Flingers, prepare those flinging fingers as Rovio has just soft-launched a brand new game called, “Angry Birds Under Pigstruction”. This brand new game is only available in the Canadian iTunes App Store (direct link).
The Angry Birds are back! Join your favorite feathered heroes on an all-new adventure as they storm Piggy Island to rescue their poor eggs (again)! But this time is different – the island is under pigstruction and the pigs are building super challenging multi-stage levels that require new ways of logic, skill and force to win.
Things We Know Now
- Birds can level up! See the forum topic here.
- The Arena is unlocked after level 50. We put together a first look below and there is a great forum topic started by @sal9.
- You receive a certain number of hearts that replenish over time. If you beat a level or restart before flinging a bird you DO NOT lose a heart.
- Your bird line-up is determined randomly and the birds appear on “Cards”. You receive a certain number of cards to start each level, and more can be obtained by earning a certain number of points. If you exhaust all your cards you basically run out of birds. Occasionally, you’re able to watch a video ad to earn another card.
- Most levels change when restarting. They’re usually similar, but the configuration can significantly impact your ability to 3 star or simply beat a level. There’s a forum topic about this here.

We’ve downloaded Under Pigstruction, but since we haven’t had a chance to play much yet we’ve included a bunch of info from iTunes below. We’ll be working on a first look straight away.
Chose Your Bird
It’s the ultimate slingshot strategy – you get to choose which bird to fling next! “But that makes it easier” “WRONG!” You’ll need to master new spells and strategies if you’re going to stop those eggs getting scrambled. And with the new Destruct-O-Meter, the more blocks you destroy, the more extra throws you get!
Multi Stage Levels
You’ve never seen Piggy Island like this – jaw-droppingly stunning levels brimming with exotic plants, quirky details and plenty of peril. And because those naughty porkies are building their pigstructions right under your beak, many levels have multiple stages. Uh oh.
Spectacular Spells
Use blizzards, chilis, magic ducks and other outrageous spells to inflate the pigs for easier popping or to freeze their forts. And when you need some serious help, guess who’s at hand to make a pork-smashing cameo? That’s right, it’s the sardine loving Mighty Eagle. Oh yeah!
Challenge Other Players
Challenge players from across the world in the new leaderboards to see who’s the most hardcore bird flinger of them all.. Play new tournaments every day and earn more feathers to level up your birds to face the toughest competition on the planet. Seriously, it’s gonna be mega tough.
Defeat Boss Piggies
There’s some serious bad guys on Piggy Island, and your slingshot skills are needed to take them down. Foreman Pig, Chef Pig and – of course – the infamous King Pig make this the toughest challenge the birds have seen so far. Have you got what it takes to get the precious eggs back from these baddies?
It’s also important to note that Angry Birds Under Pigstruction is optimized for iPhone 5, iPad 3, iPad mini and iPod Touch 5G or newer. You can try it on older devices, but we can’t guarantee a smooth bird flinging experience!

Awesome! I can’t wait it to be released on Android. I live in Canada, so I would be able to download it on iOS via the App Store. I’m kind of questionning Rovio’s softlaunch practices in the fact that Canada is used frequently for soft-launches. I feel like, why not U.S.A. instead? Considering there are more people to try it and report bugs.
@freckledpig147 Soft-launches always happen on smaller markets such as Canada, New Zealand or Australia. There are many aspects to those games that involve servers, which are the back bones of every game. It’s not about user reported “bugs” only. Test small, then expand capacity with worldwide release.

Also interesting the scores don’t end in 0 anymore. That would make the leaderboards fun, getting clobbered by one point! :)
Has anybody noticed the bird on the last pic? What’s his/her name? What’s their power (must be a drill-like ability due to the similar shape of Poppy)? Why is that bird in the game? Why am I asking so many questions?- such a inquisitive person I am!
She is called Silver. Her power is looping around and crashing down (like Poppy). I don’t know WHY Rovio decided to add her but not Hal, Stella or Bubbles.
I hate leaderboards, I hate facebook connection, I hate playing with/against friends/other players, I hate in-app purchase. 4 reasons why I won’t install this game and why I will never play sny new Rovio games any more. Rovio has lost me as customer.
IAPs are part of all free games. :S Every Rovio game I can name has at least one IAP. ABStP (Angry BIrds Stella Pop)is known for having no other way of earning coins. Too bad most of the IAPs nowadays are for coins and gems.
But I do have to admit that there were so many more IAPs than at the beginning. First of all, the first and only IAP was the Mighty Eagle. Now with character swaps, power-ups, and currencies such as random coins and gems, Rovio is making a hell of money with all these “buy me!” prompts. Sigh… such is the curse of F2Ps.
It looks amazing, i just miss the birds standing in a row waiting to be launched and i don’t really like the in-app purchase and facebook stuff… :/

I’m a big fan of french, I download the game on the Canadian store. following a beug (my lives not charging) I deleted and reinstale game. I still have the beug with my progress.

@tailsthedigger I’m with you, i like(d) angry birds because of the classic looks and normal level designs. I dont like this comic styled levels at all, but yeah its another angry birds game so im gonna try it :P
The ads were also a big change. Beginning = no ads at all, then some ads that blocked your vision and you had to X, now FINALLY these ads that are videos and take time. They are worst on AB Toons in Epic for the fact that you are FORCED to watch them when you load up a clip, and you can’t skip it after 5 seconds. If you hit the reload button by accident at the end, you can’t skip it until the end. Also, these ads use up more data than the games, as well as time and battery power, but I can’t blame Rovio for trying to earn more revenue. 21st-century capitalism is not a crime unless it is specifically cited as one, but advertisments in free apps don’t count as one of them. There is already an ad-block IAP in ABO, why not put it in games like ABE? And yes, Airplane Mode will block the ads, but it’s not an option for games that require internet connection, like Epic. (Well only video bonuses (the only ads that are worth it), PvP and events would require them…)

If you get it in 2 birds, you get a “Birdie”. Their is also a “Headpop!” thing that I think it’s, well, head-popping.

Silver is female. I don’t know about the earthquake part, but it seems that Silver is good on stone, especially after using her power.
“Under Pigstruction” sounds like a codename being used for the soft launch. Once we get to the official launch I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed it to “Angry Birds 2” because that’s practically what the game feels like based ont the first look – a ‘direct sequel’ to ABO.
And I was hoping for a 3D-type game, like the Jenga section in AB Go!

Ham Dunk 1-12 (Istanbul) Mighty Basketball virtually impossible.

It is hard for me to become excited about a new game, knowing they have a history of releasing buggy levels. There is no fun in playing a game that cannot be won.
@daboid i’m ok with you for ham dunk multi bounce glitch. For the other (mighty 1.12 and 4.2) it’s possible, but very hard…(especially 1.12).

I’ve got mixed feelings about this game, honestly.
First, I think the gameplay mechanics are neat as a whole; when compared to the earlier slingshot games, however, it almost feels like they’re trying too hard to upgrade them. I don’t know how to feel about the hearts or gems right now, as I’ve only seen BirdLeader’s video and am trying to stay away from more detailed videos until the game is actually released.
Then the graphics look…interesting, to say the least. I like the more detailed Toons style graphics, but I think the thick black outline around everything kind of makes it look odd.
All in all, I’m unsure how I feel about this game right now.
well,is it an total online game like ab epic or ab friends? and,is it a light one like ab classic,rio and space or heavy like ab epic,ab go and ab transformers? and how big is it? can’t wait for it to be released on android!
@technoguru – Game plays normally in Airplane mode, so connection not required.
Footprint on my iPhone is 251.2 MB which is about halfway between ABO and AB Seasons.

I just noticed something. There are seven spots in the Flock menu, which means there is only room for seven birds. Three for Red, Chuck, and the Blues, another two for Bomb and Matilda, and one for Silver, which means there is only room for one more bird. Presumably, it’s for Terence, which means that Hal and Bubbles will not be in this game.
Dangit Rovio, overlooking Hal yet again.
I know right?! Hal seems like a likable character, but his only appearances are in original, seasons, rio, go, and transformers! But his ability is not as awesome as the other birds, which may explain why Rovio regrets creating him…

By the way, does anyone know what a gift box you obtain from levels contain? Do they respawn randomly? (like in ABGo?) Will they be available to give to others if you enabled Facebook, since you can’t give them to yourself? Also, what are the costs for spells, judging that there seems to be no other way of earning them (in ABStP there are unearnable birds coins and power-ups that can only be replenished with real $$$ and bird coins, respectively.)?
I have some remarks on this game.
1. This is the first casual game that makes me want to play a casual game to kill the waiting times.
2. The replay for a level sucks. If you don’t want to loose a heart, you have to finish the level, even when you know after the first bird that you want to replay. Then you have to wait for loading of the map and the next level. Only then you can cancel the next level, return to the map and select the previous level again. After loading again, you can finally take a new shot at it. It’s so tedious!
3. I don’t understand the lives system. When I started the game for the first time, I got 10 lives. After losing one, a timer started to count down and when it reached zero, I got a new life. When losing a few lives in succesion, the next day they where all reloaded. So far it’s pretty logical. But after a few days, I suddenly had only 5 lives left, while the day before I still had 10 and I didn’t play the game in that time. That’s stupid. And the reloading timer also has disappeared, so no automatic new lives. That sucks.
It looks like the game will be more fun after the arena is unlocked, but I seriously doubt that it will be long enough on my phone to see that happen.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the animations for the boss levels might look funny when you see them for the first time, but quickly become annoying when you have to retry a level over and over again to 3-star it.

Playing catch up in the Nest. Watched both of BL’s video and the game looks awesome. Went to the App Store and they do not seem to have it loaded yet for the US market. The 270+ levels is great. It should keep one busy for a couple of months. Looking forward to the game. Also, I agree that the graphics look new, different and very nice.
Under pigstruction looks like the best angry birds so far. But I have a problem, I have angry birds, seasons, space, friends, star wars I&II, transformers, Go and bad piggies. I love angry birds but I own a NOOK and stella is not compatible and I’m afraid Under Pigstruction will not be compatable either. Is there any chance that stella and pigstrucion (when released) can be updated to be compatible with the NOOK? I can’t afford a new tablet (ie Ipad) just to play a ‘game’. Thank you.

I just installed the game on my iPad Mini 2 (just bought it this past Saturday)….and I love it.
I haven’t touched Angry Birds Stella….can’t decide if I want to install that one and try it out lol
How do you install it? I’m in USA and it says to go to the Canada store but when I do it doesn’t let me download anything. Help
