The most significant change is that any app that uses loot boxes must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase. The article also says that Apple defines “loot boxes” as “mechanisms that provide randomized virtual items for purchase.”
To me, the GPM could fit into this category, since you have to spend Lucky Coins to use it, and the only way to get a significant number of them is to buy them in-game. LCs also have to be spent to try and get any mythic items, which are also randomized.
On the other hand, since you can also use LCs to purchase other items that are not randomized, like upgrades to your anvil and cauldron, maybe that will be just enough of a loophole for Rovio to avoid having to display the odds.
