Angry Birds Epic Pig Lair Level 2 Walkthrough | Chronicle Cave 9

Walkthrough strategy video for Angry Birds Epic Pig Lair Level 2 (Chronicle Cave 9). Pig overload! In Cave 9 new enemies are summoned regularly so pick your bird line up accordingly. Personally, I found that Pigiana Jones’ counter attack works great in this cave, especially when given to a bird that damages all enemies. Cave 9 was added in the v1.0.14, which you can read more about here.

I’m at level 30, with master paladin, and the rest elites. So far even with level 41 borrowed bird or Pigiana Jones, I haven’t been able to get past a wave or two. Any suggestions, or do I have to get to level 33 before trying? I also have only one complete set (sweet) and some random set items.

It’s possible my legendary sets made things easier for me, but my favorite group for this cave ended up being Paladin/Archmage/Pigiana.

At first I started with Princess instead of Archmage, but the Archmage combo worked much better/faster, if prone to occasional failure when too many pigs gang up on someone at the wrong time. Since you have the Sweet Set, that could make Princess better than (Arch)Mage for you.

I used my Protector’s Aura set on Red. The Critical Hits are very useful not just for the extra damage but to also get that extra bit of healing every so often. Since you don’t have that complete set, it might be good for Red to at least have a weapon that deals criticals.

For Chuck I used the Time Jump set. The 23% increase in HP and the 15% Hocus Pocus matter much more than the occasional extra turn. It’s possible he’s just too easy too kill if you don’t have those buffs (or the 10% defense bonus from Protector’s Aura), unfortunately.

My goal was to keep Counter activated on both Chuck and Red as much as possible (can be a challenge when dispellers are about), and concentrate on quickly taking out the mini-bosses.

It’s nice when Chuck gets attacked multiple times in a turn, as long as he has Counter on him… that just deals out a ton of damage to all the pigs, plus Hocus Pocus keeps him healed up. Note that the healing from Hocus Pocus is much greater for Archmage than for Wizard, because while Archmage gets 15% healing on the damage done to every pig, Wizard does not get 15% healing on the chain damage. I haven’t tried Lightning Bird in this cave, but he could be an interesting alternative to Archmage.

Where to use the Rage Chili is a tough choice. Sometimes it makes sense to do a bunch of damage to a mini-boss at the start of a round, but I usually preferred to use it on a Chuck to get a bunch of all-around damage and a bunch of healing simultaneously.

One small correction — I guess my Chronometer is actually a Might variant. So my Level 32 Time Jump Archmage does 352 damage per pig. With 15% Hocus Pokus healing power, with 6 pigs being attacked, I’m getting around 300 healing per attack, which negates most of the attacks in the cave.

@ralph @cosmo2503 — Finally got it! Used my master Paladin, elite Sea Dog, and Cosmos level 41 elite Princess. I’m at level 31 now, so I’m sure that helped a little.

@ralph — Thanks for the reply. Hope you see this.
You didn’t say what level you are.
Unfortunately, I play on iPad, so can’t even get the Archmage. And I don’t even have a single set item for Red.

I’m level 32 now. I think I was level 30 for the first Pig Lair levels, then level 31 for the middle 5 or so.

Mage isn’t that much worse than Archmage, and Master Paladin should make up at least a little for not having any set items. (My guys were all elite, no masters.)

But with the healing bonus from the Sweet Set (I don’t have that set), have you tried the Paladin/Princess/Pigiana combo?

@ralph — Just tried the combo you suggested. I may not know how to use it correctly. I don’t often use Princess or Pigiana. At any rate, I didn’t get through first round.
For anyone else trying this. My mistake was not using the Princess to keep Red’s health up, and pigs switched from attacking him to attacking Pigiana in the middle of an attack, and knocked him out.

Good to see you made it through buy using Sea Dog (I’m still saving my Lucky Coins to buy him). I can imagine he’s really useful at knocking out the last pig before a new one comes on the scene.

The way I did it with Paladin/Princess/Pigiana was to make sure the pigs attacked just Paladin (which can be accomplished through either Royal Order, or by using Devotion on both Princess and Pigiana), and keep Counter active on Paladin. Ideally you’d have Devotion active on Paladin.

Between Paladin healing with every counter attack and Princess also chipping in with some healing, it works pretty well. It does get to be challenge when you’re being dispelled, but if it was too easy, I wouldn’t it find that fun.
