Rovio dropped a bombshell last night on Facebook and Twitter when they announced a new “huge” Angry Birds Seasons update coming in 24 hours.Â
In 24 hours Angry Birds Seasons will be getting a HUGE update with a brand new episode!
We don’t have a lot of specifics, but based on the above image one doesn’t have to be a Mathematician (*cough* @amslimfordy *cough*) to deduce the update is connected to the 2014-2015 NBA basketball season. I mean, the image shows a basketball arena, a 24-second shot clock and an official Spaulding NBA basketball. Wikipedia confirms that the 2014-2015 NBA season starts on October 28, 2014. This is a slam dunk!
This is not the first time Rovio has teamed up with major league sports in the US. Previously, we’ve seen collaborations with the Philadelphia Eagles for NFL football and Hockeybird is currently the official mascot for NHL hockey.
Speaking of NHL, don’t forget to send in your designs for an NHL-based level in the 5th Birdday competition (after you have submitted your designs for Angry Birds Nest and Pigineering levels, of course!)
As usual, we will have more information as it comes and will provide walkthroughs once the update is available.

Yay!! always excited for an update for seasons :) probably the second half of pig days will come with this update to!
@josm I don’t think they would release the second half of Pig Days yet because the other 2 levels of the first half of Pig Days haven’t come out yet
@rowdypup i dont think they will do an second update this month to release the second half. I think they will delete the coming soon text in the second half allready. we’ll see tomorrow
@josm my guess is that they will start on the levels after the last Pig Days level releases and my guess is that Rovio will finish sometime around November-December, but remember, it will take Rovio some time to make that Chuck themed world from the “New Year, New Tricks video unless they haven’t already started on the Chuck themed world

Update is now out. I can confirm the basketball episode (Ham Dunk) which is composed of 15 episodes plus 30 more if you purchase an NBA Season pass or some other method. Pig Days also has new levels, one of them referring to Halloween. We’ll wait for the official entry (since this comment might be deleted anyway).

Hmm. Since the birds don’t have wings, and the pigs don’t have legs, I wonder where they’ll put all the sleeve tattoos? For anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about:

er, @kelani I don’t think that would be very appropriate for Rovio to do with kids 10 and under playing this game
@Rowdypup. That was sarcasm, but since you brought it up, nothing about the NBA is appropriate for kids. I doubt that cartoonish tattoos on the birds or pigs would ruffle any feathers, and when compared against all their other image problems, that’s not even controversial enough to make the list. Besides, ~30% of Americans have some form of body art.
I don’t have any tattoos, nor will I ever get one, but I love watching tattoo TV shows like Ink Masters. Watching Epic Ink right now.
So much for catching up on my sleep this weekend.

I have already 3 starred all of the worlds except for Trick or Treat, so I hope this world wont be much of a pain…and…I LOVE BASKETBALL! :)
Season 4 (2014) will also need to have a Halloween update too! They will definitely have a Christmas world since they do that every year, and I was thinking of a Thanksgiving themed world and the 3-star item could be a cornucopia or maybe even a turkey!
Flu Season would be a cool world too! It could be set outside a doctors office and King Pig could wear a reflector *chuckles* well I don’t know…
Wow Season is really smoking…South Hamerican, The Pig Days and now NBA Basketball. Excitement is mounting and can’t wait to see the game play with birds, pigs and a basketball.

My best guess for AB Seasons would be the December/Christmas/Winter theme game. One level released each day.

It´s out on iOS now! It´s a new episode named Pig Dunk with 45 new levels! And a new power up.
A new power-up? Finally! That’s what the world was waiting for!
But the levels are fun. Instead of Mighty Eagle there is a Big Basketball.
And the rest of the Pig Days levels are there now!
Not the whole rest (there is still a “coming soon”), but most of them.

The levels tend to go on a while to let the balls stop bouncing so it won’t timeout on you too soon, AND there’s a screen exit button. The best of both worlds!
Did I miss something? I have Ham Dunk & then paid .99 cents for the 2 NBA levels but when I “updated” yesterday, there are no new levels I’m seeing! I’ve been having trouble w/ updates lately though, my “Friends Tournament” will not update this week w/ (OHA3) message – I’ve followed the forums & advice to no avail…. Maybe my iPad & iPhone are just on the fritz! Ugh… I really miss the weekly tournament!
@ubermom If you have the 45 Ham Dunk levels, I think you’re up to date. I don’t think you missed anything. It’s possible you got one of those weird duplicate update notifications. I updated Stella and ABSW2 a few weeks ago, and a day or two later, the exact same updates showed up as available. I installed them again, and they went away. If you are missing levels, and the forums haven’t been any help, I’d recommend opening a support ticket with Rovio. You can do that here: http://www.rovio.com/en/about-us/contact
@ubermom Yesterday’s update was bug fixes only. The forgot to change the description though, so I understand the confusion.

@ubermom — I was wondering that myself. I saw an update for Seasons this morning and thought they said new levels, but I don’t see them. I also got another AB update, but I wasn’t paying much attention to either. The second was clearly bug fixes.
Thanks for the clearing up the update! I thought my iPad & iPhone’s weird error messages w/ the Friends Tournament not downloading for me any more was leaking into my Angry Bird “escape reality world!” Panic averted! Haha!
