If you don’t like seeing ads or news items when you pause Angry Birds they can now be disabled by tapping “Postman Piggie”. To find this feature open up any level and tap the pause button. When the “Rovio News” items appear you’ll see a mail pig standing in the sun wearing a hat and holding a mailbag (see screenshot below). If you tap the mail pig the sunshine will give way to clouds and rain and the pig’s mailbag will be empty. You’ll also notice that the ads and news items will disappear.
From what we can tell this feature has been pushed to all versions of Angry Birds, including Angry Birds Seasons (right now it actually seems that Rovio News has been disabled completely in Angry Birds Rio).
I know for most this isn’t an earth-shattering update, but when Rovio News was first released it was met with a mixed reaction. Personally, I didn’t mind it, but my son did. Why? Well, he likes to pause the game right when the birds hit so he can see (and showoff) the destruction. I can’t argue with that. It’s nice to know that Rovio listened to the fans and offered a solution for those who wanted one.
