Angry Birds Mac: Crashes immediatly upon opening
  • So I must be the most unlucky person with this game. 1st all my iPod problems, now this.

Running on Macbook Pro(got it in Jan 2009) OSX Lion 10.7.2.

I played this game for a little earlier with no issues. Then I try opening it now, it quits and asks if I want to restore the windows, and it just crashes, every time. I've deleted the game and reinstalled twice and nothing works. On the 2nd time, I even made sure to delete my Rovio file so no trace of it could be found when reinstalling the 2nd time. Any ideas?

EDIT: Got it to work. If any of the Mac users here ever have this problem, use this handy tool:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/25276/appcleaner

As long as you delete all the "crash" files. It will work again. I do recommend making a backup of your settings.lua and highscores.lua files before doing this because it seems to delete all the progress you have obtained when this happens(not sure why, maybe I'm just really unlucky). After you clean it, replace the two .lua files you backed up with the current ones(go to Library -> Application Support -> Rovio -> Angry Birds [version here]).

I think the reason it happened for me is the game initially crashed and the game kept trying to restore the windows which caused a crash loop to happen because the game couldn't handle the restore process that comes with OSX Lion. Just a guess.

  • Another possibility is that os lion was trying to restore your open apps when you rebooted. I personally hate that feature.
You can disable part of it in your system preferences/general tab/number of recent items by selecting none for recent applications.
You can also uncheck the "reopen windows when logging back in" option when shutting down or restarting your computer.
  • Yea, I actually just disabled that feature. I just have no use for it and it really does get in the way. =/
