@kathy our sales tax (VAT) in the UK is 20%
On everything counted as a "luxury"
About the only things that aren't "luxury" are food (not restaurant food), medicines and kid's clothing.
And we pay "duty" on fags and alcohol. Twenty Marlboro Lights cost me $13. No wonder I'm on an e-ciggie most the time...
I don't know what you call income tax, perhaps it's the same, but it's also outrageous - I'm guessing a bit here - but roughly our first $15000 earnt is exempt, from there up to $60000 is taxed at 20%, after that it's 40%

@E-star -- Have you noticed the slow start problem in Seasons?
http://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forums/topic/slow-seasons-restart/#post-102880
Do you have an inside channel to ask what's going on? -
OB whispers to the Blues "She'll be OK"
Mrs Bunny has been found in the garden, wandering around, muttering "Ham Dunk 3-15, Ham Dunk 3-15"
OB could get no sense out of her.
The ambulance was called
The straitjacket put on
A padded cell awaits
"Help me" she screams; as she is led away... -
@rat from my padded cell...
I'm currently smoking duty free ciggies £2.80 a packet (you do the maths) and drinking, dram by dram, a very fine Laphroaig QC, that cost twenty five euros in Gibraltar. It's about twice that here. An ABN friend of mine, who lives in Norway, tells me it's ninety euros there.
Europe is completely, truly, madly different on taxes and duties, although all the UK is the same. -
@Hunnybunny So you think smuggling is OK. It's only a matter of degrees. Just curious. At what level do you think it circumvents the intent of the law? he he *devils advocate* Btw, I'm not making a judgement here.
-
-
My apologies @Hunnybunny. I assumed you traveled and took cruises just to avoid the VAT on your ciggies. I stand corrected. ha ha ha
cc: @Mvnla2 (it's a fantasy bar) -
@mvnla2 I am sorry for the delay, I haven't been feeling to well lately and trying to lay low and gain back some of my energy. So far no luck :( With the same reason I haven't been playing much AB lately and haven't played the new levels yet. I will pop in the forum thread and leave my findings there, but I just checked I did update the app when it was available, but so far it seems to work like always. restart delay for me is 2 maybe 3 seconds and I am on the iPad Air.
@all sorry I have been so absent, wish I was feeling better and join you guys in the chatter and flinging. Haven't read every comment, but I did notice the VAT discussion. Our Dutchie rules are, the standard rate of VAT is 21 percent. There is a reduced rate of six percent for the supply of certain goods and services like food and non-alcoholic drinks, books, medicine. As for the income tax @hunnybunny we pay 36,5% for every euro up until 20,000 ($22k)... 42% for every euro above that up until 57,000 euros ($64k), after which one needs to pay 52% for every euro above the 57,000 euros! Ciggies are not as cheap as you bought them on the cruise over here, but still cheaper than $13... Over here a pack of 19 marlboro ciggies cost $6,75 -
@Estar sorry to hear you are unwell, again. It's hard to believe that someone like you, who seems so vibrant, can be lacking energy.
And I will never complain about our VAT and taxes again. That's criminal; unless your Dutchie wages are astronomical!
Having said that, last time I stayed in The Netherlands about ten years ago, I couldn't fault your wonderful country. I guess you get what you pay for...
Other than the airport in Amsterdam, that I can barely pronounce, let alone spell. A transit a couple of years ago - never again, if it can be avoided
Schiphol?? -
@mvnla2 I think the tireless bundle of energy burned up completely by now :( somewhere at the beginning of this year it started with strange symptoms (which I still have in a bundle, to much to name them all), my pitbum is still an issue, I was overdoing it to some extend when I went to Finland and work has been slow goings for a long long time with the end result that my job ends at the end of July :((
after 16 years being practically a family, there is just not enough work for my boss to have employees any more... although I wasn't too worried about the future as me and hubby can manage and the government will provide support for a long period if I don't find a new job, it seems subconsciously that was the straw that broke the camel's back (weird saying btw, I needed to google that as we dutchies use the phrase: That was the last drop of water that overflowed the bucket). So I think it will take me a while to get back to my old self again, but will always be lurking in the corners of the nest ;) -
LOL @hunnybunny yes that's Schiphol ghi... I only been there once... this year, but it was just a check in etc and off to the boarding. So I didn't spend too much time there.
Not sure if our wages are astronomical, our minimum wages are I think somewhere 18,000 euros, but that is the bare minimum... I think the average is 35.500 euros... not that astronomical right?! -
@Annifrid -- You need to consider the cost of living as well as taxes. Have no idea what country is ideal, but when you're thinking of moving seriously, let all of us know, and we will give you whatever info we can. What field are you thinking of for your career? You may have said, but I've forgotten.
-
@Annifrid -- Not sure what temperature you are defining as "hot". For me it is definitely possible to have too much of a good thing. There's hot and humid, like a lot of the southeast U.S. -- All I can think of after walking a few feet in 100F and 100% humidity is where I can get a cold shower. Then there's really hot and dry, like Phoenix, AZ or Palm Springs, CA, where they have misters on golf carts, but you wouldn't get me in one anyway; I melt at 90F, and the temps in those places are often over 110F.
Sounds like you might have SAD (seasonal affective (?) disorder -- not sure what the A stands for). It's said that bright sun-spectrum lights in the winter can help. But, yeah, I know what you mean; I lived in Buffalo, NY for a number of years, and it was common not to see the sun for a month at a stretch. -
Hello! Anyone here? OB, I'll have a very tall glass of iced tea please. It's been in the 100's (°F) here, and it's not getting any better in the coming week! I was shocked to see the temp read 104° yesterday at 1:00pm. Every morning when I check what the temps will be like, I add another 5 degrees, because by noon it's already hotter than predicted! I'm like @MVNLA2, melting point at about 90°F!
@annifrid, there are a few places that you could consider as mentioned, but the weather during summer can be extremely unbearable. Choose wisely! -
@Kathy -- What is it about Mirror World Utopia -27 and PU's?
@Annifrid -- Kathy may be right about San Diego, but you need to stay near the coast. I thought @SweetP lived near San Diego, but just checked, and she's inland between LA and San Diego, in a very hot spot.
Even if SweetP doesn't live near San Diego, anywhere in southern CA, you want to be near the coast. -
@mvnla2 Check out the walkthrough comments. seems the trophy holder used wingman to keep the level from early time out. admins have been made aware but no action taken.
imo using a pu to change the outcome is Unacceptable whether or not you fling him. I'd just like to see more opinions on the matter. -
@catsnbirds if your lurking please take a look..
-
@mvnla2 thank you for taking a look. yes i really thought the person in question was a reputable flinger and i was very disappointed to see. i agree it's an old score..I'm surprised it wasn't questioned before now. I'm hoping admins will do the right thing but it seems is being overlooked that's why i brought it up.
-
@Mvnla2 FleshySkeleton put a screen image of his score prior to the power-up and it was 158k. After selecting the power-up it jump significantly because it acted as a stopper of the time out and allowed the points we can't get because of the timeout. I'm still curious why @admin have changed it to, or allowed Fleshy to change it to, 186k. That's 28k over his screen shot and still uses the power-up for assistance. Bad form ole' chap. @Sal9 made the correct ruling. But I think he didn't look closely at the score and assume it was just 10k too high, instead of 38k too high.
-
Pa I haven't checked, didn't realize they let him take 186k ..his previous was 196k no way of proof for it!
I think his score should be 158k as shown in his screenshot but that being said They did adjust i guess we can't ask for more. still a pu was used to affect the outcome of the level. I've just lost all respect for fleshyskeleton and the integrity of the boards.
sooo we now all have permission to put wingman in the sling on levels that time out early? -
-
@kathy Sorry it took so long, I was on the road and away from wifi for a bit. Did look at mirror utopia 27 and totally agree with you. I added my two cents to the walkthrough page.
