Arena battle loses without a battle

I play angry birds epic on an iPad. Can someone tell me why I lose a battle that I haven’t even fought in the arena when the game decides on its own to restart after one of those poorly placed advertisements? I don’t understand why there has to be an ad prior to every battle. You only get 3 loses and losing one due to a game or ad malfunction is pretty frustrating. Thank you.

This has been a long-standing issue. We would recommend sending a message to Rovio Support about this.

The reason why it counts as a loss is because the battle technically begins when you accept the matchup. Therefore if the battle ends without you winning (no matter how you don’t win), it counts as a loss. The only flaw in this logic is exactly the issue you describe — when an ad kills the app. Otherwise it makes sense; it’s not fair to just close the app if you’re about to lose the battle.
