  • @Kathy -- I keep hoping your experience is a thing of the past. Sad to hear it is still going on. Sounds like your company needs a good dose of sexual harassment training. Can't tell you how many classes I went to -- they always wanted a few women in the class.
  • @Sal9 -- So sorry to hear about Steinbird. I didn't know him, but it sounds like he was a personal friend of yours. Condolences for your and the flinging community's loss.
  • @sal9 I didn't know steinbird but it's sad to hear we've lost a member of the community my condolences.
a thought ...maybe we could give him/her an honorary place on the wall of Avatars?
  • @mvnla2 our company has yearly Sexual harassment training but it's a joke to some. sadly this guy isn't a bad sort he's 66 or close has a severe drinking problem. on Monday mornings i swear he's still drunk. he's harmless but I'd just had enough of his 'friendly jokingly comments. that day (happened to be a Monday ) he just went to far with his comments and I had a witness. the witness approached me later that day and asked if the comments had made me uncomfortable and said he would support me if i decided to bring it to anyone attention. also another coworker who I've mentioned prior comments in the past said he would also support me.so i reported it.
Me being the 'sympathetic person i am' when they asked what action I'd like to see ..i said (thinking the guy is old been there 40 years ready to retire) i said "well i don't like to see Anyone lose their job" he got a days suspension, had to watch the stupid sexual harassment video. then took a weeks vacation.
now is still uncomfortable because is a very small company (50 employees including management) i have to see him everyday. he's my dept. technical support guy. my boss has been good about it, if i need support now i just write it down, give it to my boss and sit in his office until the equipment i needed is fixed.
like i said at first this new boss didn't like me but I've proved myself since then. if it had happened 3 years ago I'd probably be out of a job.
    *breathe* Anyhooo...
hope all are enjoying this afternoon /evening; )
OB I'll have a Long Island Iced tea please and some crunchy bacon bits:)
  • OB I'll have a some W(h)ine please is on @zebung he suggested decanted Amarone ..No idea what that is but I'll try it ty
  • @sal9 Sorry to hear. Thoughts to you and @steinbird 's family.
@Kathy Order up a nice Amarone. Sorry to hear of the problems at you job. Never OK, even though he might be harmless.
  • @kathy @zebung either of you fancy a nice slice of fruit cake to go with your Amarone? The wine tastes like Christmas Cake! And raise a glass to Steinbird, who I didn't know, but a fellow Flinger deserves a send off.
  • *Raises glass to steinbird* *clink*
@hunnybunny ty anyway I'll pass on the fuit cake
Ty @zebung for the fine wine:) I know its never o.k and actually i was dissatisfied with the *punishment * but hey ho I'm happy to have a job in this economy and the less waves the smoother the sailing. so i just avoid the guy now at all possible
  • Sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations Ma. I'm not sure your boss did you any favors asking you what you wanted to do about it. First, that puts you in a tricky position. You could still be angry...vengeful...wanting his testicles served up on a silver platter. Or you could be scared of repercussions and want the whole thing to just disappear. Or, as it was with you, a little of both. Second, you don't know how supervisor is going to see you now. Your supervision should have at least vague guidelines established for these type situations. You don't fire one guy and promote another out of the area and make him someone else's problem. I've seen both extremes. And you don't want to come across as a "dyed in the wool feminist". No @Mvnla2. It's not a compliment. he he
    Anywhoooo....I feel for ya Ma.
  • Thanks Pa ..that's kinda exactly the position I felt I was in. ..what to say..what to do..? well I still have my job and hopefully the guy will retire and my boss will get uhmm..politely asked to resign at some point. the upper ups are starting to see his ways. btw at the time 3 years ago when my old boss retired and this guy was giving me hassle I filed a harassment complaint against him asc well after he had my bf fired for defending me. .Ya is a long story. .
OB while I'm here I'll have a refill on the W(h)ine please ;)
  • Geez Ma
  • Yeppers Pa my sentiments exactly Geez..we all gotta do and suck it up to survive right?
I think I handled both situations to my better advantage. .having a report for both instances gives me job security I don't really care if they like me lol..I hope if they decide to let me go they like my Lawyer as well :)
  • *Passes flashlight to OB for safekeeping *
    night all
    nighty night Pa ♡
  • *I walk over to Ma expecting to give her a small hug in support of her problems. Then I see her lawyer hovering behind her with a video camera. It's dark, late, an empty bar and Pa's a married man. He doesn't need any problems. But now I'm too self-conscious to say "Good Night", thinking it may be found too personal. But what to do...what to say. You're standing awkwardly in front of her Pa. You need to say something. Think man, think! Never one of my strong suits.*

    sup Ma

*That's what you come up with "sup Ma". You're an idiot Rat. Go to bed.*
  • @rat9 I think that "sup Ma" was an excellent compromise, and certainly entertained me!

@kathy I've been retired for some years and thankfully out of all the workplace politics. But of course, I have two cents to add! I'm coming from the administration viewpoint, and have real problems with your boss asking you what you wanted to do about the incident. Absolutely inappropriate! As @rat said, this just puts you in another uncomfortable situation. There has been serious attention to sexual harassment issues for many years, hard to believe that in 2015 your employers don't have a better procedure in place.

My theory has always been that people spend the majority of their days at work. Yes, the work needs to be efficiently and correctly completed, but there has to be fun involved! We all work better when there is enjoyment involved. Okay, enough of that lecture. Time to go back to flinging. Taking a break from the mirror levels and working on Tropigal.
  • And the French Open men's final is about ready to start. Priorities!
  • Thanks for the two cents @catsnbirds; ) Yes it's an uncomfortable situation and I agree that my company really needs to come up with a better policy and get with the times. it's a family operated company been in business for 70 years passed down from Father to son. we deal mostly with government contracts You would think the policy should be stronger not asking the harassed to decide the punishment but hey ho ...Im laying low. .
    Sup ' Pa ;)
  • Good morning @catsnbirds.
I see you started on the other(wrong) end of Mirrors. Ma and I started our walkabout from Brass Hogs. Fair warning. I've been holding training classes along the way and Ma has left quite a few high scores for you to contend with. We left a bread crumb trail but don't carbo overload. We need it to find our way off this crazy world.
  • Nut'n Ma
  • Flinging Pa?
  • Not yet @Ma. Having a cup of coffee. I see you ran off another player from Mirrors. @CatsnBirds got to the levels you have already played, saw how high your scores are, and ran away to Tropigal.
  • Hello my feathered friends, sorry I haven't been around much lately. Struggling with health issues, but I saw @sal9 note about our respected member @steinbird and I just needed to pop in. So I haven't read up on the events, but I will after I have had the time and energy to catch up.

I too didn't know @Steinbird personally, but in the Nest we are one big family and it is such sad news we lost one of our own. My heart goes out to those close to him and wish them all the strength they need.
  • @rat9 I may have started on the "wrong" end of mirrors, but at least I got to enjoy some high scores before you and @kathy showed up!
  • @catsnbirds I posted quite a few good stRATegies for you along the way. And I didn't get all the points that were available or "all" the top scores. Ma got some. ha ha ha
  • Hi my shooting @Estar. You're moving too fast for me to catch you.
  • Ooooooohhhhh Aaaaahhhhhhhh *stares in utter amazement at the breath taking photo of the Pantheon *
speechless she breathlessly says in an awestruck whisper * thank you for sharing that @hunnybunny *
  • @Kathy @SweetP @anyone-else-interested-in-self-destroying-levels. I would appreciate it if some of you would check out the Google Docs version of the self-destroying and unstable levels list, and let me know if it works for you. I am particularly interested if the clickable table of contents is working. The link to the list is in the forum thread:
    http://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forums/topic/self-destroying-and-unstable-levels/
right before the table of contents.
The old table of contents and list are still there, but I plan to delete them soon.
I decided to move the list to Google Docs, where it will be a whole lot easier to edit. It was becoming very difficult for me to scroll through the list in the forum edit mode to insert new levels in the right place. Also, every time I edit the thread it goes to limbo because it is too long and/or has too much html.
  • @Kathy -- When I was working, anyone in a supervisory position, whether line management or program management, who became aware of probable harassment (sexual or otherwise) had a duty to report it to HR, with or without the permission or even knowledge of the person harassed. It would then be investigated whether or not the person being harassed wanted it investigated or not.
  • @mvnla
In response to your second comment. .at the time of incident I
actually walked up to the supposed "human resource/ payroll/accounting? girl and mentioned "Danny is being creepy " her response "well ya people "men" somtimes can be that way it depends on how you take it"
anyway on the other issue I'm not quite sure what you need but I'll check out the forum and see what happens ;)
  • @mvnla2 it worked for me. The link and the link to google docs. It's a bit red though!
  • Oh and BTW @hunnybunny and @catsnbirds To Heck (edited by user) with that darn (edited by user)Tennis French open! !
Pre-empted my Soap Opera for 2 Days! ! better not be on again on Monday or I'll hit the roof! ! lol
  • @Kathy @Hunnybunny -- Thanks for the feedback. I still have quite a bit of editing to do on the original post, so it will be less red eventually.
  • @kathy No worries, French Open is done until next year. Of course, Wimbledon starts later this month, may be some interruptions from that too.

@hunnybunny Yes, terrific four set match. I was torn, really like both Novak and Stan, so feel happy for Stan with his second major and sad for Novak for not finishing his grand slam this year.
  • Thanks @catsnbirds Im sorry watching 2 people hit a ball back and forth across a net doesn't hold my interest. although I Loved playing tennis as a teen..it's different from actually playing and watching .kinda like golf (sorry @mvnla and @mumsie) and even baseball. .fun to play boring to watch :/ Guess I'm more of a fast action fan..
OB I'll have some more of that Wine that @zebung suggested please. I hate Utopia I think its one of those idk whatcha call it oxymoron ? no that's not right but something contradictory?
  • Ma, SWDNF watches The Young and the Restless. I don't know Ted. Is he on Dark Shadows or As the World Turns?
  • lol pa:)
  • @Kathy @hunnybunny -- I think I'm done editing the self-destroying thread for a while. Got rid of the long list and most of the red. Have a few more minor changes, but I think I'll wait a while.
  • @kathy Sorry about those creeps at work, yuck -:( You sure handled it right tho'. . OB! A Pigkiller for the lady please! Maybe you'll win this puppy tonight, Princess:

  • @TomPuss That's how I slept until the age of thirty-five. Watching Maru reminded me how much I miss it. Can you be jealous of a cat?
