  • Don't worry @kathy, I think I've got it out of my system now.
  • @brianN crown again. Suits you sir
  • And all before today's lunch episode
  • I make that a triple crown.
  • "That never happens!"

A musical tribute to the England team.

  • @hunnybunny looks like your trophy on today's Challenge is standing firm but there's still a few hours to go.
  • Wow @BrianPrincessPageChanger!! 3 in a row!! I wish @Estar were here to check my records!
Technically you couldn't have done it without @DesperateDan Fez King! HeeHee
    Nighty Night Folks..
  • Sounding a little bitter there @kathy. Hope you'll attend my coronation ceremony. Free beer @ixan57.
  • did I hear someone say free beer
  • Did hear about the EMO singer who left the band to have a solo career? He likes self harmony.
  • No I didn't. You must tell us all about it some day.
  • Another Challenge I can't get to.
  • Trying hard not complain about working in the heat when I see what's happening in parts of North America. Even though I get headaches and nausea on a day like today. Mind you I should be used to it, I get the same symptoms reading @desperatedan's posts. Aw just kidding Dan. Or am I?
How are things where you are @karen68 and @catsnbirds?Geography really isn't my strong point but I think you might be East of the worst of it. Has there been an upsurge in membership of the local ice hockey club?
Amazes me that there are still rednecks around who say global warming is not an issue. (pun intended.) In fact one of them has just lost an election. Won't say who it was as it brings back bad memories for @kathy. But here's a clue, he still thinks he won it. I reckon he's just Biden his time. Needs to come up with a better slogan though than 4 more years. I think that's what lost it for him.
  • Happy Canada Day
  • No comment @BrianN :/
  • Well there's a first @kathy.
  • Well Greta's not been at all happy today with the world leaders. I loved her quote from last year about them "The emperors are naked. Every single one," she says. "It turns out our whole society is just one big nudist party."

Hmm...might just need a bit of sun screen then.
  • Today's challenge seems awfully hard work. Even @asher can't make a dent. Some days I just don't believe all the high scores, although @comex666 has provided a video of his spectacular leading score so I have no complaint about that.
  • I feel a headache coming on. Nite all.
  • Yes @Kathy Happy Canada Day!

@BrianN @catsnbirds & I are not that far from each other, just on different sides of the border. But way east of the heat that’s ravaging the west coast.
(You can always ask @kathy where we are. Geography by Kathy is fascinating.) :)
But it’s been really bad. There’s a small town in British Columbia that set the record for the highest temperature ever recorded in Canada for 3 days in a row, on Tuesday it was over 49 deg celsius. And to make things worse most of this small town was destroyed by a wildfire overnight, triggered by the extreme heat. It’s just terrible.

In happier news, it’s time for Wimbledon! I know @catsnbirds is a fan.
  • Well, there is a big UK v Canada clash at Wimbledon today. Murray v Shapovalov. I think this one will be beyond Murray.
  • Sad to see Murray struggling to beat someone who wouldn't normally be fit to tie his tennis shoes. Although it was a real triumph of the will to get through. Nothing wrong with his spirit or desire.
Don't know if I'm being biased but injury seems to have blighted a lot of our very best sportsmen. I think of what Ian Botham or Freddie Flintoff might have achieved or Johnny Wilkinson. He lost about 3 years in his prime and would probably have set a huge international points total, beyond Dan Carter's mark. Chris Froome also(I'm claiming him as 'ours')but for that awful crash he would have at least gotten close to challenging Merckx for most grand tours. Having said that they still achieved, but us fans always want more.
  • Today's challenge is an enjoyable level. Not much to do in terms of skill, but in 10 mins managed to take my score from a modest 124k to a modest 129k.Think it's one of those levels where if you have a lot of time to spare a puppy could be on. Will have a go tonite after tea.
  • Hey @karen68 temperature rarely reaches 30°here in Scotland. I find 15°a struggle, I still waiting to find a house to clean that has shade on all four sides. You have my sympathy.
  • On the sports theme. Cav is back! (UK patrons only). That is an example of triumph over adversity.
  • You really need to get that last brick on the right to break the balloon and fall down. That happened on my high score so far. But it's lady luck.
  • @desperatedan nice to see Murray back but I have to cheer for Shapo of course.
  • @karen68 I will be cheering on Shapo with you. Glad to see Murray back, but thrilled that Federer is playing again. In this magical age of information, I can sit out on my patio and watch the matches on my iPad. Beautiful weather here this morning, sunny and high 70’s F. Surrounded by trees and flowers and plants with squirrels and birds visiting their feeders. And, yes, one of my cats is enjoying the backyard with me.
  • Hey @desperatedan, remember that conversation we had before you blew up the internet with your ABO statistical frenzy? .It was concerning jrsqonk? I came across his Sharpshooter badge request, it was for Jurassic Pork. Really impressive scores, as you noted top5 in all. But strangely not awarded the Ultra badge. See @hunnybunny, since you stopped interfering... er I mean helping out at admin things have gone to pot. Just can't get the staff these days... Oops sorry @sweetp and @karen68. Will somebody take this shovel off me? I'm getting blisters.!
  • I see Motherwell have just signed a forward called Justin Amaluzor. Good luck with that. I can already hear the terraces singing to the tune of a well known Beck song.
  • Cav is a case in point proving my earlier point. He's lost 2 or 3? of his best seasons to illness. Not sure if he would've beaten Merckx for most Tour de France stage wins, but would probably have beaten Cippolini's record of most stage wins by a sprinter. Great to see him back tho, love his feisty attitude.
  • Is it true that Boris Becker is still opening his Father's Day cards?
  • "Just you tonight Brian?" "Looks like it mystery voice from the ether."
    "Where is everyone?"
"Think Kathy has the plumber in checking out a leaky drain. Dan's out worrying sheep. Karen's flying about looking for rodents. Ixan is asleep with a pint of Tennants on his head. Catsnbirds is watching squirrels play tennis on her patio. Goodness knows what Hunnybunny is up to. And I think Gumby has been kidnapped by aliens. "
" Just yer average Friday night then? "
  • Lol @BrianN.

Enjoying the match. And technology is wonderful. My Italian hubby can keep one eye on the football on one device while continuing to work on his laptop.
  • "Still there Brian?"
"Still here mystery voice from the ether. I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear."
    "The Smiths?"
    "No they're out as well."
"Glad I caught you. Got a scouse guy here called Cavendish. Says if you call him feisty again he'll give you such a kicking."
    "Fair do's."
  • Hi @karen68, how dare you interrupt me. No spoilers, I have to watch a recording of the footy while my wife watches Murray get a gubbing.
  • Well there is one happy household then @karen68. Through the wonders of technology I managed to end up watching the tennis with the football commentary. A bit surreal.
  • Wow what a game. Could have gone either way in the end. (Obviously not talking about the tennis @karen68) Who was it who said after the first game of the tournament "I think Italy could win the whole shebang"? No, it wasn't Paul the octopus, it was me. Haven't seen anything since to make me change my mind. Old Master Time Chielini was magnificent at the back. They don't have the best forwards or the best defence, but their midfield is superb and they definitely have the best balance. Forza Italia! (Your husband isn't caled Osmondo D'Oloroso is he?
  • Oh, @hunnybunny is thinking up more filthy jokes!
  • Since @twiggy correctly predicted the US election, I shall have to ask her who will win the Euros and who will win Wimbledon. Paul the Octopus has nothing on her (didn't he perish under mysterious circumstances?)
  • Hey @karen68 meant to ask, is your husband cross eyed?
  • Legend has it @desperatedan that he was earen by a terrier.
  • Bit confused by your Cav comment @brianN because he could well catch Merckx this year and he is well clear of everybody else. I'm a big fan, such a shame he had a five year winning gap for all sorts of reasons.

And BTW, when Murray wins he is British, when he loses he is Scottish.
  • "Hey Brian, that Cav is a bit feisty isn't he?"
"Don't know what you're talking about mystery voice from the ether."
"Well anyways wonder if you could put something on the jukebox for me?"
"Go on then, Ghost busters theme tune? There's a ghost in my house?
" No, something by Dua Lipa I think".
"Good choice, not just a great pop star but an excellent live performer. Check out the Madonna tribute!

    https://youtu.be/FAPv-SdJKYM
  • Yes @desperatedan or is that Statto? I was getting mixed up with overall Grand Tour stage wins as opposed to Tour de France stage wins. Could the Manx(totally not feisty) minx do it?
  • Lol with the tennis talk again, I recognize the names Murray and Fed (short for Federer)? And I remember pictures of Bums although I can't identify who's bum is who's lol!!
And I've got to ask Who is Paul Octopus??
And I see @BrianN has been having a grand ole time keeping himself company :

Sooo yes @BrianN since Karen mentioned my geography skills, I'll give you a short lesson..
*@hunnybunny rolls her eyes and holds her laugher*
Here it is. , hold on while I get my map..
  • Okay can't find my map.. Actually I found the ABN members map but it's n not working , go figure! so memory will have to do @Karen68 is in Canada, above me and to the east So Let's say Northeast,, when I get a Storm, she usually gets it later, unless of course it's winter and her Jetstream sends it looping down to southwest of her and it hits @Catsnbirds who's West Northwest of me , just a little north but kinda straight out westerly from me, then her weather comes to me! And no matter what time of year My weather never goes to Catsnbirds, that would be backwards.
That's my geography/weather lesson of the day :)
  • Is this your geography stand up routine.?
  • You should wo4k for the Met Office.
  • Watching Border town on Netflix, filmed in Finland, it's nice to see that somewhere in Europe, they drive on the right side of the road ;)
    Back to my show..
