Yes folks, as we suspected, Angry Birds Star Wars v1.3.0 has been released and there are lots of great galaxy-saving adventures in your future! The update has landed for iOS, PC, Mac, and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, with more platforms coming in the near future.
Attention Amazon users: Be sure to download v1.3.1, which resolves the crashing issue from the initial release.
Attention PC users: v1.2.0 has landed for PC today, which includes the first 20 levels of Cloud City and Boba Fett’s Missions. All inquires should be directed to the v1.2.0 release post, which includes plenty more information.
Update for PC users: v1.3.0 landed on 14 August. We created a separate post to announce the release, but this post likely contains far more information in terms of general advice.
This update includes:
- 20 levels in the epic finale of Cloud City! Walkthroughs are ready and can be access through the Cloud City page.
- 2 Bonus levels: The 10th star level unlocks at 640 stars, and it is the ninth droid that you are looking for. Our Droid and Bonus Levels Guide is there if you need help.
- Lando Calrissian appears with the unique ability to fire not one, not two, but three laser blasters at once!
- Power Ups with in-game score distinction! We have more about this below, but in-game score distinction is certainly great! Reminder: No Power Up scores on our AB:SW leaderboard, please!
- 4 new achievements for iOS. We’ve updated that page, so who’s your daddy now? ;)
- 5 SW characters to unlock! As an added bonus, you now need to grant AB:SW permission to use Twitter from the Characters page.
- Toons fan? Check out “Boba’s Delivery”, now available in AB:Toons!
Power Ups
Power Ups have made their move from the Facebook version of Star Wars to the mobile app, but they came with a new in-game score distinction. In other apps with this distinction (e.g., Space and Seasons), you can only view your best PU score by using a PU again. With Star Wars, however, both scores are displayed simultaneously! This is a very cool system.
The Power Ups added to AB:SW are the same as appear in the Facebook version:
- Clone Bird: Add one more bird to any level! The cloned bird matches the bird already loaded in the slingshot, I believe.
- Thermal Detonator: Melt the Empire’s defenses with the Thermal Detonator, a small explosive that will stick to the first structure your bird touches.
- Blaster Droid: Attach a blaster bolt shooting droid to your bird’s head!
- Lightsaber Sling: Energize the slingshot to increase birds’ speed.
Now for prices:
- Clone Bird
- 10 individual: $1.99
- 20 (+10) individual: $4.99

Ok,PU’s had to happen but kudos to Rovio for having two scores on the board….very cool :) This will make life easier proving questionable high scoring. Would have liked to have had the option to turn them off but heyho,I’m happy!…….WOW! “Happy & PU” in the same sentence…..who would have thought?;)
So Lando is Han, but not as accurate with the blaster? Three shots in the vicinity rather than three on target… Gonna take some getting used to!
“So Lando is Han, but not as accurate with the blaster?”
Are you talking about the movie character or the game? ;)
http://instantrimshot.com/
They are accurate and spread at an even degree every time. Think of it as an advanced form of shotgun!
This is a really righteous and very cool update. Rovio isn’t trying to do any in-app sales of additional levels that I’ve found & it makes for an almost nostalgic experience in regards to the Angry Birds culture! Great Job!
Yeah… I really thanks too… :)
I had the feeling that this update would be out soon. And somehow, I just knew that the power-ups would creep their way in.
What an unexpected, yet pleasant surprise! New levels will make for a nice pre-birthday present.
With regard to the new Lando bird, is any one struck by the resemblance to Billy Dee Williams?
Yeah! I love the facial expression Lando pulls after you launch him.
Then there’s the Lando bird’s chatter, which reminds me of old movies like “Shaft.”
I Love all those noises and that face! So Funny…
His pain noises sound less like “Oof!” and more like “Woo!”!
It’s taking ten years to update on my phone. Cue Jeopardy theme song. :/
It might SAY it’s taking a while but might not be. Open the game and look, as this worked for ABR for me.
I like this kind of PU distinction. Should be incorporated into all the games. I don’t even see the distinction (in-game) for Seasons.
If you activate a power up (in Seasons or Space), the Highscore will switch to your PU score.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was referring to how on the chapter selection screen for Space, it shows PU and normal scores (at least for Android) but not on Seasons.
Hey Slim, why did you delete my comment?
Not relevant here @chriss. There’s a discussion in the forum that is more on-point.
Ah okay. No prob. Will read it then.
Does the tiny lightning symbol appear on every level that you use a power up in like it does in Space?
A great update. Thursday just got so much better. And kudos for getting the walkthroughs posted so quickly. I won’t use them yet, but it is good to know they are there. Thank you!
@AMSlimfordy — other admins. Kudos on the fast walktrhoughs. They usually aren’t up when I finish my first run-through (at ~9am PDT).
Some of these levels are really hard; seems like they all require a 1-birder. The boss fight is next to impossible. (Yes, I know some people have 3*).
Credit due to @sal9 for blasting through the vids at warp speed!
@all — Please report any self destruction or unstable levels in the forum:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/873/please-add-to-list-of-self-destroying-and-unstable-levels
I haven’t seen any self-destruction or unstable levels, yet, but there usually are some.
Finished with Cloudy City. 3 stars in all levels. Tomorrow i will continue with falconing. :-)
I know there are not many Nook users here, but Cloud City (in any form) is still not available for the Nook. Still listed as “Coming Soon”
(btw, my main platform is my android phone, my wife plays on the nook)
Well good thing mine is jailbroken ;D
Is anyone else’s app crashing when clicking on the cloud city world? All the other worlds open fine but cloud city makes the whole app crash without even opening it! I know this isn’t rovios site just curious if anyone else has the same issue and or suggestions thanks.
We haven’t had any reports. What device? Have you tried restarting?
Galxy nexus phone and yeah restarted 3 times.
Have you tried moving the app between phone and SD memory?
It updated on my Kindle Fire HD and the same thing happens to me. I can play every planet except cloud city. When I click on cloud city it kicks me out of the game. I hope it is fixed soon. I want to finish the planet.
It updated on my Kindle also without “permission”. It also kicks me out and back to my main screen. Tried rebooting but that didn’t work. Will take @amslimfordy advice and notify Rovio. Hopefully it will have a bug fix soon.
So glad to hear this wasn’t just me!
My Kindle just installed an update again. I looked at it and it reverted back to 1.2.
Weird… :\
I just downloaded 1.3.0 and everything seems fine from what I can tell. Hooray!
Lando Calrissian appears with the unique ability to fire not one, not two, but three laser blasters at once!
nicely said:)
i cannot update the game on my android tablet. it says its not compatible. its impossible because i downloaded it before and its still working fine.
anypony have similar problem?
real exciting to get updates landing one after another for PC!
Rovio has lately made me elated having updating ABS and ABSW, which I like playing much more than the other games in the series.
The New Archievement “Who’s your daddy now” was really hard work for me personally!
Sorry to say it, but that was the first new acheivement I got.
Yes maybe it was easy for you :-)
Update worked fine yesterday, but won’t even open today. Says “Sorry! The application Angry Birds (process com.rovio.angrybirdsstarwars.ads.iap) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close.”
If the ad server is to blame for Cloud City crashing the game for Android users, then perhaps trying to run the game in Airplane mode would be a temporary solution until Rovio puts out a fix.
“Force” Close, huh?
Updated for Amazon Appstore but whenever I tap on cloud city the game freezes and takes me back to the home screen!!
Same problem :/ amazon app store!
We’ve added this advisory to the main post. Thanks for the report.
Played a few levels and the 3 lasers of Lando Bird are great. What was really enjoyable about this update, so far, was the use of the exhaust fans for LB/lasers with the combination of the ricochet effects for the lasers, debris and fans. This was fun and do need more hours in the day to progress.
love how the leaderboard is made in Game Center. Even better than Space. PU’s scores are shown under regular scores
My Boba Fett Mission scores are not shown in Game Center.
@chriss that should have been fixed in this update. Try logging out/in to GameCenter manually and/or restarting your device.
I have resterted and I have replayed a Boba Fett Mission level, but it keeps saying “no rank”.
CC update for android, actualised by Play Shop, also makes some crashes by stoping a game and a phone (sony experia arc s). It’s happened from time to time during more complicated levels. I could report precisly – on demand next time.
Once I can’t answer a phone. I hear a ring but no move was possible. Fon unlock screen was unobtainable, missed call – not shown at list. Only reset a phone helps.
CC new episodes are superb. I finished all off them with fast manner at 12 hours (all 3* of course) with 2 bonus to. Now I’m replaying it.
Just an FYI for Android users as it took me ages to notice. The new Angry Birds Star Wars update has raised the minimum requirements of the Android version from 2.2 (Froyo) to 2.3 (Gingerbread)
Off topic: Facebook post: ”BEAKING NEWS: Red Bird will have a special power soon.”
Not only an power, but an whole new episode for ABO!
It doesn’t look like an Episode @josm but more like a bonus/extra type of area
Well, on the picture you can see its placed after Bad piggies #8 . and you can earn stars, so we get new levels
Weird, I would expect a Space update before that… But happy to have new ABO levels nevertheless! :D
@Josm @Sal9 @TeoGeo
Post will be online soon. For here, I’ll say that I DO think it’s a new episode, but I have a LOT more speculation about it!
For Kindle players, update seems to have been pulled, as Cloud City has reverted to 20 available levels. Hope that means a fix is in the offing.
I expected the last 20 episodes of Cloud City would be more like the return to Tatooine… Meh.
I fully expect that, (the return to Tatooine), to be a whole different chapter. After all, in the final movie chronology, there’s the return to Tatooine, followed by a few scenes on Dagobah, (more PoTJ levels, anyone?), ending with Endor and the Second Death Star.
So, potentially, that’s three more chapters, plus the possibility of additional levels in PoTJ. We’ll just have to see.
I Don’t know if the Return to Tatooine would have enough levels to be a whole new chapter. Maybe Tatooine and either the second half of Dagobah, or Endor would be tied in somehow? Not sure…
You never know, as Rovio always seems able to surprise me. However, I’m sure you recognized my hedging through the use of the word “potentially.”
Of course.
