About a month ago, we announced the creation of our customized notification system. The first thing on the menu was to notify you when an update landed on your primary platform. We had a few snags even after launching the system (who doesn’t?!), but we think it’s all ironed out now and the feature is a neat one (you can opt in via your profile BTW). So of course, the only direction we’re willing to go is onward and upward.
The newest custom notification just went live late last night and we hope that it will be beneficial to both individual users and the community as a whole. The goal of this particular notification is to increase competition and fun across the leaderboards and challenge.
So what’s the feature you ask?
You can now receive a notification when your “Top Score” gets beaten on our leaderboards! This feature has been requested for a very long time, and we’re glad to announce that it’s now a reality. Notice how we emphasize, “Top Score”. You won’t be notified of every score that gets beat — that would just be too much. You only receive a notification if a score on a level you hold the #1 spot on — the “Top Score” — gets beat.
A few notes:
- By default, all users are opted-in to this notification. If you don’t want to be included, select “Notifications” from the drop-down menu that descends from your username in the top-right corner of the site, then change “Someone Beat Your Top Score” to “No”.
- The alert applies only to the top scorer on any given level. So if, say, @birdleader held the top score on Poached Eggs Level 1-1 and I ended up passing his score by 50 points, BirdLeader alone would get a the notification — not every person whose score I beat.
- The alert is sent via email and also on-site, just like private messages (PMs) and “@mentions”. The on-site notification will bring you to the specific level’s leaderboard so you can see what happened (and the notification should be cleared out by clicking it).
- Since the notification is sent via email make sure your email is correct. Also, the subject of the email is, “Heads up! Your Top Score has been beaten!”, so if you have some fancy filters or rules you might want to create one for that.
I assume people will ask: “I’m not even sure if I HAVE any Top Scores! Am I supposed to look through all these leaderboards looking?!” Well, we’re half-a-step ahead of you. We’re working on a way to display all of your Top Scores in one simple list. For some users, this may be depressing; for others, extensive. But it should be good for all.
So why is this such a good feature? For one, you get to keep an eye on your precious Top Scores without popping any blood vessels. But perhaps more importantly, it should cut down on the longevity of fraudulent scores on our leaderboards. We have plenty of guardians who keep an eye out for trolls, but they appear on very random levels sometimes and can be difficult to notice. Feel free to quietly flag if your Top Score gets beaten by some absolutely ridiculous, insanely unattainable score.
Lastly, as with any new system, bugs are expected. We are aware of some minor issues with how the on-site notification is working, but we plan to iron them out soon and they only apply to a small number of unlucky circumstances. But if YOU notice anything funky, please let us know. It’s hard for us to discover these issues since we aren’t elite flingers.

But then, I’m not sure how many top scores are left. : ( I had one in ACB for quite a while, but it is gone.
I think this feature is going to be very useful for the tournaments and when new updates land. That’s when the competition really starts to heat up. We will continue to add more notifications for key events as well.
This is a great new feature. Love that you guys are always looking to improve the site’s functionality. Thanks for making a wonderful game even more enjoyable! I just hope that I never get this notification, since I only have one high score here :)

This is great news! I am glad this new notification is already activated. Can’t wait to be able to see the list of all my top scores.
Outstanding addition and will be beneficial to all members who are tracking them or would like to know if their’s TS is still current.
Top scores are like “sun rises”, there always is a new one and that is what makes them great and this new application very useful. Top scores provide joy and excitement when obtained but also a challenge to conquer when playing a new level or replaying the same level. It is going to be very efficient and effective to have this update service.
The top score update will provide a very useful attribute to the handful of “elite” players who play and become the experts in 1 or 2 games. These members have the mental abilities to ascertain the highest scoring strategies and the great eye-hand coordination to maintain a top score rank in almost all levels of their specific game over the years. (I am not one of the “elite”, just an average flinger, who plays and learns a lot from these great flingers.) We all know who they are by viewing the leader boards for specific levels and games.

Does this feature also apply to the top score recorded in the current challenge? This score may not be the top overall score for the level,

Wow, I like getting surprise presents! Thanks BL, Slim and all admins who made this feature come to life. I only have (or had???) one Top Score. But it’ll be fun to see the names on the Top Score List. Hmmm…i see another badge in our future…

I think it sounds great. I’m one of those people who can’t remember if I have any top scores, so I love that the feature to see all top scores at once will roll out sometime soon. ^-^

Top scores are fun, and I have a few here and there…but I find my biggest improvement can come on those levels where maybe I need a little more work, or a previously respectable score has fallen down the list as new strategies are found. I don’t know if this would be feasible, but I would find it useful if I could pull up a list of levels where my rank was better or worse than a value that I could input (say 500 for example). System could also potentially send me an alert when my rank on any level dropped below a threshold that I could set.
Brilliant! I had one top score once – for about 15 mins!! But one can live in hope and then try again if it gets beat! You guys are just awesome!
I once got a top score for less than 1 month, but I don’t sure that I still have any top score.
Well this update is great but I don’t have to worry too much about it. I don’t have very many friends that play AB Friends.

I got one of those alerts this morning that one of my high scores had been beat by a whopping 25k. Wasn’t posted when I pulled the up so I’m guessing it got deleted or corrected. Either way, nice feature.
That can happen if an admin (usually me) finds a vandal before anyone else. We can’t unsend emails tho ;)

Can it be possible to get the same type of notification if my score dips below average?
Hi – just wanted I got a notification today to say my top score had been beaten in ACB Big Juggling Pins #43 but when I went to the leaderboard I still seem to be number one. ( I hadn’t even realised I was still there!)
Guys this is great, thank you for all yor amazing work on improving this site and users satisfaction. I keep two top scores for certain time and have one that I got recently and I’d love to know if someone take it over.
I had strange experience with one of my top scores as for while one user took it from me and then he/she probably delete datas and I have top score on that level again.
nice, lol…. i got my first top score just hours ago,,,, it’s like it was made for me. hopefully this went into effect AFTER i reved the other slinger from first :)

I think my top scores have been beaten.
I like the idea of notification for above average scores that drop below average.
My goal has been to beat the average and have had only a few top scores.
