Hello @e-star!! :)
-
Is bird addict still around? Saw a mention but I'm not really sure what the situation is.
For those following current events, I'm locked up at home today. I highly highly advice anyone in greater Boston to do the same. -
sounds fantastic @birdleader!
-
Hi there humans!
Wow, @slim, you live in Boston? I'm sorry. I rally am. But I do like that video you showed us the other day. -
@AMslimfordy - I just read the news from Boston! I really really hope, that they catch that guy and no one gets hurt anymore (at least here they are telling that the other guy died?)
-
greetings @other_human
-
So, I read @birdleaders comment on the last page, and I thought, how can I opt in for this stuff? Is there like a button or something?
-
wondered the same thing @tas
-
Re opt-in
See your username in the top-right corner of the site (in the gold bar)? Hover (tap once if on touchscreen) then select "Notifications". You should see several On/Off toggles.
We will be creating a full fledged post soon. -
@estar I guess it is well known fact that people in the Netherlands like bicycling, so you give me proof. You shold always have to put much cream on face to protect your skin from sun and wind.
I reckon that all of European monarcheis have more ceremonial then actual political role in their nations. -
Thanks @slim!
-
oh! thanks @slim!
-
Good Morning everyone..
@Amslimfordy happy to hear your in lockdown safe and sound,i unfortunatley have to work but all buses have been shut down which is good..got a ride to work.
Hopefully they catch the guy.
@junkenmetal hope you are also safe and anyone else in the area.
Have a good day all.. -
Boast time!!
I just got to the top of the leader board in ABS bonus levels.
Yippee, all those hours not wasted. Even he who does not fling is pleased. Though probably because he thinks I'll stop playing now, and turn into the perfect housewife. Fat chance!
OB drinks all round -
Good morning, all.
Congrats, @HunnyBunny! Well done -- those are challenging levels!
BTW, Those Who Do Not Fling are always deluding themselves. Which is just as well for us. Mine has at least decided that it's harmless enough, and kindly averts his gaze. :-) -
@hunnybunny congratulations on topscore.
@Bostonians I hope the will catch guy, sincerely I believe the can do that and they know where to find him. I really do know how it feels being locked at home during police action so my heart and mind are with you. -
As a retired police officer, my thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the murdered officer. RIP.
-
@cosmo2303 and @Hunnybunny, thanks to you and everyone here who has been so kind and supportive to those of us who live in the Boston area, whether we were directly effected or not.
I had been expecting the criminals behind the first attacks to be caught relatively quickly, but I had not expected it to turn into so much more violence, and to affect more communities in the area.
Many years ago, I worked at MIT, and I have friends who live in Watertown -- I'm not sure yet if the shootout and killing of one of the terrorists was in their neighborhood. I believe the local police handled it very well, and no civilians were injured, despite the dangerous situation.
Regardless, it must be frightening, although I am very, very proud of our local first-responders and law enforcement, who have done been incredibly brave, efficient, profession, and effective throughout this whole ordeal. -
On a much lighter note, I've got some serious work to do this afternoon.
We're off to a country house hotel tomorrow with friends:
Spa afternoon (looks disgustingly at hairy legs and chipped polish on toe nails)
And dinner in the evening at posh restaurant (looks with dismay into wardrobe for a dress that doesn't make me look like a hippopotamus, whilst frantically searching for the 'magic knickers'. Actually I'm not that fat, just neurotic)
I could be locked in the bathroom all afternoon !!!!! -
Hi all, I see the Boston area is locked down. Hang in there all who live there! I can't begin to imagine the situation there as of this moment. I did see they shot one of the suspects and are hunting the second one. @AMSlimfordy sorry you are in lock down and I hope others will do the same. The thought of more innocent bystandes getting hurt in the hunt for the suspects makes my stomach turn. Good to know you are safe and sound in side!
-
@cosmo2503 yeah we are number one in the list of cyclist in the world I think. I think there are as much bikes as there are people in our country. It is a great way of transport for the short trips. it takes me 25 minutes to ride to work and if I take the public transportation it takes me 30 to 45 minutes. Sure the car somewhat faster, I think it would take 15 minutes by car. Although I do have a license, I don't drive. I am far to scarred in the car and given I live in one of the larger cities of the Netherlands everything is close by or reachable with the bike or public transportation. So getting the experience to overcome my fear of the busy busy streets and highways would have involved me driving just for the sake of the experience. And having a car is pretty expensive, so we did not buy one, cause i knew it would just sit there in front of the house and cost money.
-
LOL HunnyBunny!! Well good luck on the getting ready for a spa day! and enjoy!
-
Just looked at the news, and where the police are surrounding a house at present. My sis used to live on Brattle Street, and has written a book on Fresh Pond. It's so close, and makes it seem all the more real. Stay safe Bostonians
-
@all, I probably won't be online much this evening, 'cause my hubby's just taking TLT to to his parent's. We're going to the local bar to see (and hear) a band, it's going to be great! We haven't had an evening together for a looooong time and now we're seeing some old friends at the same time so it'll be great! Haha, sometimes it's nice to live only 5 minutes away from your parents-in-law :D
I should go and take a shower and choose some clothes (I don't think they'd appreciate if I go naked xD), do some make-up (s*** I hate it...)
And @all who live in Boston: Just stay safe! Even when I'm ssoooo far away, my thoughts will be by your side!
And finally @everyone: Try to have a nice friday!
I think I'll just pop in here after I've done everything needed before we go, but if not, I'll see you tomorrow and you'll get a chance to laugh at me, 'cause I'll probably have a terrible hangover :D -
@amslimfordy: "For those following current events, I'm locked up at home today. I highly highly advice anyone in greater Boston to do the same."
Please do. Didn't know you're in Boston. I lived there for a long time and really want to get back.
Boston Strong! -
I've sorta kept busy. Managed a -18 on Impossible Land of SSMG2! http://twitter.com/AMslimfordy/status/325310714522771456/photo/1
-
@AMSlimfordy -- Showoff! I'm sure you saw that I haven't even gotten to par. Care to say how you did it? How many power ups did you use, and did you spend any real money on them? Grrr .. I may have to try again.
-
I used 7 or 8 PUs. I haven't spent a penny beyond initial cost. The best hat for Impossible Land is Sticky Toque to stick to every green.
-
What is SSMG2? Looks like a great game, and it looks like your spending your time effectively:D Oh, and the notification option to see when new updates come out is a great feature to the site:]
-
Is it super stickman golf???
-
@mvnla2 CLEAN BALL + GOLD STAR! http://twitter.com/AMslimfordy/status/325327123650863105/photo/1
@AngerManagement Yeasir -
Hey @angermanagement, I managed top of my leader board, at last. Bet you are top of lots!
-
@AMSlimfordy -- Congrats! What can I say! Well -- There must be some secret tips the rest of us don't know about -- Like you really play on an large-screen HDTV with pixel identification, or ???
I just figured out that I could potentially get to -24 with 6 PUs.
Oh yeah, and a very large number of mulligans (I would have said infinite, but you would probably take that literally and correct me.) ; ) -
Wow, very well done @hunnybunny, really glad you got what you wanted, it feels so good to have achieved something after so many painful seconds of hoping for an extra thousand points here and there:D lol, I'm an average flinger, I just got really lucky, and found loads of great strategies for the BFM, still got 2 Top Scores there, but I'm now 2nd overall. That's still great though, I'm just happy to have helped alot of people get an extra few thousand points with my strategies:]
-
Oh, and congrats Slim, I haven't played Super Stickman Golf before, so I don't know what you and @mvnla2 are talking about, but it sounds as though you got a great achievement there:D
-
@slim, @mvlna2 - do I need a new game to obsess over? PC or iPad?
I played today in our Ladies' Bronze team match ( very rarely get picked as my HCP is 28) I won! So pleased!
All Bostonians - stay safe!
@Hunnybunny - congrats & enjoy your trip tomorrow!
@Lisko enjoy your night out! -
@Mumsie -- Well, I have enjoyed playing Super StickMan Golf (SSG) and SSG2. It's definitely available for iPad and probably iPhone, don't know about other platforms. I think is should actually help if you play golf. It's on GC so you can compete if you want, although I don't. If you have IOS 4.3 you need to turn GC off to play.
Congrats on your win! They say it is harder to win with a higher HC, but if you are on your game, you can give the low handicappers fits! : D Bronze team sounds like the handicaps were all fairly high anyway? -
Bronze team players are HCP21 - 36 but rarely is there anyone over 25 playing on our team! Most of our ladies are in that category with a lot around the 22-25 mark so I don't often get picked. Our lowest HCP player is 9 and she used to play County level hockey! I shall look for that game and let you know how I get on!
-
BTW my opponent was off 31 and won the first two holes easily! So I was even more delighted when I won!
-
No sooner they lift the lockdown..shots fired suspect down!!!!
He musts tried to get away quickly!!!
I'll update a minute happening in Watertown mass.. -
Kathy must be glued to the TV. If anyone hasn't turned it on yet, the police think they have the 2nd suspect cornered, but are moving slowly because of the possibility of explosives. The first suspect died this morning during a shootout with police.
-
Thank goodness. I'm running low on beer. It reminds me of the TV show "24".
-
Lol! A standoff on Franklin Street and Slim's almost out of beer.
-
Argjhh @Amslimfordy be careful..Puhleeeze be careful..:(
Sounds like they have him surrounded now..as soon as they lifted the ban something happened i think he tried to break for it as soon as cops left, but they are saying he is outside the perimeter where they were searching..now in standoff position in Watertown mass..shots fired..it is so surreal..ya like an episode of at.v.show just much longer..:( -
Find a place that delivers beer slim..wish i could *poof* some beer your way...please be careful
-
I could write a tasteful Blues song about it.
-
Fox phone update says suspect shot!! Down in Watertown but t.v not saying that..
-
Sending in robot...
-
How many do you have left @Slim?
-
@Kathy they spotted him via thermal imaging from a helicopter
