  • Hello @Mumsie42! Nice of you to stop by for a few minutes. There was some interesting conversation about toilets and PITA, I'm sure gave you a little chuckle! Good luck in the river, if you need help with any of it, there are many of us here that can feed you tasty breadcrumbs to keep your flingers happy!

I'm really going to bed now, as I need to get an early start in the morning. Have a beautiful day, hun! (((hugs))) ♥♥♥
  • Gosh @rat - seems cache and deletion of is a popular topic https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4448839?start=45&tstart=0
  • @Mumsie Welsh is phonetic? I didn't know that. That must be a cruel joke to prospective students. Nevermind all the sounds absent from English, How can anyone pronounce this correctly?:

    eth ydy dy enw di?
Wnei di ysgrifennu hynna, os gweli di'n dda?
Bydd y ddynes hon yn talu am popeth.
  • @SweetP I don't think AB has a "cache", per se. Sometimes it will make a temporary copy of some data files, but those usually get cleared out frequently. iOS may be different, but I can't think of any reason why the game would need to cache anything except commonly used sounds and graphics, but those would be in memory, and unloaded when the game's closed.
  • @Kelani, I don't know what those Welsh words mean but this is the longest I've seen BP without a comment. What did you say, man?!

Splendid weather here in NorthEast US so I'm hoping it's the same all across the BP patrons' lands. I'm going back in (or I should say out).
  • @kelani obviously put through google translate, so translate it back and it never makes sense!
I'm not a welsh speaker, albeit I live in Wales, the best I can manage with that is:
    Your name is...
    If you can read this
The drinks are on the lady

And the longest place name in Wales is

    Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

    That is not phonetic!
  • Hello everyone; ) Pa on my phone I go to 'settings' application manager' it will show you all the applications on your phone you just click on each of them and you'll see it will say 'force stop' safe to do if you know what it is , if you don't don't force stop it.
'Clear Data'***** DONT DO THAT! You will lose all your scores! !!
Then you'll see 'clear cache' safe to do that. Yours might be a little different but basically the same.
  • Ha ha @kelani was it "the drinks are on the princess"?

Edit: no that's "tywysoges" for princess
  • Good night all, I'm talking to myself
Or as we say in Wales
    Nos Dda
  • Night night @hunnybunny
  • OB I'll have some crispy pig ears and a PigKiller please; )
  • @hunnybunny pretty good translations. #1 was "What is your name?". #2 was "Please write it down" and #3 was "This lady will pay for everything", which is a phrase I've never heard before. Sorry, no princess references this time. :)

@fenikus Well...I did say "the next person who speaks has to give @fenikus a bikini wax." Funny, someone must have removed it. :) Apparently these people have actual lives beyond AB? Go figure! I'm only here because our forecasted cool & dry weather ditched us and went to CT instead. Dammit.

btw, I've been trying your 1-bird shot on Jungle Escape #13 for 2 hours and failing horribly. Nevermind hitting it, I can't even get that arc without shooting at half power. Do you remember if that was a reduced-power shot? Your screenshot shows the bird start descending really close to the sling.
  • It's the calm before the storm that is Space.

@fenikus @Kelani Thumb health update: Not good. The small amount of flinging yesterday aggravated my neck and shoulder. Severe pain; no sleep.

Thanks @Ma, but the I-pad instructions worked fine.

    Nos Dda @Hunnybunny.
  • *Stomps Foot** @Pa Nooo More Flinging inn the River! ! Rest that thumb for Space! !
Oh and good you got the cache thing Sorted out:)
  • I'm ascared @Ma. I don't think I'm going to be flight worthy by launch time.
  • Now @Pa you'll be ready; )
  • @Rat Aw man. :( At least you have some time to recover. Dr. Juan Byrder says you should immobilize yourself for the next 96 hours. Don't move, don't fling, don't shake your fist at whippersnappers, don't dance the Tango, and don't breathe unless you become cyanotic. :)

I'm keeping my elbow in the brace til Thurs. just to play it safe.
  • You laugh @Kelani. But when I laid down I had to take shallow breaths to minimize the sharp pain.
  • I've been to a lot of specialists @Kelani, but I've never heard of Dr. Byrder. But I'm willing to give Jaun a shot.
  • @Rat Not laughing. Just want to see you OK in time for your spacesuit fitting. I wouldn't trust Dr. Byrder's medical skills. I know you remember him. He played a scientist in one of our earlier news reports. He musta gotten his MD at one of those Caribbean quickie med schools in the last two weeks.

y'know, looking at those Welsh translations... I think we could mumble total gibberish and still have a meaningful conversation in that language.
  • Aha @Kelani, that makes more sense. You said "This lady will pay for everything" when OB asked you to settle the weekly tab, and...everyone split!…lol.
  • lol. C'mon. How much could ginger ale possibly cost?
  • Just something about his name I like @Kelani. Sounds like he could fix me in a single visit.
  • @hunnybunny buying the drinks? I'll have a Marmoset killer please OB adouble if you could; )
  • @fenikus I finally hit that stupid shot full speed. No 1-birder, of course, I think the level's spaced differently in PC.
  • @Kelani, JE-13 wasn't reduced power. When you hit the sweet spot (after you already accelerated), the bird actually accelerates even more on impact, which could explain weird looking trajectory.
  • Hi all! Just stopped by to celebrate collecting all the coins in SW II, the Rise of the Clones! So, I'll be the lady that's buying tonight! OB, please be sure to have plenty of crystal on ice and whatever else anyone is drinking.
For those that I interested, I had to break down and use character swaps on a bunch of levels, particularly on the Bird Side. Fortunately, I've been collecting the carbonite melts, and had enough of the useful characters. Of course, I've got oodles of the ones that are next to useless, and very few of the good ones.
@Rat -- Take care of yourself, and best wishes for being ready when the Space update hits. I'm not a medical doctor, either, but immobilization is not always a good idea, especially as you get older. You lose muscle tone amazingly fast, and it takes an even more amazingly long time to regain it.
  • So, as far as AB and ABN is concerned, I'm ready for the Space update. Not true of the ever lengthening list of real-life chores that need to be done.
  • @Rat, you've been flinging for years…is this a new thing for you where AB playing actually aggravates your condition?
  • Thanks for the drinks @mvnla2, and congrats!
  • @fenikus, no the weird trajectory is pre-acceleration. It's like a normal arc, but with the flight dots compressed into a smaller space. Doesn't matter, though, I can hit the shot now, but can't get a 1-birder from it. Why did I have to notice my pathetic score on that level? :P

btw, I think the post-sweet-spot acceleration is an optical illusion caused by the plank going away. If you follow the bird with your finger on the screen, both hit the target at the same time. Not so easy to do on this level, but there are better ones.

Yay 104k 1-birder. All hail the whiiiiine.
  • @Kelani, maybe…but I've seen Matilda do some weird things in some Rio levels. You can follow the bird with your finger? I can barely follow it with my eyes…dam those young whippersnappers.
  • @mvnla2 congrats on finishing your coin hunt :) Whenever I get around to playing SWII, I'll be looking for any tips you've left behind. :)

You're right about immobilization being a double-edged sword. My grandmother broke her hip last Feb, and after 6 months in hospice from infections, her ligaments and muscles had atrophied to almost nothing. It's been 9 months and she just started using a walker with assistance. However, for entrapped nerves, you have to immobilize or you'll scream a lot. Fortunately, an arm, hand or neck brace usually does the job.
  • @fenikus well, big screen and a long trajectories help, but credit goes to the contax. Even though it takes me hours to get them in, once I do, I'm 20/10.

I just realized rubbing the screen after working in the garden is probably a bad idea.
  • @Kelani @fenikus -- Thanks! Enjoy the drinks! (even if it is ginger ale). I'm going to have to try some Crystal in real life, but kinda dread finding out what it costs. I left as many tips as I could, but the River Rats will probably leave me in the dust. I guess I could see how far below average I am, but...
  • I've always been in pain @fenikus, but if I concentrated during flinging, I could distract myself from it somewhat. Like @Mvnla2 said, "use it or lose it". But for the last month or so, flinging has been drastically aggravating it. I thought it was better and flung for about two hours yesterday. Even improved three scores at the river. But I was wrong. The price was too high. I don't know what's changed. But the physical pain is nothing compared to the emotional pain of losing to a bunch of amateur flingers. That's painful. *Did I say that out loud?* Oops...lol
  • Dang @Rat, I *almost* started to feel sympathetic to your woes…but after that "amateur flingers" comment, I mean c'mon, you're just asking for it :=>

I know what changed. You came to Rio and encountered some real competition for the first time and you had to try harder…and harder…and then the pressure got to you and made you tense and…well, you know where I'm going with this, Dr. Byrder will tell you the same thing ;)
  • @fenikus Are you planning to play Space? If so, better hope @burpie doesn't see that 'real competition' comment. :)

Dr. Byrder said he has no comment, other than it was an amazing coincidence how @Rat's ailments flared up right around the time the River got frothy. :)
  • Ha ha ha the pressure, yeah, that's the ticket. Whatever lets you sleep at night.
  • congrats @Mvnla2 for aaccomplishing the coin hunting; )
  • @Kelani, I know @burpie is watching, I'm actually counting on it. He's been wise though to hide in ISS all this time and not stir any waves that might wash me ashore Space with beak impact force.

I don't know if I'll play. I'll have to watch walkthroughs of newer episodes to see if it's something I'd enjoy.

Edit: From what I can see, I think you'll give them a run for their money @Kelani, and @bernersenn will be there as well.
  • @Kathy, how am I picking on Pa? I was trying to be nice and he called me an amateur flinger!
  • @fenikus You enjoy beating up on friends, right? If Beak Impact is like the other episodes, I expect some actual challenging and fun levels.

You and @Rat better play. Otherwise it'll be me on a tiny screen playing against our two Dutch brethren. Yeah, that'll end well. :P
  • Well @fenikus hmm reading your Rio comment above. .you know he's been in pain all the time in the River but still managed to come close AND he didn't even fling half as much as we all did. .if he wasn't inn pain he woulda left us all drowning , clutching to the weeds to pull ourselves up. Frankly if it weren't for Pa I wouldnt have made it as far as i did. .
Anyway I'm just giving you crap..lol it's all in fun ;) no worries; )
  • @Kathy, as @Kelani is my witness, he was asking for it, lol.

BTW, hows come ya guys call yerselves ma and pa?
  • @fenikus @kelani is your witness? Hope you never need a real life alibi haha; ) ;)
And as for your other question. .I'll leave that for Pa to answer or not; )
  • @Kathy, yes as @Kelani is my witness and my foolproof alibi is @Rat's comment right above mine (read last few sentences).

I don't really need to know ma/pa thing; was just curious.
  • Argghhh I keep getting logged out!!
Yes @fenikus I read the whole conversation well almost; )
Nooo worries just kiddin With ya;)
  • @Kelani, I watched a few walkthroughs for Danger Zone and Cosmic Crystals. I see a lot of that sloooooow destruction of sloooooowly floating debris like I saw in Pig Bang, the only episode I actually played few levels in. Not my cuppa tea but I might give it a shot.
