Angry Birds Join the Philadelphia Eagles for New App

Angry Birds Join the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles: New Game Coming this Fall!

This just in! The NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles have signed several unlikely — and very angry — players: Rovio’s Angry Birds. Out of this we should expect a brand new, hard-hitting, Philadelphia Eagles branded Angry Birds game, merchandise, and a collaborative marketing push this Fall. In some ways the new partnership sounds similar to what we saw when Rovio and Fox partnered up to bring us Angry Birds Rio.

It also sounds like there will be a new character — or possibly a spin on an existing one — “The Mighty Philadelphia Eagle”. Details are sparse at the moment, but Andy Reid, Head Coach of the Eagle’s says in the video that, “The fifth bird is our secret weapon. The Mighty Philadelphia Eagle has been putting in a lot of hard work this off season, but wasn’t quite ready to make his debut.” I guess we will just have to wait and see.

The The Wall Street Journal is reporting that this partnership, “will include everything from social media initiatives to integration on local team television shows and even in-stadium displays.” For example, “according to the team, if defensive lineman Trent Cole sacks New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, the stadium’s video board will dump the traditional sack animation for a new one–an animation in which Angry Birds character “Big Brother Bird” Terence knocks Manning over.”

That’s it for now. As always, we will keep this post updated as more information becomes available.
