@AngerManagement -- How did you find out about the Pigineer's birthday? I haven't spent that much time looking at the website. They don't seem to mention names much???
-
@mvnla2, It is the second article down on http://www.pigineering.com/
-
I noticed that some users leave same sort of comments, usually totally unconstructive, on all walkthrough threads, probably in order to get some points. That's soooo...childish. As far as I know points are added automatically but I think it would be nice that administrators warn users that such comments on multiply pages will be considered as spamming. I generally don't have problem with those comments but every time I refresh all community's activities it's full of same comments and I wonder if I missed some really worthy comment that might be helpfull.
-
Just been going through some of "My Leaderboards" on my mobile, and noticed on the small screen the "below average" black negative figure can be a little hard to discern from the "above average" grey positive figure.
Is there any way this negative figure could be made bolder, maybe change the colour to red?
Or maybe highlight the entire row in red to make it really stand out? -
@cosmo2503 - if you feel members are spamming or leaving inappropriate comments, use the "flag" option to bring it to the mods attention.
This way the mods will know who and what you feel is wrong. -
@cosmo2503 - I have to admit that I sometimes post comments without thinking any further (mostly when it's a daily challenge that I just can't beat or when I get a nice score by using some other method (which is pretty rare though). But I agree that there's A LOT of people making comments with no particular reason. Some people are even posting their methods even when the same methos was in the video or in the previous comments. And there's also a lot of posts which have nothing to do with the level. Some of them are purely chatting.
-
@cmdrbond those comments are not really spam but still are irrelevant and when they are mutiplying on dozens pages it's becoming annoying.
@lisko I find comments on daily challenges welcomed (even those urghhh...sort of). As for posting same comment as previous ones it may happen inocentely if they are posted same day and one whose comment is second in row just submitted it several minutes later. -
@cosmo2503 - I think I know what you mean. I'm trying to keep my comments purely in the particular stage, but sometimes I just can't keep my mouth shut :D And yeah, I agree, it's definately acceptable when several comments are posted in few minutes (yep, minutes, 'cause it's not so easy to type in english when it's not your own language), but sometimes there's days or months between the posts and there's nothing new :/
-
@lisko no-one will accuse you of spamming for an occasional comment like you're describing, we all do it from time to time :) And I think a bit of chatter is inevitable on the boards, especially with the Challenge or new levels as a lot of people are working through them at the same time, I know I'm occasionally guilty of that.
But posting a comment on every single level you play, especially comments that don't really say anything seems like spamming for points. We can't flag comments on the walkthroughs, which is fine, that would make far too much work for the admins. But you can always shoot a message to one of them to make concerns known. -
If anyone sees "spammy for points" sort of comments, please send me a PM. I see hundreds of comments daily and don't always connect users.
Let's also say that certainly not every comment that every user makes has to be Nobel prize worthy. But there are users who make habits out of nonsensical and nonhelpful comments and this needs to be discouraged. I don't think anyone in this thread is "at risk". -
@AMslimfordy & @karen68 - Haha, thanks for the absolution :D I'm trying to keep my comments as few as I can, but then again sometimes you just can't help on cursing the level to the lowest level of earth (wow, I didn't even know I could be so correct, haha). But yeah, there's also pure chatting and I don't think that's so much appreciated 'cause it's much harder to find any tips when there's people chatting at the same time.
-
@Lisko I thought tha wasn't coming out until today. Shhhhh I'll keep you posted.
-
@AMslimfordy - Haha, no problem :D I just got completely confused when I saw that e-mail. I really like that feature! :D
-
One question please @admins: what is the "Dismiss" button on the Accnouncement Discussions for ? Because I accidently pressed it on the "How do I create an avatar" thread and the thread has gone, now I don't know how to get it back
-
@Firebombbird Not really sure, but I think an announcement thread pops to the top and stays there (even though other threads have been active after that). They don't go down with the time. But if you did read them and don't want them to stay on top, you can dismiss the announcement (always stay on top-) function and they will drop back in to the time line. So they are still there, just somewhere down the list of other threads.
-
So can I get it back to the top again ?
-
Announced threads are "sticky" at the top of Page 1. Dismissing the announcement reduces them to a normal thread, and thus will be arranged in order of last-comment time stamp.
-
@AMslimfordy - Is it somehow possible to get it back on the top, 'cause I (idiot) decided to try it and after I clicked "dismiss", the headline of the thread doesn't show me the "options" -box anymore. Haha, fortunately I tried it with a thread that I don't read much xD
-
Unfortunately, I can't see what you guys see. Instead of having "Dismiss", I have the option to "Unannounce" as an admin.
-
@Amslimfordy - Here's a screenshot: http://angrybir.de/16B8VOy
So when I take the mouse cursor above some announcement headline, it gives me that options -box, where I can choose "dismiss". But when I clicked it once, it won't give me that options -box anymore :D
Edit: It still shows as an announcement, but it's not on the top of the forum like you said that it goes by the latest time-stamp :) -
@Lisko Do you have any options (either on a sticky post or a dismissed sticky) at the top of Page1 of that thread? They would likely appear in the original post, next to the OP's username.
-
@AMslimfordy - Hmm, I just checked and those threads I haven't dismissed (at least yet, haha) are showing that the only option is to dismiss the thread. That one which I already dismissed isn't showing any "options" at all. I tried to search if there was a way to return it, but couldn't find anything. I also opened few of those announcement threads, but the only option I can find is to dismiss the thread. Not sure how it should work?
Edit: Oh, and those normal threads (like BP etc. are not giving me the options -box at all. -
So once you dismissed them, you will never get it back to the top of the page again
-
I'm not sure. Doesn't look like it.
-
@FireBombBird -- You get a prize for finding a question for which Slim doesn't know the answer! Not sure what it should be though.
-
@AMSlimfordy -- What would happen if you cancelled it as an announcement, and then made it an announcement again? I realize you probable don't want to do this every time someone makes a mistake.
-
Not really in our control...
-
@AMSlimfordy -- I'm talking about the high score shown IN the video (top right). It is frequently quite a bit higher than the one obtained by the video itself. Not clear if you just wanted to show something closer to the 3* min.
-
I assume you're referring to older levels, such as those in ABo. We originally used a few compilations videos for our walkthroughs and later made our own. Those would be likely the only time when our video is not the best device score.
Nowadays, our videos are our best attempts with rare exceptions. The only circumstances that I can think of when we would record "after the fact" would be for alternative strategies. -
@admins - I'm not sure what's happening in the Daily challenge or the walkthrough discussions. When I press "reply" it shows my comment as a new one and now when I replied to my previous comment to say I'm sorry 'cause appears as a new comment, the previous one disappeared. Not sure if some of admins deleted it, but it feels a bit that this keeps happening again and again.
And I didn't mean any bad with this comment, just wondering what's happening :) -
I haven't seen any issues so far. It's possible that you & sal responded at the same time, so your comment may have been removed since they were the same response?
-
@AMslimfordy - Oh, okay! That could be the reason! Thanks for the reply :)
-
@lisko, click on the image and @aman has been kind enough to insert 'target=_blank' into his code, so, when clicked, it will appear in a new window:) Also, @aman, I have checked both; the leaderboards and my personal leaderboards on Internet Explorer and on Google Chrome, and it was fine to me, I don't know why you experienced this, is it still like it?
-
@AngerManagement - Thanks for reply. But I opened my leaderboards on Internet Explorer & Firefox, But same thing happened :D
-
I have deleted my one score by entering '0' & extra ACB 1-12 score box is gone now.
Thanks anyway @Lisko @AngerManagement :) -
@AngerManagement & @Aman - I already clicked the pic and after that I saved it, but it won't give me an option to zoom in. I can only see it in the same size as it shows here o.O
But yeah, my browser is Firefox and the leaderboard shows up just like should be :)
-
We have a log of what challenge runs on what day, but we do not keep a "screenshot" or anything of the list just before it ends.
The Top 50 displays directly from the active leaderboard. The Improved List pulls only scores entered while that List is active.
There would also be an issue in terms of nearly-duplicate pages -- as in, pages that Google and other search engines would believe are duplicates. Creating duplicate pages immediately drops a website's ranking in the search algorithm, which means lower traffic and lower revenue.
We are still mulling over ways of potentially doing this, but at present, we haven't come up with any real viable options. -
I for one would hope that people would tell the truth, but I can see where both of you are coming from. I think it is important to keep so high on the Google algorithm, therefore expanding the site. But I also think it is important for people to get the badges they deserve, for now, however, I think trusting people to tell truth is the better option. I think making a group or forum would be a good idea, preferably a forum, but maybe it should start when the new forums are integrated into the site?
