With the Angry Birds Facebook launch only days away, Rovio has released a bit more information about what is likely its most unique feature: Power-Ups! Per the screenshot we included in our original announcement, it looks as if there were going to be five Power-Ups available; however, we only have details for four of them at the moment. If there are more we will be sure to update them here. For now, be sure to follow us on Facebook (if you already haven’t).

Things to keep in mind as it relates to Power-Ups:
- Power-ups are limited use, so you’ll have to use them sparingly.
- One can receive Power-Ups by receiving a “mystery gift” from a friend. These gifts are random, so you can’t predict which Power-Up you’ll receive.
- You can purchase Power-Ups, or bundles of Power-Ups, for $0.99 and up. They can also be earned via game play.
- Unlike the Mighty Eagle, power-ups can be used to help pump up your scores, thus improving your ranking on the leaderboard.
- You can use some Power-Ups together. For example, you can use King Sling with any other Power-Up.
- King Sling and Sling Scope are applied to all the birds in the level.
General Q/A:
- How will you earn Power-Ups via game play?
- We don’t know exactly yet, but will try and find out.
- When you use a Power-Up and achieve a highscore will the leaderboard show what Power-Up you used?
- No, at this point in time it shows up just like a normal score. If you want to compete on a level playing field with friends just agree to not use Power-Ups.
- How is the Mighty Eagle used? Will it be used in the traditional sense (i.e. collecting feathers) or will it be considered more of a Power-Up?
- It is used in the transitional sense; however, the Mighty Eagle is limited. You have to purchase or earn more just like Power-Ups.

Birdquake – Rattle the Battle

Do you guys know if you can use the power ups right away after you used one or you have to wait a certain period of time?
Power-ups are single-use, so there would be no reason to “recharge”
Nice videos. But I don’t want to sing up to Facebook because that. It has been nice if Power-Ups come to ABO, ABS and ABR (but I think it wil only be on ABF).
I like keeping the classic apps classic. I think the idea of Power-Ups is interesting and will work on an online source like Facebook, but I would not want to see it on ABo/S/R. It would require re-doing nearly 800 levels.
There should be a whole other ABF app with power Uppsala, but they shoudnt call it angry birds Facebook.
Nice videos, especially the Super Seeds- how many times would that come in handy? :) . I still don’t think this will make me sign up for FB, but I think the power ups will be very cool. Thanks for keeping us up to date with all the news.
These power-ups look like a cool feature. I feel like these could also be received when you post an activity on FB, like sharing gifts and what not. I’m still looking forward to sync! :D

Two questions, regarding the ABN leaderboards:
Will power-up scores be allowed on the ABN leaderboards?
Will there be a seperate leaderboard for ABF?
1) No, these scores will not be included on the normal leaderboard.
2) Maybe, but creating an entire board is a lot of work. So likely not immediately, but maybe down the road.
Let’s hope Rovio doesn’t go over the top with ingame purchases.

From your photo of the FB screen (original announcement) it looks like Mighty Eagle will be treated as a power-up??? BTY, BL and Slim deserve kudos for keeping up with Rovio’s releases. There are only two of you (I think) and hundreds (?) of them.

I didn’t forget FujiToast (without him I wouldn’t have that many 3*s or feathers). As usual I am relying on ESP to communicate that I was thinking about the effort keeping up with Rovio’s releases re Facebook, and it appears that this is being handled by BL and Slim. I would hope Fuji is resting in Fiji in preparation for the big effort on 2/14.

My understanding was that Rovio was quite unhappy with their WP7 experience. So I’m not sure Rovio will be adding other apps. Just speculation though.
Angry Birds was created for touch screens. Can’t imagine that playing on a computer is that much fun.
It takes time to get used to playing AB with mouse or trackpad. If you’ve played AB on touch screen first, it’s hard to get the same grip with mouse or trackpad.
With my new PC, I can go either way, ad it came with a touch screen monitor.
I have all 3 PC versions, and I’ve played all web iterations. And yes, actually it’s quite fun.

Why pay to get a power-up when you can just play and get it for free.

I’m leery of FB myself, having no real use for it, so if the app isn’t living up to its billing, I’ll close down the account I started. But I do want to see the app, and play some levels first.

I think ABF will be ABS. I don’t have a FB account but when I click go to app on the Angry Birds Welcome page, in my address bar it says apps.angrybirds.com/angrybirdsseasons .
No, that’s the Seasons greeting cards app (you can print greeting cards), not the AB Facebook app.

It can get dangerous only if you allow it (posting inapropriate stuff/photos of you etc).
The only thing that’s shared is you name.
But anyone can view your whole profile. And there is a lot of cyber bullies there.
You can choose what people can see.
Your profile is basically your description.
You could make an email and account that has nothing to do with your name or description.
I will look into it then, because many bad things ore sometimes on the news about facebook.
Actually, I think I could say FB profiles are almost the same as ABN profiles.
If you choose “private” for most of the security settings (maybe all), even people who know you have a Facebook account can’t find you, and no one can see your profile or personal info. You do have to spend some time doing this. There are people whom I know, that had to ask me to be their friend, I couldn’t ask them! (Of course, I’m just learning to use Facebook, so …)

Rovio made it that way.
You can create a bird only on mobile devices. But you won’t be able to play the game on mobile devices. Does this make sense?
