Rovio Gamecenter Sync Page 1
  • With this break in releases (I know, I'm spoiled) I started playing Clash of Clan. Which is amazing btw. When I first started playing it on my iPad I wanted to see if it would sync to my phone. Sure enough when I opened it on my iPhone there was my village just the way I left it on my iPad.
I don't understand the behind the scenes of syncing but I notice CoC syncs through Gamecenter. What's stopping Rovio from syncing all their games through Gamecenter like this?

  • ... very good question. That would be a great idea :-)
  • Because Rovio doesn't want to sync games through GameCenter because that's not good enough. Rovio wants to sync games for ALL platforms: iOS, Android, PC, Mac, etc.
  • Why can´t Rovio do so you create a Angry birds account and you sign in with that every time you start playing. Then if you sign in with the same account on a other device your progress could be saved there. And they could make it work on all platforms.
  • Rovio have been talking about 'Angry Birds Sync' for ages now, and still nothing has happened yet. Syncing via Game Center would be a huge improvement for a majority of users, so I wonder what stops them from doing it. I currently play mostly on my iPad because it's the best compromise between portability and screen estate, and that's why I haven't even all versions of Angry Birds on my iPhone and Mac. If those versions could sync the progress with my iPad, I'd immediately go and buy them as well.
  • @amslimfordy do you have any info or at least could you assume when it would become possible. That would be the best thing for players like me, I play on iPad and Android phone and I wish (my the BIGGEST wish) to have my scores synchronized. In that case I would certainly buy PC version too.
  • Im hoping that it is this year. They have so much in the games now that they need this badly. Just like you stated above I'd go get the other versions if this all synced. Add in the fact that you can buy/unlock levels & buy powerups and its a must have now. I would probably look in to buying powerups if they synced to all my devices rather than me worry that I'll lose all my in game purchases.
  • So far the closest thing they have to the Sync is the AB for Google Chrome. If you have a google account, you can log into any PC and all your AB scores show up there.
And as mentioned in the first link, all versions of AB across all platforms must have the same levels. Chrome is the worst offender of this, IMO, but the bonus facebook levels on the mobile devices are not avail everywhere. Among other differences.

Not sure what platforms they would "Sync" but with the number of differences, this looks like a pretty large task to me.

Personally, I would like to see some sort of cloud backup/sync before new releases.
