Angry Birds Friends Upcoming Tournament Mania and more!

As we all anxiously await for some news about upcoming Angry Birds updates or games, Rovio continues to update and improve Angry Birds Friends, which has been receiving brand new levels every week for years now.

What’s New

Angry Birds Friends Tournament Mania: Rovio will be hosting 5 special tournaments in 10 days, starting Monday January 18th. That’s a total of 30 new levels!

The format of the tournaments should be similar to the current ones, with some changes:

  • Tournament 1: Starts Monday January 18th – Duration: 24 hours.
  • Tournament 2: Starts Tuesday January 19th – Duration: 24 hours.
  • Tournament 3: Starts Wednesday January 20th – Duration: 48 hours.
  • Tournament 4: Starts Friday January 22nd – Duration: 72 hours.
  • Tournament 5: Starts Monday January 25th – Duration 72 hours.

You will notice that the Tournament Mania ends on a Wednesday, which leads us to speculate that the new Tournament start date will be Thursday from now on.

Angry Birds Friends Carnival Tournament: Scheduled for Thursday January 28th.

Be sure to check:

Just a friendly reminder that scores obtained using Power Ups are permitted on our Facebook and Friends Leaderboards ONLY, so long as these Power Ups are used legitimately and without any hacks or tampering. We monitor these leaderboards very closely, and any offending scores will be removed.

If you notice any other changes, we’d love to hear about them!

@sal9 Are there really 6 levels per tourney? Rovio advertises them as 5 “MINI” tournaments in 10 days. I was thinking they would have 2-3 levels per tournament but not really sure. 6 levels in 24 hours seems like a lot.

@dcp77 It’s hard to tell, but mini could also mean short in duration.

@dcp77 Chirp & Sqawk! There’ll be 5 tournaments with 6 levels each. We know that it’s a lot, but the eggs are not gonna save themselves… ;)

Additional heads-up: After the 10-day Tournament Mania, Angry Birds Friends Tournaments will start on Thursdays. So the next tournament will start Thursday the 28th, the next Thursday the 4th etc.

Look on tournament poster – all birds are Toons design, except one forgotten green bird… Maybe another look change?

That will be nice challenge to beat and a good moment to change dates of tours. For sure it’s easier for devs to start them in update days (chance to repair bugs).

Lower rewards amongst friends too. There aren’t any promotion/demotion arrows, so it may be that our league scores will remain static. The main objective will be to 3-star each tournament so you get the birdcoin bonuses.

Just two other people in my Diamond League? Is that the reason why it is called a “Mini-Tournament”? ^^

I was really happy to see these mini tournaments coming, especially that I succeeded to rank as #1 in my league. That was the case about 2 hrs ago when I suddenly noticed I was ranked as #23. All of a sudden. Also noticed that other people who were in my league in the morning, suddenly disappeared. Does Rovio keep changing the league members for those are supposed to win that league just to force them to buy more power apps?? It sounds like something really unfair for me. Did this happen to anybody else?
