Fair enough, @kathy, have you found out whether you need to 3 star the BFM or not, to open up PotJ???
-
Hi, @AngerManagement!
I am, as always, delighted to see you, and hope you are well, my dear friend.
And now, if you'll be so kind and have a moment to spare from what appears to be an absolute flurry of some sort of Very Technical Investigations, could you please explain about the whole "page changer" thing. I mean, I get that it's a way to note that someone made a post that moved the discussion onto a new page, but what is the protocol? (Hate looking like a total rube, as you know. :D)
It looks like there's a pattern of the lucky poster's initials + pagechanger. But does @ampagechanger actually go anywhere or do anything or whatever?
Because, you never know, someday I could manage to achiever, completely by accident, the honor of jmpagechanger. In which case I would want to be fully aware of my Duties and Responsibilities. :-)
But I do realize you guys all seem very busy right now, so don't interrupt what you're doing to answer my silliness. -
Oh, @junkenmetel, I don't really know where it came from, I think @kathy would be more suited to explaining it to you:] It isn't really the initials, people just choose there own, or get one given to them by someone else. For instance, Kathy, is ther princesspagechanger, because she is a princess (not particularly sure of the specific origin). Mine used to just be angermanagementpagechanger, but I thought it was too long, so I changed it too ampagechanger. Oh, and the technical investigatyion is just me getting carried away with Star Wars, something I'll try to keep a lid on in the future;D
-
Oh yeah, and good morning (?) to you aswell, @junkenmetel:D What flinging are you doing at the moment???
-
@AngerManagement, PLEASE don't try to keep a lid on anything you do -- we like you just the way you are -- lid off and exuberance spilling out everywhere!
Thanks for the explanation; it sounds like another one of those bits of silliness that have a delightful tendency to pop up around here, but which sometimes cause confusion for us newer birds while we're settling into the Nest. No worries.
And do you really have to stop and think about why @Kathy is a princess? Really? :D -
Morning everyone. @junkenmetel it's nice to meet you :)
The whole page change thing doesn't mean anything official. @angermanagement is right, Kathy is the "PrincessPageChanger" because in the early days of the BP it always seemed to be her who changed the page. E-star made her a great avatar for it, don't think she's using it at the moment.
OB could I get a large black coffee with some pig waffles please? And if @angermanagement & @junkenmetel want anything it's my treat this morning. The sun is finally shining & it's put me in a happy mood :) -
Thanks, @junkenmetel;) Well, if you're treating us, @karen68, then I'll have an AngryBoy Palmer:] I didn't have to think about why she is a princess, she 100% deserves that title, interesting to know the origin of the page changer though, Karen:)
-
Hello, @karen68 -- delighted to make your acquaintance! Mind if I join you at your table? :-)
So kind of you to share your breakfast with us. OB, I'll have what @karen68 is having please; sounds perfect.
Thanks for explaining about the page changing thing. And @AngerManagement, I was just about to reply to you: You're not sure why @Kathy is a princess? Really? Really? :D
I'm not flinging much of anything at the moment -- I seem to spend more of my time here in the nest than I do in the actual games! Haven't had a chance to look at today's challenge yet, though. Last night I was exploring the new levels in Facebook Star Wars Death Star. It was a weird deja vu experience, because they're so similar to the regular game levels, but for some reason they seemed harder! I'll have to go back and work on getting my scores up. -
So, @Karen68, what are you flinging these days...or are you just puttering around the Nest as well?
-
@angermanagement perfect drink for the weekend of the Masters.
I can't remember who originally gave her the name, she or Ripsy would probably remember but it suits her perfectly!
@junkenmetel pull up a chair! I agree, sometimes I plan to go flinging, check in at the Nest, & end up staying on the site instead. I'm going back through some old levels in the original AB, it's kind of fun as I haven't played some of these levels in about 2 years. -
@Karen68 -- I agree, the original AB is a classic, and I recently found myself in there for a daily challenge, I think, and realizing how cool it still was. Plus the birds are stronger than I remember them!
I think that's the main difference I notice between when I play on the PC (my usual platform) and Facebook (which I play because I like the weekly tournaments and special levels) -- there's no "delay" on the native apps, so there are more explosions and breakage and whatnot. Which I like. :-) -
It is weird how that happens, I keep on planning to finish Hoth and CC with above average scores, but I spend my time here instead;) Ph yeah, and I chose that drink in honour of the golfing weekend, @karen68, who do you want and think will win???
-
I haven't played the original AB in 4 months;]
-
@Karen68, I hope you don't think me forward in sending you a friend request so soon, but since we are sitting at the same table and passing maple syrup back and forth and all... :-)
-
@AngerManagement -- you are such a SW fanboy; you're not fooling anyone. :D
-
Ooh...just noticed that the challenge is level in Hoth with the creepy mynocks! I love these levels! My scores are lousy, though, since I only went through them once, quickly, when they first appeared -- I don't think I even looked at the walkthroughs. So this will be fun!
-
@angermanagement I'm rooting for any of the Aussies as there's never been a champ from down under. Thought both Scott & Day looked impressive yesterday.
@junkenmetel no problem, I'll pop over to my friend list. I like to know who someone is before accepting, but I'm a big lurker so I certainly know who you are :) -
Yeah, @junkenmetel;) Trying to get back into Rio and Seasons though;] I want Lee Westwood to win, probably the best golfer to not have won a major, also, he's English;D
-
Thanks @Karen68. I think. :-) I tend to make an impression, apparently. But it's not entirely my fault, when certain other birds *will* be silly, there's just no way I can stop myself.
-
@AngerManagement, I wish I could get the Rio update on the PC -- it's one of my favorite games. It tried to update the other day when I opened it, but then the installation said at the end that it was unsuccessful, so I'm not sure what happened. It did throw away all my scores, though. What an idiot I am for not backing them up, even though I have a lovely icon in my Favorites from @E-Star so I can do that easily. Duh.
I'm just not really that big a fan of Seasons, for some reason. Except when it's, uh, the season for whatever season the episode is. The Halloween ones are my favorites, but it has to be autumn for me to really get into them. -
@angermanagement of course you have to root for an Englishman! Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch the last part on TV, as I'll be out later.
@junkenmetel don't worry, it was a compliment! ;)
One of the things I love about the daily Challenge is it takes us back to play a lot of these old levels we haven't seen in a while. Sometimes it's a curse as Ripsy picks some real annoying nasty levels but I can't help myself. -
@karen68 - You're absolutely right about the Challenge. AND about @ripsy seeming to go out of his way sometimes to drive us all to distraction by picking a level that is just completely frustrating. Fortunately for my sanity, my flinging time is limited and kind of random, so I allow myself the freedom to pursue the challenge only if the level interests me. Today's is really fun, so now I'm flinging away, and chatting happily with you and AM, when I really should be doing Other Things! I'll give myself a time limit, and then get back to the offline world...
-
Yeah, @junkenmetel, kind of the point of the Challenge, pick the toughest levels, make everyone crazy. I'm sure @Ripsy sits in his office rubbing his hands together & cackling with glee when each new level comes up :)
Think I'm giving today's a pass though, I'm already in the top ten. Probably won't be by the end of the day, but that's ok. It's nice to see the improvements everyone makes. -
Hi @all! Wow, i got to sleep a bit late today, 'cause my husband made breakfast for the Little Terrorist :D Ok, didn't sleep so long anyway, we've been out 'cause it's a lovely spring weather here :D
I'm just going to try the daily challenge, we'll see how it turns out to be :D Have a nice day/evening/night/morning everyone (in Finland it's almost 6pm :D) -
@mvnla2 I still am a selective friendship accepter, even though I am an admin. I think there are a number of ways to get in contact with me and one of them is the forum PM, it allows you to send a PM to every member of the forum. And if they slightly know me, they would also know they can either find me in here or in the NO PU sign forum thread I have made. But who knows, if I do encounter people are looking for me and not being able to come in contact, I might change that policy. But for now I want to keep my friendslist a list of actual friends I know and have talked to, or if they have filled out their profile and I can get to know them a bit before accepting a request.
-
Hi, @E-Star -- so lovely to chat with you again. Thanks for sharing the story and the badge image; it's gorgeous, and quite befitting a princess!
I'm glad you had a nice day out in the garden! Unfortunately, it is a bit chilly and cloudy here (normal for this time of year), so I will probably work inside. Actually, I have quite a bit of crochet work to catch up on. I have to finish a sample for a workshop I'm teaching in May called Design a Crocheted Spring Scarf. And I have to make lots more of those fun crocheted roses like the one in my avatar -- I have all kinds of lovely fibers to play with. I discovered that I can just stick a hair comb through a few of the yarns on the back of one of the smaller flowers, and it works perfectly as a cute hair accessory! Probably really something that is more appropriate for children, but an adult could wear one in more sophisticated colors.
Good morning @Lisko! Glad to hear you got outside also. Good luck with the daily challenge; even following the excellent tips, I couldn't get my score much over 80K. Time to put down the mouse and pick up my crochet hook now... -
@JunkenMetel - you do crochet too? :D I'm probably a weirdo 'cause I'm (only) 28 years and I just love all the crochet works :D At the moment I'm working with a blanket, so far it seems that it'll never be ready, but who cares I've got upcoming years to make it ready :D
-
@Kathy -- How is DZ-4 doing? How long has it been running?
@JunkenMetal -- We are conducting a "science" experiment to see if total destruction on Space DZ-4 is still possible, or whether it was changed in the latest update. So far none of us have seen it. We're running iPad (Sunshine and me), iPhone (Burbman), and Android (rd and Kathy). It takes several hours to overnight, and was definitely changed by the Space update v1.5.0 in March 2013. Verdict still out on total SD, although it is looking unlikely for iPad.
If you're inclined to join us, send me a PM first. Don't want you spending your time repeating what has already been done. -
@JunkenMetel Thanks! and indeed it is lovely to see you again! Sorry the weather isn't that nice over there, just love the fact we can have the doors to the garden open and have the outside and inside together. Have fun crocheting and if you want to show them in your album, I would love to see the new work. And a great idea of the comb!
-
@Lisko Hey!! Isn't it great, Spring finally came and I am loving the air and the sun! Might I ask who is showing in your avy (is it me or did you actually just change a couple of minutes ago?)... Your son perhaps?
-
@Lisko -- you're certainly not a weirdo! Crochet is a great fiber craft/art for your whole life!
My grandmother taught me when I was about 9 or 10, and my mother always crocheted and made some beautiful afghans. I got into thread crochet at some point and made a bunch of the classic pineapple doilies and some decent snowflakes, but I was more into knitting for quite a while.
But I happened to get snagged into becoming the crochet instructor for one of my Local Yarn Shops, and I've really gotten into it lately. I've reached the point where I'm starting to play and design on my own, not just follow a pattern, and that's really fun.
If you're on Ravelry, we should connect over there. If you're not on Ravelry, you should be! :-) -
Morning @Estar, @mvnla2!
@lisko you're never too young to crochet - my aunt taught me how when I was about 8 years old & I've never stopped (I'm in my mid 40s now). Crocheting & knitting for me are a wonderful relaxing thing (Angry Birds has been known to raise my blood pressure).
It's nice to hear spring is settling in somewhere in the world. My tulips & crocuses (crocii?) are trying but we had 2 days of snow & freezing rain last week so I'm hoping they survive. Today is looking better though. -
-
Lisko?? You are not a weirdo for liking crochet! heck I love arts and crafts all my life and al though I am not a crochettor (probably not even a word but mwaah), I did cross stitch I think from the age of 15. Haven't done it in a while, but I loved doing that. Not the grandma designs, I did a ... I know not the standard subject to cross stitch... a Skeleton with my hubby's website (which he doesn't use anymore) underneath it. I had a program that made a photo or drawing into a pattern. After that I started a painting I loved, but after 6 months I stopped... the colors weren't coming out right and it was to much work to undo all the stitches again. Any way drifting of here, No age limit attached to arts and crafts in my book, so nope not a weirdo :)
-
Hi Karen, good morning... almost dinnertime here, but as a night owl, this can still be considered morning as well!
-
@Karen68 -- uh, oh, don't tell me you're another fiber person too?
We should definitely all connect on Ravelry; it'll keep us from driving everyone else crazy with the fiber talk. Because I don't have many friends who also do it, and I have a tendency to get a little, uh, excited about it.
We could start a group over there -- AB Nesters Flinging Fiber, or something. :-) -
@E-Star - Yeah, It's my son who's at the moment going around the house wearing only a his leatherjacket :D It really is great that the spring comes! There's a lot more energy to do all kinds of stuff! Can't wait that all the snow melts away and I'll get my hand in the flowerbeds :D
@JunkenMetel - Haha, All my friends thinks that I'm a freak 'cause I just love crochet and cross stitch and everything where you need to be "awake" :D My granny did a lot of crochet, but my mum is more into knitting, she makes sweaters and that kind of stuff. I'm still amazed that she can knit a sweater in max. two days O.O She has taught me how to knit, but I can't help it, I'm so lost with all the loops and stuff :D
What's Ravelry? o.O Never heard of it before (though I live in Finland so I don't think that's so famous site in here :/
Edit: @karen68 - Thanks! I just love the feeling when you're concentrating to something particular and that's why I love cross stitches, crochet and that kind of stuff :D -
Oh heck @Estar, I always forget the time change! Good evening!
Not surprised to hear you are crafty, with all the wonderful avatars you create :) -
@junkenmetel never heard of Ravelry either, have to google it.
-
Oh, and @E-Star - My cross stitches have been more or less on the fantasy side :D I just love dragons and that kind of stuff, and I've found some really great models to do them (ok, the models aren't free, but I'll gladly put 2€ into a model that I really like and from which I can make art for my friends too :D
-
@Lisko - ravelry.com is kind of like the equivalent of ABN, but for people into fiber, and it's HUGE. They now have 3 million users, and lots of them are from all over the world, just like here. It's free, and there are lots of great features. When you register, you have a "Notebook" that lets you record and note all the stuff you have in real life, or things you're interested, or whatever. For example, you and keep a record of your yarn stash online, which is pretty amazing. You can keep track of the projects you're working on. You can search a ginormous database of patterns, using really excellent search tools to find exactly what you want. There are heaven knows how many forum groups for all kinds of things: special techniques, local yarn shops, people interested in a particular designer...you name it.
It's a wonderful tool and community and resource; I use it all the time. You can find me there as lchalifoux.
Hope you joing @Lisko and @Karen68, so we can connect and encourage each other and show off our projects and what not.
Without, as I said, driving everyone here nuts about non-bird related matters.... -
@JunkenMetel - Thanks! I'm at the moment going there :D
Geez, I'll be sssoooo busy with everything and yet I'm making a registration for another forum :D Soon you'll see that I've gone totally crazy :D
Edit: @JunkenMetel - I think my username is Liskojenyo :D -
Hee indeed it does give us all more energy doesn't it Lisko, love Springtime!
LOL Karen, IKR the timezones really are confusing. Maybe we should have a symbol next to our avatar that shows which part of the day we are on :D
Sorry but like I mentioned, almost dinner time, so I am hitting the shower to wash away half the garden that is still on me and under my fingernails :D
Have a fab day!! And JunkenMetel, please don't stop chatting so enthusiastically about crochet... that is what the Bloated Pig is for... talk about everything and ANYthing we want to share! -
Thanks @junkenmetel, I'll have to check it out. I agree with @lisko - another website, another forum! Have to find the time somewhere..
Lunch time approaches, got to run. Thank you all for the chat, hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Sunday :) -
Have a great day, @karen68 -- and thanks for breakfast! Hope to see you on Ravelry.
@Lisko, I know what you mean, but I do try to keep my online activity down to just a few places. Right now I have three where I'm active, but even that's a challenge! I'm updating my projects now; hope to see you soon! Hugs. -
Hey, all you fiber persons. Amazing, so many of us are creative. I've never tried crochet, but do knit, cross stitch, tapestry, make my own curtains, cushions, garden (like E-star), and love cooking. OK the last two are not fiber related, but still creative.
@Lisko loving the avatar of your son.
@AngerManagement loving your SW stories. To my eternal shame, I've only ever seen the original. But I am a Trekkie! -
Hello everyone;) just popping in for a second checking keyboard settings?:)
