Bad Piggies Complete Sandbox Guide

Welcome to the our complete Sandbox guide for Bad Piggies. The purpose of this guide is to explain how each of the Bad Piggies Sandbox levels are unlocked, how to get all 20 stars, and how to obtain extra parts to help grab those tricky boxes. Click on the image or title of any level below to check out the walkthrough video that shows how to obtain all 20 star boxes.

The Sandbox levels are quite unique, even within the Bad Piggies app. The goal in each level is to obtain all twenty (20) star boxes scattered across a massive, expansive arena-like level. You can use as many tries and as many contraptions as you’d like, but despite that aid, some of the boxes are very difficult. Additional parts for your contraptions are unlocked by obtaining more and more stars through Bad Piggies.

Sandbox Level S-1

Sandbox Level S-1 Ground Hog Day Level 1-12

Sandbox level S-1 is unlocked by passing Ground Hog Day level 1-12. The majority of these boxes are quite easily obtained using a simple cart powered by tires, fans, and a red “turbo” engine. The hardest box is what we call #5, high above the ground, which requires a precise TNT blast if you don’t have any means of lift.

Sandbox Level S-2

Sandbox Level S-2 Ground Hog Day Level 1-24

Sandbox level S-2 is unlocked by passing Ground Hog Day level 1-24. The majority of these boxes are quite easily obtained using what we call a “heli-plane”. Using two helicopter rotors atop the contraption and an airplane propeller on either end will make easy work of nearly every box in this level.

Sandbox Level S-3

Sandbox Level S-3 When Pigs Fly Level 3-12

Sandbox level S-3 is unlocked by passing When Pigs Fly level 3-12. Grabbing most of the star boxes will required crashing small floating contraptions that can be controlled by fans, bellows, and soda bottles. The box we number as #14 was definitely the most difficult in my opinion. This is the box in the extreme top-right.

Sandbox Level S-4

Sandbox Level S-4 When Pigs Fly Level 3-24

Sandbox level S-4 is unlocked by passing When Pigs Fly level 3-24. Don’t try to grab a lot of boxes in any given run with all the TNT scattered about. Most of these boxes are easy to obtain with a small heli-plane. Surprisingly, the boxes along the bottom of the level maybe be the most challenging, since they will require very specific contraption crashing.

Sandbox Level S-5

Sandbox Level S-5 Flight in the Night 4-12

Sandbox level S-5 is unlocked by passing Flight in the Night level 4-12. Most of these boxes are easy to obtain with a small heli-plane. You may need to use a bit of cunning in order to get some of the well-protected boxes, such as TNT within the contraption.
Video Walkthrough

Sandbox Level S-6

Sandbox Level S-6 Flight in the Night 4-24

Sandbox level S-6 is unlocked by passing Flight in the Night level 4-24. Most of these boxes are easy to obtain with a small heli-plane, though Krak-Snaps are common. There’s a few boxes that require fancier carts, like the box under the starting area. The last three boxes are pretty difficult as well.
Video Walkthrough

Sandbox Level S-7

Sandbox Level S-7 Rise and Swine Level 2-12

Sandbox level S-7 is unlocked by passing Rise and Swine level 2-12. Most boxes can be obtained using a three-box cart with a propeller and other small tweaks. Box #18 is probably the most difficult to obtain, though a bit of luck can make it easier than a consistent strategy.
Video Walkthrough

Sandbox Level S-8

Sandbox Level S-8 Rise and Swine Level 2-24

Sandbox level S-8 is unlocked by passing Rise and Swine level 2-24. It is definitely easier to obtain all twenty boxes in this Sandbox than previous ones. We use two basic type of contraptions: a simple helicopter and a suction cup cart. The both may require a tweak here or there, but nothing too complex.
Video Walkthrough

Sandbox Level S-9

Sandbox Level S-9 The Road to El Porkado Level 2-24

Sandbox level S-9 is unlocked by passing The Road to El Porkado level 2-24. It is definitely easier to obtain all twenty boxes in this Sandbox than previous ones.

Sandbox Level S-10

Sandbox Level S-10 The Road to El Porkado Level 6-25

Sandbox level S-10 is unlocked by passing The Road to El Porkado level 6-25. This video shows how to obtain all 20 stars.

Sandbox Level S-S

Sandbox Level S-S 10 Hidden Skulls

Sandbox level S-S is unlocked by obtaining 10 “Hidden Skulls” in Bad Piggies. If you need help, we have a Hidden Skulls Guide for all your excavation needs! Most boxes can be obtained with a small heli-plane, but only one or two at a time. Boxes numbered as #6, 8, and 15 are the most challenging of the bunch. For 6 and 15, a good idea is to include a TNT block in your helicopter to blast your piggy to the desired box.

Sandbox Level S-F

Sandbox Level S-F Field of Dreams

Sandbox level S-F is available as in in-app purchase on iOS. Most boxes can be obtained with a small heli-plane, but usually only one or two at a time. The boxes on the right side are the hardest, requiring a TNT-filled contraption to blast your piggy into the star box!

Sandbox Level S-M

Sandbox Level S-F Little Pig Adventure

Bad Piggies Sandbox Level S-M, also called “Little Pig Adventure”. The goal here is to obtain all forty boxes (count them: 4-0!) scattered around the massive level.

Sandbox Level S-D

Sandbox Level S-D Hidden Statues

Bad Piggies Sandbox Level S-D. This level is unlocked by finding and obtaining 10 Statues in normal gameplay.

I have a strategy that uses just ONE basic contraption – the humble four-square cart. You’ll need two large rotors on the first and fourth squares -and in between – two fans that will slow down the building height once airborne, giving more accuracy. You’ll also need two propellers facing left and right to move horizontally. Four wheels are required. You will need two large engines and one medium-sized engine to move, and of course, the pig. Just by tweaking it (i.e. adding more weight or an extra layer, using balloons instead of propellers, or even turning it into a three-square cart or removing the wheels), you can get almost EVERY SINGLE STAR BOX – IN ALL OF THE SANDBOX LEVELS! I’ve tried it, and it handles very well!

Agreed! Anything that can hover precisely and can be driven and flown easily will get 99% of the boxes. Every Pigineer has his own preferred style of construction too so I wouldn’t worry about “the optimal vehicle”.

There is none, so experiment! :)

The real question is, what do you do with the Sandboxes after you’ve collected all the stars?

The answer is… anything you feel like! Transport King Pig around in a luxo-barge, run a ATV time trial with insane downforce carts, build wacky flying contraptions and ROFLcopters and if you get a few wargaming-type guys together you can even have a battle against the Angry Birds… something like this :-

Sandbox is a whole new game altogether! Have fun with the open ended Pigineering :)

Did someone knows about a reverse engine?
Line up 4 boxes horizontally, put 2 wooden wheels under 2 side boxes, add 2 spring above the 2 boxes mentioned before, line up another 4 boxes on top of the springs, put 2 hot-rod engine in the middle of the top 4 boxes, put a powered wheel anywhere between the engines (make sure it faces downwards), and place the pig in the box (anywhere).
Start the engine and you’ll notice that the vehicle goes BACKWARDS!

By Les Toreadors

Yep! That is the Pigineering reverse gear invented by Andrew Park and documented by the “Society of Automotive Pigineers”, now featured on the Bad Piggies facebook page.

We have a photo gallery of the two prototypes here too:

This can happen in any app. We don’t consider it a bug, as its just a side effect of basic gaming programming.

It is possible to penetrate the ground by skipping the collision detection on the 2D terrain by simply exceeding a certain velocity.

We use that to simulate underground oil drilling or launch pigs or other items through terrain. So while it is a bug or game engine limitation, it can be used for educational or simulation purposes.
