As many of the die-hard flingers know, the original Angry Birds app received a very unique update two days ago. The episode, titled Red’s Mighty Feathers, was met with a slew of skepticism to say the very least. Some players really loved the twist; some thought it was alright but a bit too different from the existing app; and some decided to use words that we won’t repeat.
Two days later, Rovio released a blog post with 5 tips on how to master this new gameplay (and we are working our own as well). But with that said, what’s more interesting is what appears after the fifth tip on the aforementioned post.
Also make sure to stay tuned for even more bird-flinging action! Due to massive demand, we are also making more of the familiar, classic levels for the Red’s Mighty Feathers episode.
That’s right! Whether you loved it or hated it or settled somewhere in between, Rovio has decided to return to the basics. Classic gameplay levels will be coming soon to an ABo app near you! And based on the image above, it certainly looks like any other level of the Angry Birds games we all know and love.
A few questions still linger:
Red’s ability: Will Red still have his special, head-hunting ability in these levels of Red’s Mighty Feathers? Based on the image, it appears so — I can see the feathers revolving around him in mid-air. This makes total sense, as that’s the whole point of the episode.
Retroactive ability — Just say No: Will Red’s special power be retroactive to earlier episodes of ABo? Since it wasn’t done in the v3.2.0 update, we don’t expect it to happen in the next update either. Rovio, if you happen to read this please keep Red’s new found ability specific to this episode and / or future episodes. Thanks! (I’m still of the belief that the new gameplay is a teaser and/or test for a brand new game)
Unlocking requirement: What will be required to play the “classic-style” levels? In full versions of ABo, any player can play the first level of any episode without restriction. After that, levels within an episode must be unlocked chronologically. In Red’s Mighty Feathers, will users be required to pass all 15 “Egg Defender” levels before playing the classics? Or will the first “classic” level be unlocked by default? Or will the “classic” levels appear on Page 1, while “Egg Defender” gets bumped to Page 2? Or does Rovio have something else in mind?
