Cross platform scoring Page 1

Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but I was wondering about the "legality" of recording scores from different platforms/devices on the leaderboards - but not the Facebook variety.
Here's what I mean. I've got about 95% of my AB play on my iPod Touch - so that's where all my scores on the leader boards are from. But I have an Android phone and an Android tablet, both which have AB... but much less gameplay happens there.
If I were to receive a high score on one of the Android devices would I be out of bounds to post that among my IOS scores? I would think not since the gameplay is similar for all intents (unlike the power ups of Facebook).
What does the community think of posting scores on the leaderboards that might have come from different devices or operating systems?

That depends on whether you are playing the free or paid (full) version on iOS.
The Android version is equivalent to iOS paid version. So all AB scores from Android go in AB and NOT AB Free.
Free and Lite versions have different level orders or unique levels to the paid version.
I asked this question a while back, when AB released Space Premium for Android - the difference here though is just the lack of adverts and nothing else (as yet). -
Yes you're right - the free versions are different - so I am referencing situations where the game levels are identical between IOS and Android.

With only a few exceptions (i.e., the distinction between the two "Surf and Turf" boards; no Facebook scores allowed in ABo; no Chrome scores allowed in Seasons), you are welcome to mix-and-match. However, I urge you to be very careful when doing so, since it is very difficult to detect mistakes.
The benefit of only using a single platform is that I KNOW from looking at my Episode screen, that my score for Danger Zone is 3,131,785. But if I started mixing between my iPad and PC, I wouldn't have that clear "CORRECT" marker staring me in the face.
So to answer the question, yes, mix-and-match is OK, but proceed cautiously. It only really makes a difference when entering a Top Score, but still. -
Is Chrome's cherry blossom different as well? I haven't got round to playing it yet! :)

Yes it is. It's close, but there are no Orange Birds. Wherever there was supposed to be an Orange Bird, a Black Bird is used instead.

Thanks for the comments Slim - I doubt I'll ever have a high score so it may be a moot point. Since I have played virtually all of my AB on the iPod I'll probably consider that my official platform and just use the phone to kill time with. However, the tablet is intriguing since it may bring me closer to the experience some of you have with the iPad. I encourage others to weigh in if they have an opinion.
To me, the mechanics of aiming and firing on PC (whether it's Facebook, Chrome or Google+ is VERY different from a touchscreen. I know that there's additional reasons to keep FB separate (the powerups) but I think all PC (or mouse based) vs touchscreen play should be segregated. JMO. -
I mix and match, but keep a scoreboard spreadsheet that has my scores on each level by device so that I can compare my episode total like Slim suggested to the total for the respective column. I also created a high score column by using the =max() formula in Excel. The total in that column matches my episode scores here on ABN.

I'll keep my scores as entered under my Android device, but I also have an iPad, so I'll enter scores for those versions that are iOS specific, such as AB Free. Keeping them separate seems to be best, at least to me, as I use my scores on my device for error checking, to make sure I haven't entered numbers incorrectly.
I'll keep to that policy until the leaderboards get multi-platform functionality. -
@TruckDriver What do you mean by "multi-platform functionality"?
-
@birdleader I think he is refereeing to the capability of entering multiple leaderboards by user so that for example I could input my iphone scores in one leaderboard, and my Kindle scores in another. Both being tied to my username.

@Burbman interesting idea indeed...thanks.

I agree with @burbman, in fact, i mentioned this same idea back in June of 2011 in the Ideas for this Website forum. Since there is currently only 1 leaderboard per account, all my scores are from my Android phone. Also, since the updates seem to be coming fast and furious lately, I have not played the Chrome version much lately.
