There are no bots in the ABT leaderboard?

Home Forums Angry Birds Transformers Forum There are no bots in the ABT leaderboard?

  • Hi all,

    Roxio / Exient states they don’t use bots and the leaderboard is populated by real live people on Angry Birds Transformers.

    It’s going to be hard to prove, since to play a challenge, our device must be connected to the internet.

    I do have my suspicions about the bots (supposedly automated players who appear on the leaderboard and mess with your score), especially when I look at the behavior of the leaderboard.

    This is more apparent whenever you reach ranks 1, 2, 3 where there is a lot of constant catching up.

    Behaviors like:

    1. Too quick response of competitors:
    Initially there’s no movement of the nearby ranking players on the leaderboard for say the last 30 minutes to almost an hour.
    Then just when I finish a challenge, the nearby ranking players get active and gets many points too.
    I say it’s too coincidental, because I’ve noticed this leaderboard behavior when I play every hour, and have less than 2 to 4 hours sleep daily when the competition is on.

    2. Massive points at the first hour of the challenge:
    At the start of the challenge 00:00 GMT, everyone starts with zero points.
    I’ve seen players go up to 5,000 to 10+,000 points within the first play / first 5 minutes.
    And within 3 plays, they can go up to 30+,000.

    How is that even possible? even if they meet Unicron and Boss Pig consecutively 3 times?
    How unlucky… or lucky?
    Can someone who has actually done this please share.

    This happens usually when the previous challenge I have gotten 1st place, or a high score i.e. 20+,000 the previous day’s challenge.

    OK, in Roxio / Exient’s defense:
    1. Feels like they are making sure you really get challenged on Angry Birds Transformers and not bored.
    2. Maybe there really isn’t any bot technology used, as claimed. However,

    The same results could be achieved by:
    a team of people actually playing the game, and having multiple devices and / or multiple logins. Their sole purpose is to make sure players get a real challenge. There are teams in various places of the world, in different time zones so they can work in shifts.

    How can we prove, or disprove this bot theory?

    OK back to playing ABT…

    I mean no disrespect to Roxio / Exient.
    Just want to know, how to get those fantastical high scores at the start of the day’s challenge. Can someone who’s done it, please share, thanks in advance.

    Then perhaps I can carve out some precious time in the real world.
    I have Angry Birds Transformers before breakfast and going to work.
    Have been paying real money for this game quite a few times already, when I figure I just can’t get enough play time, recharges, gems etc. to get what I want.

    I love playing ABT! :) despite it’s many crashes.

    @armourbender getting high scores used to be possible in the first competition hour of the day. Before the Prime Time event (ending at 2nd Anniversary challenge), Unicron would turn up usually on the first or second gem recharge. I was able to build up to the 50 token level back then when this was in effect especially by focusing on beating Unicron and utilising the high character bonus into effect.

    However Unicron has not been turning up lately especially in the Smashing Punpkins Challenge as expected in the manner I have mentioned. So after that I also cannot explain how people are able to build up such huge leads. Perhaps you could by using more than 3 gem recharges and increasing your chances against Unicron? This I can only hypothesise after all not having done it before.

    Hope this helps.

    @ramonpontes

    I have mixed feelings about this. Sometimes, when I start the competition, I see people with skyhigh scores, but I really can’t tell that they are bots with automatic scores. The score is achievable, but the time they reach that score is really hard to believe.

    I don’t know if this is coincidence or not, but I used some recharges next to the end of the event, and I could find the boss pig, and Unicron, in two consecutive days, during the recharg runs. I bet that there is some relationship between using gems and the bosses showing up. This could explain high scores at the very beginning of the game.

    I’ve never tracked all the participants untill the end, to see their behavior. I saw many times the first player with unbelievable score going down (sleeping maybe?) and another player taking the lead on my group.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I think that Exient / Rovio may change things in the game so it may not play the same.
    So we need to adapt our gameplay and our theories constantly.

    @xunhq
    , yes, once a recharge by gems to 4 full bars, then by the 3rd consecutive run *usually* big boss with the nasty missles appear. And noticed unicron *usually* appears after playing too hard, too fast, too often i.e. keep playing after 2 consecutive recharge by gems. Note that some event last month, unicron never appeared until the 2nd day.

    @ramonpontes
    , I’ve been taking pictures of the leaderboard. Yeah, I’m crazy paranoid ;)

    At the start of today’s challenge [Day 1 of Thunderstruck] at 0:0 GMT, after the second play, there’s someone (Hide) at Rank #1 with 1056 points.
    Rank #3 (Ian) has 837 points.
    Time remaining: 23h 53m 48s

    We know everyone starts at zero for the first play.
    We also know it takes 3 minutes to complete a play.
    Thunderstruck event today limits to the Seekers and the Cybertronians. No energons.
    So less “taking advantage” by using other transformers & energon weapons.
    Whoever Hide and Ian is, I salute him / her.

    The mystery continues.

    ramonpontes
    @ramonpontes

    @armourbender I’ve seen a player named Ian on my leaderboad too in the past events. Very hardcore player, or a very well programed bot, I still don’t know.

    <EDIT: PLEASE NOTE: I’ve put in more pictures and created a new post with more contents. Please see a few post down, thank you.>

    Huh, what happened to me today made me think about possibility of bots again.

    Because I can’t understand how this player, UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN could have gotten 28,503 points in less than 30 minutes!
    By the 45 minutes mark, UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN earned 34,995 points in 45 minutes!
    I just can’t understand what or how they do it, anyone got theories?

    If anyone wants the proof, I’ve got the pictures taken by my camera. Now if someone can please teach me how to insert the pictures into this forum.

    Thanksgiving live event, day of shooting armoured shooting pigs. 4th day I think. Event started 22 November 2016 @ GMT 0:00 and plays to today 23 November 2016.

    I am using recommended +90% Energon Grimlock at level 10 with Headphones +5 damage and Sword 10% weapon cooldown.
    Energon Weapon: using the recommended +20% PhotoBlast

    My time zone is GMT +8:00, so these data are local time:
    Starting at the almost end of the live event, 1 hour 19 minutes to go before the end at 08:00am.

    Now = 06:41am
    Me = Rank 1 @ 51,158 points.
    Arubapier = Rank 2 @ 46,021
    SmartBird = Rank 3 @ 44,046
    Dukes = Rank 4 @ 33,776
    UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN = Rank 5 @ 32,028 points

    1 game later @ 06:44am
    Me = Rank 1 @ 51,485 points.
    Arubapier = Rank 2 @ 46,021
    SmartBird = Rank 3 @ 44,046
    Dukes = Rank 4 @ 33,776
    UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN = Rank 5 @ 33,155 points, rising up…

    Hard reset the game on the iPad3, turn it off, charge my iPad3, then
    turn on the iPad3 and load Angry Birds Transformers.

    so, Leaderboard @ 07:16am that’s like HALF AN HOUR after my last game.

    UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN = Rank 1 @ 61,687 points (!!!!!WOW!!!!WOW!!!!)
    Me = Rank 2 @ 51,485 points.
    Arubapier = Rank 3 @ 46,021
    SmartBird = Rank 4 @ 44,046
    Dukes = Rank 5 @ 33,776

    What follows in the next 45 minutes till the end of the event, is a deadly battle against me (ArmourBender) and UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN
    as I keep on playing, sometimes not even recharging at 100 gems cost, sometimes not watching videos to boost the rewards, because these videos cost me time!

    Me: play 1 game, get +900 points then +970, +907, +928, battle Unicron +2772 @07:48am,

    At this point, 12 minutes to go before end of event.
    Me = Rank 1 @ 61,962 points.
    UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN = Rank 2 @ 61,687 points
    Arubapier = Rank 3 @ 49,057
    SmartBird = Rank 4 @ 48,205
    JP = Rank 5 @ 42,432
    (Dukes = Rank 7 @ 38,590)

    Me: Play 1 game, get +963 points, +1155, +772, battle Unicron +2171 @ 07:59am,
    at this point, just 17 seconds to go before end of event.
    So there’s not enough time to recharge for 100 gems, and fight again.
    I don’t even watch the video to double my rewards in case the video ends after the event and I lose my points in this last battle with Unicron.

    07:59am (Event ends at 08:00am)
    UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN = Rank 1 @ 68,343 points
    Me = Rank 2 @ 67,023 points.
    Arubapier = Rank 3 @ 54,664
    SmartBird = Rank 4 @ 51,045
    JP = Rank 5 @ 44,208
    (Dukes = Rank 7 @ 38,590) poor guy… gave up?

    OK anyone got a clue whether UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN’s score is realistic ?
    Please share.
    Thanks in advance.
    Have a happy Thanksgiving! :)

    @armourbender I feel sad for you with regards to your lost battle.

    First of all you can find in the member’s page by clicking your username, the Album link.
    Once there you will see “Upload”.
    Click that you will find a selection to upload from your device.
    Click save after the upload. It will bring you to your photo.
    Copy the “embed picture” URL and paste it to your post.

    I have one wild hypothesis to explain how the other guy best you. He probably “drove” through each run which didn’t have Unicron forsaking any points and then only playing the Unicron runs and killing Unicron each time. For him to earn that many points, he would have done A LOT OF gem recharge spending probably more than 1000 gems just to score on Unicron that many times to upset your score. Considering that the hour bonus was 2.2x all gained scores (with Energon Grimlock and Photoblast), it did seem a good opportunity for such a run however at a cost of gems.

    It is unfair for a lot of us considering that he should have just spent this gems “buying tokens” using those gems instead of upsetting the competition.

    ramonpontes
    @ramonpontes

    I “THINK” it is possible to play event nodes without refreshing your leatherboard score if you loose your connection. If you don’t leave the event window, you can play another event node even without internet connection. Your progress is saved locally, and updated after you connect again.

    BUT it is mostly unlikely because, at leaast for me, I cannot play more than two nodes without the game crashing.

    If the bot, I mean, the player could get a very stable game, and play several nodes offline, when they get online, their score would go skyhigh.

    Again, this is just a remote possibility to explain those absurd scores.

    rlc
    @rlcoone

    When you already have a simple explanation for how that could happen it’s silly to look for some complicated way for it to happen. It’s easy to see how it could happen with bots, the chances of someone spending thousands of gems and running through hundreds of runs just to come in first for a thousand tokens is just not sensible. If someone spent a thousand gems to to get a thousand tokens he’s a moron, in the token exchange the same thousand gems are worth two thousand tokens.

    Everyone should stop trying to find silly ways it could be done and just accept that Rovio is screwing us all with bots.

    ramonpontes
    @ramonpontes

    When you already have a simple explanation for how that could happen it’s silly to look for some complicated way for it to happen.

    So if we can’t imagine other possibilities, just the simplest one (the existence of bots), there is no point in arguing anymore. This topic is pointless.

    At least for those who have this kind of thinking.

    rlc
    @rlcoone

    You can certainly imagine other possibilities but how likely is it that whatever you come up with is happening to multiple people every day? It’s just letting Rovio off the hook and after all the bad things they’ve done to us, the obviously phony excuses they give for the bugs, and the long refusal to expand the game board do you really want to defend them? Do you really trust them?

    Go ahead and try to come up with some way the massive scores happening in an incredibly short period of time could happen but at least conclude that it’s not likely.

    Phillips
    @phillips

    @rlcoone to most people it is stupid to spend 1000 gems for 1000 tokens but some people get addicted to the game and get addicted to “winning” and the thrill of winning is more important to them then the simple logic of 1000 gems equaling 2000 tokens in the token exchange.

    Swing
    @swing

    There is so much cheating in this game that it is foolish to believe that there are no bots ever. If Rovio/Exient were running a casino they would be in jail by now or cheated players would have burned them down. If you don’t believe the examples people have pointed out, look at the lab and daily quests. Why wouldn’t they cheat in the competitions if they cheat everywhere else?

    Xun
    @xunhq

    @phillips I was bested by a late entry to the leaderboard on the final hour of the Falling Balloon Pig day. I could swear that the person (I cannot remember the yet another ridiculous username since I was too occupied to screenshot it) was nowhere in the board until the last 2 hours into the day.

    @lewie4
    Intentional bot or not, these entries are creating unfairness in the competition and it’s frustrating to a lot of people. There should be a way to prevent last minute additions to the board of an already stable leaderboard especially near the end of the day!

    The Dark Knight
    @elpapam

    @armourbender it’s obvious something is fishy here… I had opened again in the past a thread about Bots playing at the leader border but back then Exient members that didn’t come to comfort us for the so many nerfs, they only appeared when the heard the words cheating and bots… and there is where my suspicions become even more true about them.

    ArmourBender
    @armourbender

    Hi all, sorry it’s not showing the right screenshots.
    Will let you know when it’s fixed.

    The Dark Knight

    @armourbender i am seeing perfectly the images!

    ArmourBender
    @armourbender

    @elpapam yeah i’ve edited the old post above and put in the correct pictures.
    It’s working now.
    Thanks for noticing.

    ArmourBender
    @armourbender

    OK I’ve finished editing the last post. Put in more picture proofs.

    There’s more photos of the leaderboard after every round of play, but I guess unless someone requests for more pictures, that’ll do for now.

    So do we have a case that proves the use of bots, or it’s still not conclusive?

    Can we do something with Roxio / Exient?

    If we use some logic, it’s highly unlikely that in 30 minutes someone can score additional +28152 points. 30 minutes = 10 plays of 3 minutes each.
    And there’s the 1 minute+ every time they do a recharge.

    Will they encounter Unicron and Flying Boss Pig every round they play?

    What do you all think?

    ArmourBender
    @armourbender

    Personally, I’m kind of ok with the use of bots – as long as those bots don’t get out of control / agressive, keep messing with the leaderboard by getting unrealisticly high scores, and really sabotage our gameplay.

    Having said that, if this UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN was a bot, then I’m really FLAMING MAD! at the unfairness. Come on! This is no way to treat a paying customer!

    The bots (if they exist) can keep the game interesting, but surely there’s a cut off point to how often they can keep scoring, and by how much their score can increase.
    Put some limits or the game becomes too frustrating for humans! and we’ll leave the game.
    i.e.
    – limit them to say +10% increase in scores,
    – Keep them out of the last say 30 minutes or last hour of the competition please.
    – let them have times of sleep!

    The bots have nothing to lose.

    After all, being bots, they don’t need to sleep, eat, work, or pay for gems recharges, unlike us humans!

    Fellow ABT players, your thoughts are welcome please.

    Phillips
    @phillips

    Do you remember what the bonus was that day? For both the bot and the Energonicon.

    I disagree with you that bots should be allowed and if they are to keep them out for the last 30 minutes or hour as that is unfair to those of us who can’t play during the last hour. Maybe bots are required to provide the 20 players for the leaderboard but if that is the case then they should only have scores that reach the 30 token limit so they fill low positions.

    @phillips Thanks for your views. OK if the bots’ performance and working times can be capped somehow so that it’s fairer for us humans. Don’t let them get out of control like UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN!

    What I propose is, at some cutoff time, do not allow the bots to play at all and just go to sleep. And when they are working, they can lose gracefully to a human. Or come close to, but don’t overtake the score of a human by more than a certain percent i.e. 10% and for say, 1 time only.

    The date and time of the discovery of UEKEKSKWKEKJNRN’s super jump in scores by +28152 points is:

    My local date & time (GMT +8) is 07:16am on Wed 23 November 2016.
    That’s (GMT +0 / UTC) 23:16 / 11:16pm on Tuesday 22 November 2016.
    That’s (EST) 18:16 / 06:16pm on Tuesday 22 November 2016.

    44 minutes before the end of that day’s Happy Thanksgiving live event. Version 1.21.3.5. Objective of that day: Shoot the armoured shooting pigs.
    (oops I mentioned flying pigs in the previous posts, I’ve now edited them.)

    That’ll be the 4th day on this series of live events.
    Day 1 Objective = shoot the special Energon structures.
    Day 2 Objective = shoot the Sharktihogs on Cobalt.
    Day 3 Objective = shoot the Flying Pigs.
    *** Day 4 Objective = shoot the armoured shooting Pigs.
    Day 5 Objective = shoot the Balloon Pigs.
    Day 6 Objective = shoot the special Energon structures.
    Day 7 Objective = shoot the Flying Pigs.
    Day 8 Objective = shoot the Flying Pigs.
    Day 9 Objective = shoot the TNT Boxes.

    Happy Thanksgiving live event started on 08:00 GMT+8 on 19 November 2016.

    The recommended character bots to use at that time (for +90% bonus) was E. Soundwave, E. Grimlock, E. Galvatron, E. Prime.
    I used E. Grimlock.
    The recommended bonus energonicon to use (for +20% bonus) was Photoblast. 3 star, unleashes rapid photon beams.

    OK hope that helps!

    Moving forward, what else can we do with this info?

    Error in your post above day 8 was any/all pigs not just flying pigs.

    Hi all,

    As Rovio / Exient have introduced Sparks in the latest live events,
    it’s getting harder to track Leaderboard players’who may be misusing the system and getting crazily high, unrealistic scores.

    Apparently the Leaderboard will show your last Angry Bird Transformer / Decepticon used, even if it is the one from the Map.

    Too many factors to pinpoint accurately that the scores were fixed.

    Case in point: in the latest live event Rachet’ll fixit, since the game allows another partner and we don’t know the Sparks bonus percentage boost that the partner was using. It’s not shown on the Leaderboard.

    Versus the real life case study above, where it’s only 1 transformer / decepticon, and everyone has the same bonus percentage boost.

    Right, I don’t think Rovio / Exient will respond to my support post and look into this matter or Ban that user.

    It’s long past. Let history show we had one properly documented case with screen captures, scores, details but now there’s no longer any incentive to use this evidence.

    Sad.

    Let’s accept reality and move on.

    Let’s continue to champion justice and equality for fellow ABT players, past and future.
