Making of the Angry Birds Seasons Year of the Dragon Animation

By now you’ve probably seen the amazing Year of the Dragon animation that Rovio released last week to coincide with the Angry Birds Seasons update by the same name. If you haven’t I definitely recommend that you check it out. Today Rovio released this video that gives you a behind-the-scenes look into how these animations are made. I for think it’s pretty cool to see some of these things.  I didn’t realize they used Legos to visualize the animation and storyboard the animation.  So cool!  Enjoy!

It must have taken a long time and a lot of work to produce the animation.

Yes, I noticed that, but I’m not convinced it meant anything, but who knows! :)

First report was last Friday I think? I don’t remember specifically.

When an Angry Birds update is forthcoming (or actually arrives), if you enter GameCenter, you will see the icon change to the new icon. With Rio, however, the icons are the same, so it looks like a “refresh”.

so how would you actually see rio’s refresh…?

You would see the icon disappear, then reappear.

Now that was just amazing.

The amount of time, resources, technology and human energy involved in making the video is just beyond anything I can relate to.

It was great to see that real humans speak into microphone to obtain some of the sounds instead of computer generated voices. Then again, their input maybe computer enhanced.
