Less than one month after the initial release of Bad Piggies, Rovio has graced us with the app’s first update. The update, v1.1.0, adds a new episode called Flight in the Night as well as some other twists, which we will detail below. It’s now available for download for iOS, Mac, PC, and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, with other platforms coming soon. If you are new to Bad Piggies, be sure to check out our original release post, which includes a lot of information about gameplay and a great tutorial video done by us.
This update includes:
- 15 new levels with 30 more coming soon. Like its predecessors, the first chapter of Flight in the Night includes 12 “normal” levels and 3 “bonus” levels. Remember that you do not need to perform all three required objectives in a single run in order to obtain 3-stars on a given level. Flight in the Night walkthroughs are live if you need help.
- More skulls!. Three new skulls are scattered across the 15 levels in this update. If you need help finding them, our Complete Hidden Skulls Guide has been updated!
- One New Sandbox level with another coming soon. These are very different, requiring you to collect 20 star boxes scattered across the massive level, using as many contraptions and tries as you need. We will be updating our Complete Sandbox Guide soon as well.
- Field of Dreams Sandbox, which we have a bunch more details on below.
- New objective that requires you to get the egg and pig across the finish line.
- Screenshot icon that when tapped takes a screenshot of the level and saves it your camera role.
No word on whether or not this will be available on all platforms.Appears to be iOS only at this point. - Fun fact! Zoom out on level 3-2 and scroll up and you’ll see a red and blue bird sleeping ever so soundly. The birds are making their way into Bad Piggies! They also appear in a few other levels?

Fields of Dreams Sandbox
New “Field of Dreams” Sandbox level that is available for $2.99 as an In-App Purchase for iOS and Google Play. It is now available for Mac & PC as well, and at no additional cost! This level is massive and includes 40 stars, not 20. It also includes a bunch of extra parts, including: V8 Engines, new wings, rockets, ropes, and more. Per the app,
“Unlock the largest sandbox ever. Vast selection of bonus gadgets! Challenging new stars to collect! Unleash your creativity!”

There are sleeping birds on several levels. Anyone know what to do with them?
I guess when the pig passed the birds and they distrubed by the vehicle noises & watch their eggs stealed, they chase and attack the pig.

It just my predict . . .
I (deliberately) crashed a pig into them in level 3-10. And I found that those birds are heavy sleepers. They did nothing!

Field Of Dreams sandbox costs money? What a rip, Rovio. I am not pleased.
I’m not thrilled about it, but not mad either. You get A LOT of play for .99 cents. I don’t mind paying more for more play. And 2.99 is pretty cheap comparatively. Some of the Eagles and Power-ups were getting a bit ridiculous in price.
Compared to a $60 console game, I will gladly pay $3 for additional content that will keep me entertained for hours. Heck, a movie only lasts about 2 hours and anymore with tickets and food, that can be upward of $20 easy.
I agree. I Will pay $2.99 for extra content and to support rovio for their amazing games
It seems that Roivo has given the players more in the last 3 months than there is time in the day to play and complete everything to a satisfactory level. Some of these we have had to purchase and others were free. Compared to other forms of entertainment, 2.99 is not expensive but it is still a luxury. I will do my share to provide revenue to Roivo because they seem to be giving it back to the players with new, exciting and innovative AB games. It is just truly amazing the amount they have produced.
Then don’t buy it. They released an update within a month of the actual release & gave you the “option” to pay more for a huge package.
I buy all of my stuff with gift cards and I am sad that I won’t be able to get the new sandbox level. It looks really fun. :(
I would never care about money. if they need it I give them what they want. they might need extra income for more updates and frenchise, then they need it… it may sound expensive, because we bought 30 danger zone levels for 1$ and we need to pay 3$ for one level, but money doesnt matter anyways

I guess I still feel a bit nickel-and-dimed about the Space Eagles and powerups too, even though I can’t use them (I’m a PC user).
At least in the first few levels, you cannot start your vehicle without the egg on board, although I guess you only need it to stay on board to the finish line to get that objective.

Looks to me that you need it for all objectives.

I really wouldn’t consider it stealing. Bad Piggies is an AB game. AB games are updated on Thursdays. the logic is that simple!
AB Games USED to be updated on Thursdays.. the last two have been on a Tuesday for both Classic and Seasons..
And BP is really not an AB game.. that’s kind of the point.. although having Bird cameos in this update sure doesn’t help to keep the distinction, cool as it is..
Thursdays are still somewhat the norm.

Found a skull kind of by accident in 3 II. Identified as 21/23. Haven’t seen others yet.
Skulls can be found on 3-4, 3-5 and 3-II.
10 skulls are needed to open the Find the Skulls Sandbox level.
So what are the other skulls for? Just for fun?
Likely more Sandbox levels in the future.
But the sandox level for the found skulls is numbered “S-S” (Sanbox-Skulls), as if there was only one sanbox level for found skulls. Okay, they can change it to S-S1, S-S2 etc.

One graphic showed a rope, where you can tow things behind you.. but I haven’t played it yet..
I am repeatedly having issues with this game. Since i 3 starred all the levels for the first two episodes, and completed 3 original sandboxes, everytime i try and move the pig while in the “building screen”, the app crashes. this also happens whenever i try to use tnt while in using the machines (which made the last few starboxes almost impossible to get in the last few sandboxes), and also when i cross finish lines, even in levels i’ve completed. what’s happening?? i hoped with this update something would change, and from the very first movement of the pig in level 1, to just crossing the finish line in the same level, i keep having to restart! what can i do?
I use an iPod touch 4th gen. Anyone have any idea what to do? Slim?
Have you tried restarting the device and clearing the multitasking bar? Could be a RAM issue.

Double-click the “Home” button on your iPod. This should pull up the multitasking bar. Hold down on any icon to make them “shake”, then click the “-” signs to clear them.
i completely cleared the multitask bar, restarted, and it still crashes as i just try to complete any level. any other tips?
Hey, I tried it out a few more times without luck, but I just quickly decided to open it thru my purchased apps list on the iTunes apps app, and everything works now! Incredibly bizarre… But just letting you know in case someone else has difficulties!

Unfortunately, I closed it to do some work, reopened it normally, then thru App Store app, and both ways aren’t working anymore. Any ideas? If I backed up my iPod, delete the app, redownload the app, then sync it again to where I backed it up, will I lose any progress?

Sorry for the delay. Backing up via iTunes is a good idea, but backing up via our method is better still. For the record, yes, deleting/uninstalling the app removes all progress, but using our backup tutorial will allow you to transfer it back!

For anyone curious: On 3-10, you can reach the sleeping red and bomb bird to the right of the start with rockets. Sadly, they don’t respond to having pigs dropped on them or their eggs returned (they’re part of the background).
Hope they appear in more episodes! but awake that time and as enemies of some sort.
I’d love to have Birds as enemies.
Maybe the objective is to run as fast as possible to dodge the birds’ attack.
Bubbles(orange) and Stella(pink) would be the hardest to dodge! but still, their abilities should remain the same.
I really hate IAPs. Everything else is cool. I also like the fact this update comes with only first 15 levels. Now I’ll have enough time before ABSW relase to improve scores on other games.
I am still getting use to this game, what’s hardest for me is my need to 3-star before I move on , as I do in Angry Birds. And with BP you don’t always get 3 stars on the same try.
Does anyone think they’ll make Bad Piggies seasons or Space that would be cool to expand game to the full extent!

Just found the answer, go in to setting, privacy, photo stream, and switch bad piggies to on!

HOW GREAT. I just 3 starred every level a few days ago, and 15 more levels came up. JUST GREAT.
I really like this game and i played most of the new update on the iPad but I,m wondering when their gonna put on android and mac.Also I,m wondering when the last 10 levels of angry birds space red planet is out because the last update was out in august.So any way keep me posted about these updates

Why aren’t you adding the updates of Bad Piggies to the update page? I think a lot of those who play AB also play BP and to get all the information about the updates in the same page would at least for me be welcome.
The “Updates” page right now is exclusively for Angry Birds.
Even though the gameplay is completely different, I think it qualifies as an AB game and should on the updates page.

Time will tell. For now, we will announce updates via posts on the home page. That seems sufficient at this time. Our News section has been broken up into three separate categories (AB, AA, and BP) for those looking for information exclusive to those apps.

Android users can’t have a screenshot function because it needs a root permission to take a screenshot (many users that don’t’ want to root). Except if Rovio found a way to take screenshots without root, that will be great
Android users (samsung galaxy) can take a screenshot by pressing the home button and the power button simultaneously. and release the power button and then the home button.

i dont no why but, if i play and i try a level, and i cant finish it, i get a free mechanic help, this happens 3,4 times by different level why?
You aren’t getting any free mechanics. After you fail a level a few times, they may prompt you to use one of your mechanics.

BP on iOS has been offering free mechanics since the v1.1.0 update when you fail a level a few times in a row.

This MUST happen ! I finished all sandboxes , with last sandbox that needs 10 skulls at 19/20 stars. ROVIO MUST add a Reset button to each sandbox so when we finish collecting the stars we can reset and collect them again ! SOMEONE MUST TELL them that

True, Rovio should provide reset for all sand boxes, after all it is a lot of work to collect all stars.

I’d like to commend Rovio for some excellent work optimizing the Android app. My three-year-old Droid probably shouldn’t be able to smoothly play as demanding a game as Bad Piggies. Indeed, when the game was initially released, the game would constantly become unresponsive for several seconds at a time, probably on the order of one freeze every couple of minutes. But with the new update, this annoyance has been almost completely eliminated. The app still doesn’t run quickly – a second on the game clock is probably equivalent on average to about 1.5-2.0 real-life seconds – but the experience is vastly improved without the freezing.
I have not yet seen this update for my Kindle Fire. Does anyone know if it is out yet? Sometimes my Kindle takes a while to find updates.

Unlikely. There is currently no in-app purchasing system for Rovio’s PC apps.

That’s not necessarily true, Slim. Danger Zone was the same IAP scenario as Field of Dreams, but on PC it was included free.
Danger Zone’s $1 charge was included in the initial cost of the app. Plus, this is a $2.99 IAP, so I doubt it would be added for free. It would make the iPad version more expensive than PC.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! I just found out a way on how Rovio could make the Field of Dreams and ME available for PC! here it is: you would buy the ME from the store and you would get an activation code, then you enter the code and ME and the Field of Dreams unlocks for PC! If someone would just send this idea (and give me credit) to Rovio, that’ll be GREAT! the Space Eagle and the Mechanic couldn’t be for PC because they’re limited characters.
This idea has been mentioned before. There are a few issues with such a system. Most notably, such a code would have to be single-use to avoid any “funny business” with manipulators. As such, if there are any issues with your app (such as needing to uninstall/reinstall the app, changing computers, etc.) then that code would no longer be valid.
I think you are underestimating Rovio. They are smart developers.
