welcome @ELcapitano!
-
Hi all, good to meet you all. Been a member a while, but only really just exploring site and joining in :)
Kathy, its painful :) Like a trapped nerve or something. Had 2 days off and been playing on laptop alot, something in shoulder is moaning at me :D -
I've not got confirmation that Pigkiller isn't highly corrosive yet, but I'll have one :)
@karen68, Olympic chaos hasn't quite settled in yet. Today's commute wasn't too horrifying, but it can only get worse from here. There were more people on the Tube on the way home, but only on the station I got off at :) -
@angryboy @blahalb09
communication is the key..you all have to pull together and work as a team..try hard to get along..we all have our differences but we try to talk them out:) -
It happens Kathy, purely self inflicted, no sympathy, but a slight smile as it shows I've had time to kill for once :)
-
@karen68 holiday, in England, during the Olympics? that's brave :D I reckon I'll be working from home a few days out of the fortnight, but most often I'll try and drag myself in. I'm leaving the country (not far, only to Jersey) but between the Olympics and Paralympics. Don't think we approached that quite right!
@el-capitano, get a hot water bottle on that shoulder, soon as you can! Really does help :D -
London is crazy with these games lanes. Its just a money maker.. £130 fine for straying into one! It also 'encourages' use of public transport etc. But its still good to see the games here
-
Great idea hinarei, good excuse to make a coffee to. Ive just been using tablets and gels, they not much good though.
-
Morning everyone!
-
@harrystar6 Did you hear the news?
-
yeah, I keep hearing about the "Games lanes" being compared to ZiL lanes from Soviet Russia, but I think that's because our media are pessimistic misery merchants xD
Transport for London's "encouraging public transport" but only for tourists. It's advising normal commuters to walk or stay home :) -
Hey @angryboy & @blahalb09 yep!
-
morning/evening @harrystar6!
-
Morning @karen68
-
Morning @hinarei
-
Morning @Harrystar6 / evening;)
-
@rd -- Shall we give hinarei the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant you'll be laughed at many times to come in the positive way??? ; ) I would also assume he meant he's become a big fan of women's beach volleyball. ; D
Thank goodness for Google! Hate to tell you this but I had to look up Picard and Patrick Stewart.
@ElCapitano -- Welcome! Check out the ABN Members' Map while you're visiting the forum. If you're new to ABN, you might also want to read the FAQs and glossary under about on the gold bar at the top of the page. -

@karen68, Games lanes are whole sections of road or entire lanes designated for the sole use of Olympic officials, sponsors and athletes to speed up their access to venues and events. They've come in for criticism because swathes of road are being denied to London drivers, on penalty of hefty fines.
-
Kathy, no worries there, I wish, but alas im 30 with 2 kids :)
Morning Harry
Karen, games lanes are 30miles of exclusive, IOC, olympic 'family' use only lanes. Grid lock for London for the sake of 1300 odd cars. -
Morning @EI Capitano :)
-
I hope I'm given the benefit of the doubt, @mvnla2! Dads are laughed at by their kids, for good or for bad, but mostly its good humoured, or at least it should be :D
I can confirm I've become quite a fan of women's beach volleyball, yes. I'm sure there's merit in the men's game too, but it doesn't have the same attraction. Can't think why >>
evening to you, by the way! -
mvnla2, thankyou, I will check it out now... Sorry, the weary finger really struck a cord with me!
-
Gtg to school see ya @everyone
-
Thanks Kathy, yes, am doing a coffee and bottle to have while I read through it. Tired eyes, I read weary flinger as weary finger. ps How do you get the @'name' as a link/highlighted? (sorry if its in the forum map).
-
@Everyone in England, especially close to London -- We had the Olympics in LA a few years back, and total traffic gridlock was predicted. But it didn't happen -- traffic was better than usual, if you can believe. They banned all trucks (or maybe just non-local??) from the freeways during daylight, or at least normal commute hours. Enough people decided it was a great time to vacation elsewhere, that it wasn't a problem. And you probably know that LA has essentially NO public transportation.
Same thing seems to be happening this year with the predicted carmageddon when they close the 405 in Sepulveda Pass for an entire weekend! People figure out how to do without. -
/me waves to @harrystar6
Hope your day goes well!
I'm off flinging for a few minutes, folks. Back in a bit, but I need a bit of a break from Utopia after the post-update session (which turned into a 2-dayer...) Going to check out the challenge again quick :)
