Is it possible that the DDOS attacks on the internet in N.A. are screwing up Rovio’s servers? That would kind of explain what has been going on in terms of the level of opposition the last few days. The strength of the opponent teams is low, and it looks exactly like what happens if you play with your network connection shut off. (I know, I know, it simply isn’t possible to play without a network connection. But let’s assume for a second that it is, and *if* you could do it, (which you can’t), the teams you encounter in Arena are exactly like what have been seen over the last couple of days (i.e., strong birds with full sets, but banners without sets).)
My theory, for lack of a better name for it, is that Rovio has *just* enough bandwidth now to update arena scores, but not enough to set up opponent teams from other players. Therefore, it triggers the “play without sufficient bandwidth network” setting, which it also uses if you could play without the network (which, I know, you can’t). My hunch is that ABE has in it code that allows the game to proceed when there is a valid network connection but it can’t contact the server. So it goes into the CG team mode. And what has been going on the last couple of days is that Rovio’s servers are gorked somehow, so all of our games are in this weird network mode.
The zeroing out of scores for random players is also a result of this bandwidth problem. When the game goes back to the server to update the league scores, the server never responds. In this weird network mode the default action of the game is to zero out scores for which it has no current information.
It’s just a theory.
