The title pretty much says it all. Rovio just released the teaser video above that shows a suit of armor that looks an awful lot like a bird. As the video reaches the end the helmet opens up and your favorite red bird is inside.
This new game — whatever it is — will first launch in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Those in other countries will have to wait a bit longer or use a work-around to get it (we may be able to help show you how to do this in a later post).

But it seems to be a part of the domain angrybirds.com so Rovio might be updating the page soon.
Page code has only that word, but the page wouldn’t work at all if it wasn’t a planned addition to the domain. I think we can also safely assume the game will be called Angry Birds EPIC! based on this and the video.

But as we saw with AB Go!, the New Zealand beta testing was not sufficient at all.

@chriss I wonder same. I created NZ account to download AB GO! earlier and if this game is free I will be able to try it when it will be launched. But, really, why NZ is always first? BTW, I noticed that numerous other games had their softl launch in Canada first.
@cosmo2503: If you use a NZ account, you will lose all your other apps on your phone, right?
Not on Android 4.2 or later where you can have multiple accounts.
I had multiple account on my gingerbread version 2.3.4
@chriss I have regular iTunes account in my country and NZ account and I didn’t lose any of my application.

It’s very easy. Sometimes u have to log out from one and in to the other but not often
@joeyba: I thought an iPhone can only be synced with one single account. So if I have my own country specific apps in one account and NEw Zealand specific apps on another account, I cannot have all my apps st the same time on my device, right?
When I install apps on my dads iPad I can sign him out and sign in me. So it should work with more then one account :)
Hm really? Okay I will try. But once the game will be available in my country, I will lose the progress of my second (New Zealand) account, right?
No @chriss you won’t lose the progress.you just need to update the game using the NZ account and it will be a different GC name for you seeing it’s another account.
How exactly can I update the game using the NZ account? I’ve never done this before, @joeyba.
@Chriss, sometimes when you have 2 accounts on the same phone and when you have to update applications downloaded from 2 different App Stores, you have to log out from one account and sign in to the other. It’s very easy. Sometimes it doesn’t even asks you to log out and in, it does it automatically.

Every time they do a cross over, like with Star Wars, they are cutting their profits. Medieval fantasy is a pretty open, generic category, so no need to piggyback off of another IP.

“Angry Birds Epic” seems to be a very apt name, since this game appears to take place in the “high fantasy genre”, with knights, wizards, and dragons galore.
The ending of the video scared me to death! rovio should not release a game like this!

@togs, I think @lovable-leaf907 means when Red fell off, leaving a headless suit of armor. It startled me too, as I was not expecting Red to scream at that point!

I hope it has at least classic-styled gameplay with some minor changes(Telepods,for an example)and new abilities.

Interesting post. After reading the post I went to the dictionary for a memory update on the word “Epic”:
a long poem, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures or the history of a nation.
synonyms: heroic poem; story, saga, legend, romance, chronicle, myth, fable, tale
“the epics of Homer” or “Iliad” or “Paradise Lost”.
Looks like we are going to have a story to go along with our flinging. I think Star Wars and Star Wars II did a similar format based on the story in the movie. As mentioned above their maybe some role playing but by whom, us picking the birds and pigs to fling, via telepods or Rovio with another new invention for character selection.
Story lines, poems, history of nations might be: “Knights of the Round Table” might be speculated. The new movie the “Hobbit” is of recent release could be considered. As mentioned above the “Lord of the Rings” could also be in the running. I got it, “Spamalot” alias “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, how I laughed till I cried during the play; may be on the upper end of graphic but it was funny.
Whatever Rovio presents it will be fun to play.

I would bet it’ll be similar to Clash of Clans. Rovio was great at getting their apps downloaded and then supplying free updates to keep fans satisfied but now they see the likes of SuperCell and other “Top Grossing Apps” in the apps stores and they are desperately trying to get a piece of that pie.
Telepods were a great idea (I never got any) but a game that thrives off of IAPs is HUGE in the gaming world these days. Great article about the ‘shift’ in mobile gaming.

If it’s a build and grow IAP style game with a medieval take on the Angry Birds franchise I think it would be wise to “soft launch” especially since we already know their server side is weak (Angry Birds Sync isn’t on all games yet).
Whatever it is, we all know that it’ll be probably be set in medival times.

I can pretty much guarantee that Rovio is not making a game based on a fan film. The trademarking liabilities alone make it too prohibitive to even contemplate.

Where is the trademark filing for this new Angry Birds title? I think “Starting in Australia, Canada and New Zealand” implies that the new game will be released for iOS first, then the Android version will follow if the iOS game is released in the rest of the world.

I was on the Angry birds App Store page when something caught my eye!
