  • I second what @wanda just said!!!! @angryboy, just give the book a try, you have all summer to read it! Juat try a chapter a day! :)
  • @sunshine what are today's specials? why are the important subjects boring
  • @wrw01, here you go, extra special just for you! ;)
  • but it's summer........
  • @angryboy Have you ever tried audio books - reading with your ears. Your local library will have audio cds. I have hundreds and it is like listening to music. They take you to a different world of enjoyment and imagination.
  • I'll try it..... but at summer?
  • @angryboy, it's all about attitude, if you think it's boring it is, even before you give it a try! Think positive and things will be positive!
    Specials are:scrapple. Meat lovers pizza
Ham salad, pulled pork sandwich, pork chops and apple sauce, fall off the bone ribs
  • Summer is the best time, you don't have all of the obligation you have during the school year!
  • @angryboy Yes it is summer and that is the very best time to read.
Give yourself a chance in your life to experience the pure joy of emotions, life, wisdom, love and ideas from using your brain in the manner of how it was designed. Just as you post on this site, there is another world waiting for you to see and experience.
You can do it all, play AB, post on ABN, play outside and read.
  • I'll take the ham salad please.
  • I'll try to try it
  • @angryboy, here you go! I agree with @wrw01. The song "Blinded by the Light" by Manfed Mann gives me the feeling of the book Something Wicked this way comes!
  • I think the Avengers is a series of Marvel comic books, right? Another suggestion for you- graphic novels. There is a series of them based on classic literature. If you get an idea of the story, you may be more inclined to read the actual book.
As I started to type this, my netbook froze :(, came back to new page!
Audio books are also great, @wrw0, 1 I didn't think of those. My husband loves them. He listens on his way to and from work.
As for it being summer, some of my favorite memories are of reading a Nancy Drew mystery swinging in the tire swing :).
  • thanks. I've never heard that song
  • @angryperson How can you not be a reader? It's much more fun than watching TV, and better for you than spending your whole life on the internet.
Books become movies when they are bestsellers as books, e.g. all the Harry Potters were huge best sellers before they became movies. If a movie does really well and wasn't based on a book, it is sometimes made into a book. (Guess you're getting multiple lectures on this.)
About the M/P forum. Problems 1 - 5 were Slim's problems and required some knowledge of physics. Likely too hard for anyone who hasn't had a high school or college physics class. Problem 6 does not require algebra or physics, can be solved using simple math. Problem 7 requires some knowledge of physics and algebra. It may be too hard for a lot of you. I am planning to add more hints and something easier.
  • @sunshine Now I'm hearing that song! I just googled it and learned that Bruce Springsteen wrote it. I never knew that. The lyrics are creeping me out now :).
I found Farenheit 451 in my bookcase and I am requesting Something Wicked from the library. I might not sleep well.
  • that isn't right the only good thing to read is the Bible, I just don't like reading
  • I've never seen or read Harry potter
  • @angryboy Something to consider - you are a reader and you are a writer.
Look at your actions on the ABN site. What are you doing?
Your actions do speak louder than your words in your real time behavior. Just a thought...
  • @wanda, doesn't that song give you the feeling of that book? :)
  • @wrw01, great minds...I was just about to write the samething!! Lol :)
  • @angryboy...reading the Bible is great!!! It's filled with lots of great stories and I for one always feel better after I read in it ;-)
@sunshine, I know about the AA...you are correct about not being notified here anyway ;-)
@wanda...If I ever finish any books you will get 5 copies!!! I had started several children books when my children were young and started several others later on...but none of them finished...yet, maybe some day...another thing on my ever growing to-do list ;-)
  • @sunshine Why not, we both like the smell of coffee and toast in the morning and the aroma it fills our homes.

@angryboy Keep an open mind and consider all you read from us as helpful advice.
Please do not limit your options or let anyone else do that for you or to you.

TV, internet, games, books, reading, music, playing outside with friends, play by oneself, etc., they are all fine and nothing bad by their nature, so do what you are comfortable with but keep looking and trying new and positive things in this world and in your life. You have a natural need to learn, so learn about the things you enjoy and enjoy the process of learning through what ever media or method you desire.

@everyone I say goodbye!! Have to go to work. Hope you all find the day fun and rewarding.
  • Hello, everyone! I'm so happy, Utopia is out for PC!! XD
  • I'm too lazy to read 600 comments, so could anyone just give me a brief summary of what happened last night and this morning?
  • *closes eyes and prepares to look at e-mail (since I just made the BP a favorite last night)*
  • @sunshine yes, it is so eerie! I'll probably be hearing it all day :).
@wrw01 well said. Hope you have a great day.
@angryboy it's great to read your Bible! Don't lose your faith. Have a great day, and consider reading a book :). It's important to learn as much as you can. It does make you a well rounded person and help you to see things from different perspectives.
Hi @dorito and @blahalb09 hope you're both having a good day.
I definitely have to go for now. That closet won't paint itself :).
