iOS 5 and Angry Birds
  • Hey guys! This was just a little note to see if anyone in this community has upgraded to the new, iOS 5 software that came out a few days ago. I have waited a few days because I wanted to ask you guys about your experiences. Also, I heard that the upgrade wipes the iDevice and then puts all your data back on with the new iOS software. I was actually quite worried about this, I do not want to lose any of my precious Angry Birds data, I am sure other fanatics would relate to my hesitations. So really, my main question is that, if I upgrade, when I look at all my apps that have been put back on after the update, will they still contain all my data, feathers, hiscores and stars? In fact, will all my apps (including their data), contacts, mail, messages and everything else stay on my phone? What I don't want is all my applications put back on, after the iOS 5 update, with no data whatsoever. I do not want all my hiscores lost in Angry Birds and all my other games on my iPhone after the update.

    Please reply,
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex.

  • Alright, thank you for your help AMslimfordy. Alright, thank you, and yes, I will do my own back-up before the update. If I could just ask you a quick question, have you upgraded to the new iOS 5? If so, how did it go, was your phone identical to what it was before the update? Were all your apps and their data kept, in particular, Angry Birds? Sorry for so many questions, yet I just want to get a good understanding of what is involved in an update, the risks and so on. I have had numerous scares before, in relation to losing AB data. Thankfully I retained it, however, it would be preferable if I did not go through all that again.

    Thank you,
    Alex.
  • Yes, I updated from iOS 4.3.5 to 5.0 on both iPad 2 and iPhone 3GS. All six of my AB apps are perfect.
  • Hey AMslimfordy! Thank you for your help today, I just finished the upgrade then and after an initial scare where iTunes adds the apps back on, and it looks like they are all gone, I was fine when they started popping back up again, one by one. Overall, I am glad I did, as some of the features are quite handy. Thanks again for your support, you can now close this conversation if you need.

    Kind Regards,
    Alex.
