The Mighty Eagle is now available as an SDK (software development kit). This means that other iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) game developers can integrate the Mighty Eagle into their games, presumably as a In-App purchase. Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, says:
The gameplay opportunities of Mighty Eagle are far too massive to be contained in a single game. By offering the Mighty Eagle SDK, we are giving other developers the possibility to take this fun, spectacular experience to their games and apps.
It looks like the first game to utilize the SDK is Death Rally, which is a remake of the 90’s car combat game. The GDC 2011 Death Rally trailer can be seen below. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t show us how the Mighty Eagle will actually be used, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
