I'm here @BubblesLover. I nodded off for a bit. Go get that top score back. You know how you got the good score. Get a higher one. It's what I'd do.
Hi @Ma.
I'm scared to post too often @Mvnla2. I don't want my inane ranting to be memorialized as the 100k moment. I'm scared they may have the counter off by a little just so no one knows when it will happen. Too paranoid right?
-
Hi @mvnla2! I'm here. I don't know about the 100k comments thing. Not slowing me down. ;-). I just got home from a nearly 6 hour drive. We spent several days of this Spring Break on our property in the hill country. Nice weather for the most part.
I actually read 2 1/2 books for pleasure. I haven't read like that in well over a year. All 3 books are water themed not for any particular reason, it just worked out that way. I started with 'Four Boys, Two Canoes, and the Guadelupe River by Mae Durden-Nelson. It's a local folk history kind of story about 4 teens who decided to canoe down the Guadelupe from their home in Comfort, Tx to the Gulf coast in the summer of '71. I've been getting into those kinds of local 1st person historical books as I can find them. Our property overlooks the Guadelupe, but much farther upstream from where they started. We have motorcycling friends in Comfort.
Next was 'Life of PI' by Yann Martel. My mom bought this book for my son for Christmas. I borrowed it to read because it looked interesting. Wow. What an incredible story.
Finally, I'm part way through 'The River Way Home' by Mary E. Dawson, another local history kind of story set in the Everglades. The author is an alum of my alma mater. I've spent a fair amount of time traveling to work in Florida.
Tomorrow starts bright and early facing students again. Hmmmm.... What's my plan? -
-
Night Ma.

Night Pa ;)

Happy St. Patrick's Day ♧♣♧♣♧♣♧♣♧

Hi @mvnla2 and all. Indeed, I'm never far away but I haven't been here quite as much since I finished Space.
This past week I've been on a quest to find the perfect pocket knife. The camping season will start again soon, and I'm looking to replace my old Victorinox Nomad (a Swiss army knife). If anyone has any tips for a general purpose folder that can also mince garlic and herbs, I'm all ears! -
happy St. Patrick's Day @everyone!!!
-
Happy St. Patrick's Day! And snow day number 11 for me.... Right now there's about 6 inches of snow on the ground.
-
I want the 100k page change... My bets are on Kathy though, as she seems to be the lucky one with page changes.
We'll see! -
-
Good morning & Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)
I'd vote for @kathy the Princess as well for the page change, she has to maintain her reputation.
Enjoy your snow day everyone. OB a large black coffee please. :) -
If we voted for who gets the 100k comment, it's @Kathy hands down. She's been here from the start. About twenty percent of the comments are hers. Start thinking of something profound to say Ma.

LA got a good wake up call this morning at 6:25. Bet half of LA is awake whether they want to be or not. 4.4 to 4.7 earthquake closer to Encino than Westwood (where the TV keeps saying it was). About 6 mi from our house. I was awake, but still in bed. Got me half way to the foot of the bed, scrambling over the covers. Two main shocks, first not that bad, but second got me moving.
-
-
Glad all is well @Mvnla2. Back in the early nineties, we had a moderate early morning earthquake in the high desert. We had a bed with a high heavy headboard with shelves on it. It almost tipped over on us. We bought a new bed that week.
Hi @Burbman. As @TomPuss is fond of saying, "How's it hanging". -
@Burbman -- Good to see you! Did you notice that we're on page 1998 and comment 99870?
@Rat -- No headboard, but the head of the bed is under a large window. During the Northridge earthquake we dove off the end of the bed, fearing that the window would break (it didn't). What sounded like every window in the house breaking was probably just my grandmother's crystal and a few other things falling off shelves. We moved the bed to the middle of the room for several weeks, and then covered the glass with an "earthquake protection" sheet of plastic. Supposedly if the glass breaks it won't send shards all over; nonetheless, diving off the end of the bed still seems like a good idea. -
Should also say Hi! to a few others who stopped by: @ABCrazy, @Burpie, @angryboy, @blahalb09, @AngryBirdsSpaceMaster, @BubblesLover, @Karen68 -- Haven't had so many different people on a single page for a while.

Hi @all Oh @rat, you're so bad! Actually, it was "How THEY hanging?", referring to the sphere problem you were having at the time :) haha. Still, always good to get a 20 on these things. . .
Going back to π, there's a great scene in "Person of Interest", Season 2, episode 11. I wanted to post the video, but it's unavailable here - I think because Season 2 isn't finished here yet. But if those of you stateside try, you may be able to find it. Just look under "Mr Finch explains Pi". Of special interest to you, @kathy! Someone tell me if you find it, please.
@mvnla So sorry you were all shook up, sounds really scary. Glad you're safe.
Night-night and sweet dreams, everyone xoxo

-
Sorry. I just created my first forum ever since the switch to the new ones. It's under "All Things in the Nest". Hopefully the admins will see a good new way to award points on the Nest. Do you have any ideas?
Anyway, what's up? -
I know nothing about basketball @angryboy:( sorry

It's an Andriod tablet, same OS that I have now. I should probably create a Rovio Cloud Account if it doesn't work.
