Summer Olympics for Angry Birds Players Page 1
  • The Olympics start in July. Why don't we have an AB Players Olympics? The 2 or 3 highest scorers from several WORLDS (maybe those with a summer-like theme) could play against each other. I don't pretend to know how to do this logistically or whether it even could be done, but it might be fun, if possible. If not, well, it was a novel idea. Please let me know your ideas.

  • Great -- Glad you got this started again! I think it's a great idea. Maybe Rovio could figure out the logistics (@flassari). I think there is something similar for computer games in general, but this would be specialized. Maybe Rovio could even create some special levels for different competitions:
A level with all red birds
    all yellow birds
    all blue birds
    all bomb birds
    all WB
    all boomerang, etc.
  • @mvnla, I did email @flassari but have not heard back. Come to think of it, I may have emailed @Flassari with a capital F. I did get a notice that the message had been sent but if the capital makes a difference, it may be floating out in cyberspace. I really can't remember for sure. Is flassari just a nickname or is he Mr. Flassari? I'll try again at @flassari. On our way to Pleasantville, NY tomorrow but I can email as we head
down the road. Still have to pack.

You present some great ideas. I still like the idea of trying some of the more summer-like levels too.

    Thanks.
  • @mvnla. Speaking of emails, did you receive mine? Sent it today or yesterday.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • @Fooly8...Summer Pignics would be one of my choices. Piglantis would be good too. I also thought about Surf & Turf and maybe something from Rio. I like the idea of the Judge to choose the levels or maybe it could be a panel of Judges. Thanks for the suggestions.

  • @fooly8 The Olympics games don't need to be summer-themed, just difficult, IMO. I think the AB Olympics needs more than one judge to set up the levels and rules for entry.
How will you help set it up?
BTW -- If you don't know for sure that Duffy is male, you should use he/she or she/he. : )
  • @Flassari

I write to you with an idea I had for a
Summer Olympics among the winners of Angry Birds.  I thought we could pick
the winners from some of the Angry
Birds levels that have a summer theme, like Summer Pignic, Piglantis, Surf & Turf,
some of Rio, etc.    We also thought about having competitions among levels
like all Red Birds, all BB, all YB, all Bomb Birds, all WB, all Boomerang
Birds, etc.  We are hoping that Rovio could provide help with the logistics connected
with this idea. Please let me and let
me know your thoughts about this. We would have
to start soon to be ready for the "real" Summer Olympics.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Duffy
  • @mvnla, @Fooly8,

I am still partial to episodes or levels that are summer- themed and thus more in keeping with Summer
Olympics. I think Fooly8 has some great suggestions that we should keep in mind. Surely there are enough difficult levels (I certainly had trouble with a number of them, but then I'm not Olympic material)
to make it competitive. The trouble will be in deciding how many. But talk about judges is perhaps a bit
premature right now. First we have to see if there is enough interest to carry on. Maybe Fooly8
you could get your AB friends to add to this discussion with as much enthusiasm as you've shown. And just so there's no problem in future posts, I am a woman. Although I believe in it, that he/she configuration gets cumbersome after a while.

  • @mvnla2.. As you can see from the above post, I was not successful in emailing Flassari. I posted a request to him here because I did not know where else to try. I hope this works. I have never heard back from Slim although I sent him another email on Saturday or Sunday. I have no idea how much mail he gets so I don't know what a reasonable time is for a reply. I did ask him to acknowledge receiving it. That's all I have for the moment. I'll be checking in but I'll be occupied with my granddaughter's high school graduation and party. Saturday we are going to see Spiderman in the city. I'm quite excited as I've read that it is the most technically sophisticated Broadway play to date. Over and out.
  • @duffy @AMSlimfordy @BirdLeader -- @flassari seems to be out of the loop recently. Maybe there is some other contact at Rovio that Slim or BL could contact.
  • I'm sure Rovio has either their own plans or enough on their plates.
  • @Slim...does that mean that we should not pursue the idea of a Summer Olympics for AB players? And do you mean Rovio has other plans for some kind of Olympics? Please clarify.
  • I'm not aware of Rovio's plans.
  • Guess I misunderstood " I'm sure Rovio has either plans of their own"... And you didn't answer the question about pursuing the Summer Olympics idea.
  • Continue to read my statement past "or". It is my answer to mvnla's request.
  • @AMSlimfordy -- I may be wrong, but perhaps Duffy means, should ABN members pursue the AB Olympics idea?
From what you said, Rovio is either already doing it or is to busy to consider it. I assume the ABN admins are also too busy, so I am certainly not suggesting the admins take this on.
I am also not volunteering, since this would be a huge task. Not clear to me if anyone at ABN other than "deleted user" thinks they would want to do it.
  • I think you guys can try if you want to. We have a big project on our plate here at ABN right now, so it's you for us. The challenge is our quasi-approach here.
  • I did mean should ABN members pursue the idea. Thanks @mvnla2 for pointing that out. I know I don't
have the expertise to carry on, besides which the Forum had not generated a lot of interest in the idea, save
for a lot of youthful enthusiasm (much appreciated btw) by one person. So I guess we should call it a day. Thanks again mvnla2 for your interest & support. What happens now? Does someone close this Forum topic? Am I able to just delete it?
  • Forum will disappear into oblivion (off p 1), if no one else comments. You can't delete it. Don't think Slim will bother.
