re RIO: why can't I progress past Beach Volley? Page 1
  • While I can play the game and I think I'm getting pretty good at it, I'm not clear on how the game works:

    1. Do I need to have achieved three stars in every game in order to progress beyond Beach Volley? I have all my fruits but I don't have three stars in everything. BUt there's no new level to go to so I'm stuck.

    2. What else do I need to know in terms of goals, to successfully play this game? I wish all this stuff was included in the game, like a little list of rules of how the game works.

  • There's no real rules, besides "Don't fling your phone".

    1) To advance, you only need to pass all levels; you don't need 3-stars to advance. As for not progressing past Beach Volley...
---a) If "Carnival Upheaval" shows as the 4th episode but has a lock on it, then you haven't passed all the levels of Beach Volley yet.
---b) If it doesn't show up, then you need to update your app. More levels will come later on, too.

    2) The goal (in the original Angry Birds) was to pop all the piggies. In Rio, it changed a little (free all the caged birds or pop all the monkeys). That's the first goal. Afterwards, getting 3-stars is the next goal: Popping all the piggies (or cages or monkeys) and causing a lot of damage to achieve high scores.
  • how do you update?

I like messing with the monkey kill spree but I still want to progress..
  • How you update depends on your device platform. Plus, some updates aren't out on all platforms yet. What are you using?
  • this is RIO for PC, I use Windows 7.
  • Then Beach Volley is as far as you go right now. We expect an update soon for PC.
  • Chrome has 63 levels, you already have 90 in Rio?
  • yup 90. and I go through them like a hot knife through butter. some are hard but many are not. I'd just like the rest of the game.

I'd expect a partial game if it was free, but it isn't. If there are version/platforms where the entire game is available, then obviously it's frustrating when those same levels are not available to me. ESPECIALLY because there are blank spaces for the levels and the rewards. I'm half way there.

when they sold it, they could have said, this is a partial version, you'll get the rest in a few weeks or something. but nope. not a word. it just stopped unlocking games.

oh yeah...I've written to them and they're just not answering. I love this game but I mean, what do they think...that users are stupid and don't notice that half the game is missing? or that no one's answering the questions in email? I hate that.
  • That's just how Rovio works, and I rather like it. They are constantly adding new levels. No platform has all 180 levels of Rio, and won't for quite some time.
  • I agree with AMslimfordy, and beyond that, Rovio could have chosen not to update any levels after the initial purchase of the game -- they could have charged us all another $.99 for every single update, but they didn't. For less than one dollar per AB game (ok, $1.98 if you count the Mighty Eagle purchase for the original AB), this game has kept me happily occupied for hundreds of hours, and the gradual releases definitely keep me into the game far longer than if all levels were released at once.

To put it another way, this game cost me $1.00, and after my initial purchase, I view all updates as a free gift from Rovio. Personally, I think Rovio is a bit nuts to offer all of these updates for free (I cannot comprehend how much money they have left on the table by going this route), but I'm certainly not going to complain about it.
  • hey guys...don't get me wrong...I love the game, but I find this very frustrating. I bought RIO two weeks ago and I'm finished with it. I have a few more games to get three stars in, maybe five of them, that's a couple of hours and that's it. Done.

I paid $5 for the complete game. I like the idea of adding on, and I'd pay for add on's too, to be honest. But give me a complete game to begin with.

Also, I don't care for the stonewalling from Rovio. Here's an example of why I'm getting kind of disgusted aside from this half game business...I have a sound file issue. Sometimes, a sound file locks and it's like machine guns...really loud. I've written them about it. They haven't addressed it.

Here's how I see it: I'm a customer. I'm not unreasonable and I'm not writing them angry letters, shaking my fists at them. I like the game. I'll keep buying the game and new variations of it. UNLESS they make this too frustrating and then I'll just fade out. I'm sure they won't miss me. that's life.
  • I understand your concern and frustration, but NONE of the Angry Birds games are what you would call complete for any platform. There will always be add-ons to all games. The only difference between Rio and the other games is that Rio shows 6 episodes, whereas other games just tack on more episodes as the game progresses.
  • okay. point taken, but all in all, this is a one very short game.
    for five bucks.
comes with a loud machine gun rapid fire crazycorrupt sound file that no one wants to address or even acknowledge.

    .......not a recipe for happy.
