The Croods

I am just curious if anybody already tried, is it possible that Rovio made cloud for The Croods so that you can play on different devices and have your progress saved on line? I downloaded it to my iPad and I am in process of downloading it to android phone.

I have downloaded it to my tablet (Android) and it asked that I had to create an account, I could imagine you can play it with different devices, but not sure though. I can't try 'cause it's not available for PC :/
-
@lisko that account creating thing could be great in future if they ever sync playing AB games between different platforms. I play my games on iPad and android and it drives me nut that I can't sync high scores between them.
-
@cosmo2503 That's so true! Somehow you could imagine that when you've got an account, the progress you've made would be saved on your account. So if you're using a different device then just log in you could continue playing without starting all over again :D
-
I treid it and my progress made on iPad is saved that I was able to continue playing on phone and that's really great.
-
@cosmo2503 @Lisko -- Any verdict on whether the game is worth trying. Can you make any progress without buying IAPs?
-
Yes you can, iap will just speed up things.
I kind of like it. It's very different, well designed.
If you like this genre (strategy, low pace, no drama) ... it's worth trying. -
IMO, the IAP are pretty high, and i don't think I can make much progress until I buy some of them, but thats just me
-
@mvnla2 I haven't played much 'cause it seems that the server gets so rushed from time to time that my tablet can't connect to it. But so far it seems like a nice game, at least worth trying :) I'm not sure what level I'm on (probably 5 or 6) and I haven't bought anything. Of course there are stuff which you can get by paying, but so far it hasn't been necessary. You can level up without buying anything, but it's just a bit slower.
I like the graphics and the game itself even when I'm not a big fan of farmville and that kind of games :) -
A few months ago I got into clash of clans and got used to the "waiting game". I have yet to spend a dollar in that game and I have been able to do everything that I've wanted to, it's just taking more time. I've been playing the Croods since this morning and I feel it's very similar. Put in your time and you'll progress just fine, want to get ahead pay up.
If you ask me I'm glad Rovio has a game like this with IAP. There are so many of these out nowadays and hopefully the money they make will lead to some great things for the future.
-
@mvnla2 The Croods is worth of try. It is neat in design although I don't like sound. I believe it is not possible to play efficient without purchasing items but still it is possible to play slowly. I don't know if I'll get stick to this, I will try. Once I played game call Railway Rush which looked even better then this one, but I wasn't able to make any progress without IAPs and of course I gave up.
-
@cosmo2503 -- So you've confirmed that it syncs across iOS and Android?
-
@amslimfordy I lost progress on android phone as soon as I lost connection to Internet. I couldn't continue it on iPad, I was asked to sign in to my Rovio's account and when I did they ask me to confirm it although I already did it couple hours before. So far it is troublesome, maybe it's just me, but it seems possible that cross platform sync function well.
-
Yep, it seems that every time when it cuts the connection to server you lose progress. I think there is some kind of autosave, 'cause when the connection fails, it returns you to some previous point. I don't know how it works when using different devices, but that's what has happened to me when playing on tablet (Android).
-
It certainly should have some sort of autosave on device but I didn't figure out how to save it before I close app.
-
@cosmo2503 Did it put you right back to the start when you tried it after coneection was lost? For me it did it once and after that it usually saved some random point where I had been, but lost everything new and I had to do some chores again.
-
@lisko Is The Croods requires a internet connection to run ?
-
@lisko right like you said it didn't save any progress, I had to start over again. It's updated today and maybe it will fix problems.
-
@Aman Yep, you can't play without internet connection.
@cosmo2503 Have you tried again? For me it seems that there is an autosave as long as you quit playing for a while. If you keep the app running for a long time and make progress, it will all be gone if there comes a connection error. -
@lisko So thats a bad game for me because I don't have internet connection always on my Android phone.
-
@Aman Yeah, that's true. All we can do is hope that there'll be a version in which the connection is not necessary :)
-
@lisko I hope so :-)
-
@lisko I am sure now that once you made progress from level 2 to 3 you can continue at level 3, but I am not sure will it start from begining of level or exactly where you leave it.
Downside of on line playing is that my battery went from (almost) full to 30% in 1 hour of playing -
@cosmo2503 Yep, it takes you a few steps backwards, but it saves your progress at some point :D I think I had the problem that I was playing exactly when there was A LOT of players, so the server got so rushed. For me the best time to play is in the morning, but then it's evening in US and that means many users. But when I close off the app. and when I open the game again, it returns me exactly to the point where I was before quitting. So it must save your progress when you turn off the game, but if the server is rushed, then you need to take a couple of steps backwards :D

Am I the only one still playing Croods? The post on the main site has no new posts since my last one, and has disappeared from chatter. I am perversely trying to figure out how far you can get without spending money on IAPs. Basically, crystals are the hardest thing to get (so far), and if you don't spend them unless absolutely necessary, you end up with ~2 hr waits for some things you spent gold coins on to complete. Very nasty. I'm beginning to think Finland must have the highest standard of living in the world, because Rovio doesn't understand how expensive the IAPs are for people anywhere else. There also don't seem to be any daily rewards, so I think at some point I won't be able to make progress.
-
@mvnla2, I am on level 10 after 6-10 hours of playing without spending money on IAPs. I accidently spend few crystals on evolving houses and intentionally spend them on several traps. I just wonder if it is possible to trap any of creatures without at least 3 evolving. I guess I should make notes on every creature productivity and calculate time that I need to progress in the most efficiant way. I love removing trees and stones to make space for homes and decorations and you can "earn" few crystals as well.
Well, I don't know for living standard in Finland, all Scandinavian countries have high standards above EU averages, but also Finland is culturally and historicly different from other Scandinavian countries. Maybe @lisko could say more... -
@mvnla i am playing the croods, you can play throughout the game w/out IAP, it just takes a bit longer
-
@cosmo2503 & @mvnla2 Yeah, the standard of living is very high in Finland, though it's even more higher in Sweden and Denmark. I haven't checked what the IAP's costs in Croods, mostly 'cause I know that I can't afford them anyway. If you think that one AB game (bought from Rovio's webstore) costs 4,99€ and if you go to a store to buy it on a disc, it costs about 10€. One litre milk costs about 1,15€, even the prices are high the incomes are not. For example me and my husband are earning about 2500€ in a month, then you count off the taxes (which are about 20%) so there's 2000€ left. From that we pay our house loan, insurances, and all the bills and usually after everything we are left with about 600€ which should be enough to pay food, gasoline (at the moment gasoline costs about 1,65€/litre) and everything else.
Sorry for the off topic, but just thought that I'll tell you that high prices doesn't mean that finnish people are rich :D -
@mvnla2 I'm still playing. View my game from your, we are Game Center friends. I haven't spent a cent yet and have made it pretty far
-
@lostgreybird -- Actually looked at your game a bit the other day. What level are you on? I restarted yesterday, and am now on 6. I didn't see that game would show me your level?
-
@lostgreybird -- Looked at you game again. You are much further along than I. I think I've made some strategic mistakes if you are trying to play without paying, even after I restarted. We'll see how far I can get.
-
I'm on level 11 now. I have unlimited data plan on my phone so I've had the app open and all the time. I just tap the berries when they get full at 12 and store them in cave. I've finally built and trapped all the animals possible before you go over to the new area. So right now I'm just dumping all the food on the different animals and fully leveling up everything before I build on the new part.
Once you level up enough Grug attempts to build an "elevator" over to the other area. You have to give him stuff similar to making the soup. I'm trying to get over there so I can clear the place out, get crystals, and finally level up the berry tree so I don't need to monitor it so much.
