Yep I believe we are too @karen68 I graduated in 85 and I love all the diff music genres that came out in our growing up years and into adulthood! Goodness we had some fantastic new music coming out in the 80s and 90s, shame kiddies don't know more about that :( Oh I wish I could experience those colours too!!
@mvnla2 I hope that didn't sound snippy, it wasn't supposed to! But it's been Way more than 17 times I've reset and still no self destruct! And from what I've read in the posts in that walkthrough everyone else had to reset many many times before it happened as well. Just thought you should know :) -
@kimmie I reset S&T 4 well over 100 times before I finally got a self collapse that killed all the piggies and got me above average.
-
Hello everyone else. I have had an unbelievably crazy weekend. I would tell you what happened, but it's not really something I want to share. Let's just say: Real Life can be terrible. Anyway. I am finally getting around to updating. Didn't have a chance to get anything prepped over the weekend for the update so I am doing it all on the fly a day late and almost blind. But it shouldn't take long. I'll pop in and out a bit :D
-
Ahh hello @Ripsy and thank you for verifying that, though it would be nice I didn't think 17 could be correct when I read all the posts! How are you today? Missed you the last couple! You want to take a couple drinks off that tab I have set up for you? :D
-
Awww shoot @Ripsy I'm sorry to hear it, I hope everything has worked itself out for you?!
-
It's alright about the real life trouble. It was a very "interesting" situation. But it panned out in our favor, so life is good.
I am doing well today. I was able to come in at the last hour on Birdday 18-5 and take the #11 spot overall and #1 most improved. Added just under 30k to my points in ABO, so I will take it. I have been working on the Challenge levels to try to get that bloody underdog badge. :)
How have you been? -
-
Good I'm glad it worked out for you! And good onya for kicking Challenge butt! :D that Under Dog badge is cool and I'm betting you get one real soon! Your one of the cyborg players so yep it'll happen for sure! I'm doing well mostly just trying to stay cool, the next (insert prayer here) 2 weeks will be rough ones and it will hopefully end in 2 not 3 weeks (that's what I'm praying for anyways) I've never done well in the heat :(
-
@kimmie -- Most of the self-destroying info comes from others; however I just tried S&T 4 and after 15 resets it self destroyed for 90+ K. Of course this is all statistical. I assume there is a post on the walkthrough that says 500? You might need to be a little more patient; takes maybe a minute to happen.
-
Yep @karen68 it's highschool I was talking about, I graduated at 17 but yep 85 was my year! :)
-
OK, @ kimmie, we're the same age :)
-
Yeah @mvnla2 there was a post from someone that counted I can't remember the exact ratio he came up with but it's nowhere near 17 and Ripsy has had the same thing happen with a larger number of resets, I wait for a long while every time but it still hasn't happened :( you may want to add from 17 resets up so people don't think it's an exact number? Don't know just a suggestion :)
-
Haha I was pretty sure we were too @karen68, I think a lot of us are in the same age group round about in BP! Just a feeling I get from all our conversations :)
-
Oh the Ocean breeze has just started to come in and what a wonderful feeling that is!! :D. Ahh lovin it....
-
I am good @karen. Maybe after time wears down, I will share the weekend's story. But it's still a little unreal to me, so I am holding off. I am about to get better right now, though.
Hey blues! @karen is here. Do you mind setting us up?
As far as Nirvana goes...
I believe Bleach was their best album, which was the one before Nevermind. I heard Nevermind so much through High School, because I was in High School at the time, I got so bored with it. If you want my honest opinion; they were in the right place at the right time. But if you look at all the "Grunge" artists from that era that are still around, Pearl Jam gets my vote. They still make good music. Although it gets a bit political at time, they are still great songwriters. -
Nice @kimmie, can't remember the last time I saw the ocean.
I have been flinging birds at the 1st level of Back to School to get that 1- birder, so far an hour & a half with no luck. Officially whining! -
I like Pearl Jam too! And yeah I get what your saying, sometimes after hearing a song 50xs a day or more it gets tedious instead of fun to hear! They tend to do that with a lot of songs and it kinda ruins it after a while.
-
Ah, a nice nightcap, thanks @rd. And why am I not surprised you have an opinion on Nirvana? Stange, but I remember where I was when I heard that Kurt Cobain had killed himself.
Isn't Pearl Jam touring right now, or at least Eddie Veder is. -
Well, like I said. The other part that ruined Nirvana for me was that fact that I was in two bands during High School. Smells Like Teen Spirit was already a classic and was played by both bands I was in. It got to the point where I started leaving it off the setlists, but the crowd booed us if we didn't play it.
-
Vedder just wrote a solo album last year, I believe and PJ did one in 2010.
I saw Pearl Jam back in '04 and they pretty much played the entire Ten album. It wasn't bad, but I am in the same boat there as I am Nevermind. They did play Yellow Ledbetter, which made me happy.
I saw Radiohead in '04 as well. That was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I wish I could have seen them on the King of Limbs tour. My buddy went to the St. Louis show this year and I downloaded a free copy of it. Man it was unreal some of the treats he got at that show. Made me very jealous. :D
Also @karen, I am a music nerd/critic. I always have an opinion about music. :D -
@mvnla2 The self collapse happens about every 20 times, I will give you that. But I didn't get one that gave me a substantial score until about 100 resets.
-
-
-
I remember at one show, I didn't put Teen Spirit on the list and they started booing. I politely mumbled some expletives into the microphone, looked at my guitar player and said, "You sing the stupid song. I am taking a break."
There were some expletives in the quote, as well. :-S -
@rd, whenever I hear "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I can't help but think of Weird Al's version.
I was never a huge Nirvana fan, but you know how a song can take you back to a certain time in your life, that's what their music does for me. -
Their music makes me turn off the radio. Sorry, I am blunt when it comes to music. I think what made me madder than anything about Kurt Cobain is the fact that he made it to the top 20 of one of Rolling Stones "Top 100 Guitarists of All Time" and Frank Zappa was in the 40's. How in the world did a guy that played punk power chords get higher on the list than an actual composer?! That is also when I learned I do not like David Fricke.
-
Was the list done after he was dead? Mind you, didn't Frank Zappa pass away a few years ago? I assume David Fricke was the list-maker?
-
The list was done posthumously for both artists. I believe it was 2003 or 2004. David Fricke is the main music critic for Rolling Stone.
Zappa died in the early 90's, right around the time Grunge came in. -
Ripsy I've always thought those things were more political than talent picked but that's just my opinion don't know if it's fact!
-
Wow, didn't realize he had died that long go.
I can probably guess who was no. 1 - one of the Jimmys. -
I believe he got a lot of hate mail about the list because after that one, he started contacting guitarists about their top 10 lists and made his top 100 based off of that one. That's when the lists started getting more fair.
-
Hendrix has made the #1 spot on every list since I have been seeing them.
Page usually ends up in the top 5. But never higher than #3. It would take me a bit to come up with a top 10. (it actually took me about a minute) But it would probably go:
1. Frank Zappa
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Steve Vai
4. Eric Johnson
5. Joe Satriani
6. Jimmy Page
7. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
8. Buckethead
9. Trey Anastasio
10. Mike McCready -
Not for nothing but Nirvana was q big influence unfortunatel n my daughter's music's experience when she was 16..Kurt did a lot of stupid things including his death that affected a lot of teens at that time As far as his music it's o.k but agree with rd there were many much more talented musicians. And I should probably shut up right now. Srry hey @Kimmiecv hows about that sunupper ;)
