Angry Birds character anatomy question Page 1
  • So, I have a question about Rovio's choices on the anatomy of our favorite foul and their arch rival swine.

Why did they decide that in the Angry Birds universe the Birds and Pigs suddenly never evolved with wings and feet? How is it the pigs can setup these elaborate structures using only their mouths and the birds can erect a giant slingshot the same way?

I'd like to point out that I'm not criticizing Rovio at all. If anything, their choices add to the whimsy and humor of the game. I'm just wondering why they chose to go that way.

  • Perhaps pulling at the threads of logic isn't the best idea. But nonetheless, based on the video shorts that Rovio has put out, I would say that the pigs have telekinetic powers, as they are able to (for example) hold a frying pan over a fire without touching it.
  • I am hesitant to try to assign any sort of logic to the game, however I believe that Rovio has made statements about the birds living on a remote island. In such circumstances birds have become flightless (Flightless Cormorant in the Galapagos Islands) and sometimes appear to be completely wingless (the Kiwi in New Zealand). And while real world pigs don't fry up bird eggs, they can and do wreck havoc on isolated ecosystems such as the Galapagos.
  • Wild pigs do, in fact, eat eggs of ground-nesting birds, and endanger them by other damage to their habitat.
  • And man!!!!! Can they ski [Wreck the Halls]!! Hey, wooden skis but none the less, down the slopes they go. A bit wobbly, especially Mr. Bomber Birdy. Smashes into things BUT comes out on top and shows ya don't have to be an Olympic Star to lay yer body down on them thar skis and "swoosh."
    Way cool
  • I once read or saw something that said any domestic pig will revert to its wild state after about two weeks outside of captivity. They go from being light pink to dark and their hair fills back in. Maybe something similar happened here...
  • Just saw a tweet on AngryBirds that says white bird is female! Don't know if that is the official position of Rovio???
  • That's one ugly chick!
  • White bird is a chicken. Chicken lay eggs. EOD
  • The birds having no wings or feet is what makes them sooo CUTE!!!
  • Ready for something that will really bake your noodle? Check out these screencaps from the original AB "Cinematic Trailer" -- The pigs leave behind hoof prints when stealing the eggs, and when the King Pig fantasizes about eating eggs, he imagines himself with hands..

  • I call the White bird, Eggbert and think HE is a male bird.
  • But male birds do not lay eggs.

It is widely believed (even if not official) that all the birds bar white are male and that the blue birds are juvenile (based on the comics).

Only one has an Official name - Terrence, the big brother. Although Bomb has been mis-typed as Bob, this is just a mistake and is not the official line (despite appearing in the latest comic).
  • Not to fuel the White Bird Gender debate, but the coverse argument would say that the "eggs" dropped by the White Bird are not real eggs -- they are bombs. So the White Bird is not laying real eggs, thus it certainly can be male.
  • Agreed. Why would you fight to protect eggs that were stolen by dropping real eggs at the Pigs.

Plus.. you know.. real eggs don't explode..
  • White Bird:
    http://angrybirds.wikia.com/wiki/White_Bird

"Despite being one of the largest of the birds, White Bird is weak in physical strength,"

    Female White Bird:
    http://angrybirds.wikia.com/wiki/Female_White_Bird

"Where the Female Red Bird is approximately the same size as the Male Red Bird, one image implies that the Female White Bird is significantly smaller than both the Male White Bird as well as the Female Red Bird. "

    Stats from White Bird Page:

    Name: White Bird
    Known Aliases:
Fan Aliases: Egg Beater, Egg Bomber, Egg Master, Chicken Bird, Bomber Bird, or Egg Bird
    Group Affiliation: The Flock
Known Relatives: Female White Bird (possible mate)
  • I love that the birds don't have feet or wings; they remind me of the Veggie Tales characters :). I always think of the white bird as a female, maybe because of the egg, but it just seems "girly" to me.
  • @wanda same here. They sure do remind me of the VeggieTales characters.
  • If the white bird is female, then who is the smaller white bird with a bow on her head in the Valentines update?
  • I strongly believe that the white bird is a male.
  • i think white bird is male,i mean the eggs don't have chicks in them
  • Rovio's newest animation makes it pretty clear which gender they made the white bird.

  • @flassari That video should close the white bird gender argument...

  • But in the comics, the white bird looks like a male.
  • and in the youtube videos...
  • Seems like the design of Green Bird has also changed. Much different in this new animation that some of the previous ones.
  • WAHT?!
