One of the greatest thrills we get here at AngryBirdsNest — besides random compliments, because those are awesome — is knowing things before the rest of the world. This weekend was no exception, with one of our favorite sleuths prodding his super secret version of Game Center to see two new updates — one for Angry Birds Rio and one for Space — coming soon!
Angry Birds Rio
We start with the update we know less about. Angry Birds Rio has added 1 new achievement in Game Center, for “Clearing all Golden Beachball levels”. This is a little confusing to me, seeing as Golden Beachball levels were released nearly 2 years ago! Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible for PC/Mac users to unlock these levels nowadays, as DVD copies of the animated movie Rio no longer contain the bonus codes needed to unlock the levels. It will be interesting to see what’s actually included in this update.
Angry Birds Space
Now for the big one. Angry Birds Space has added a massive eight achievements! Included among them is a Score Addict of about 2.8 million points, suggesting that this update will be a full 30-level episode. Woot!!!
Also in the achievements is mention of “Space Races”. We aren’t sure what to make about this yet, though it seems like it may be a different gameplay style. We don’t want to jump to conclusions too much right now, but we are a little bit skeptical a priori based on the generally poor reception of Red’s Mighty Feathers last week. No whether this actually is new gameplay or if its a side challenge within existing gameplay remains to be seen, so I think it’s best to avoid casting any unfounded criticisms at this time.
Since these GameCenter changes are only visible in Sandbox Mode at this time, we have no idea when the updates will actually land. It could be a little while yet, though appearing in Sandbox Mode typically means they are finalizing QA testing. Keep your eyes peeled, and let us know how excited you are!!!

What is the Sandbox Mode? (I don´t know if this i something I should know because I don´t have a iOS)

It’s means exactly that. A sandbox to play around in and have fun. (a.k.a Developer Mode)
Where do you find that?
I think you can only have it if you are an app developer yourself.
It’s not something that can be “found”. You must be a developer.
Do you need to be a iOS developer or a Angry birds developer?

My dad is a iOS developer. So where do you find them then?
I’m not sure exactly. Maybe one day we will create our own ABN app, but for now, I only know “what”, not “how”. Sorry. Google may be able to help.
I have never used an code for my golden beach ball levels on my PC, it was just unlocked after buying the game

Nice to see more updates coming our way… maybe we can assume that Rio, if updated for PC.. will include the levels up to 1.6.1. My Google Play version doesn’t contain those extra Beach levels.. only my PC version does…
You should check our post from 2 years ago, Morph (link is in the post). There are instructions on how to unlock those levels.

Ya know.. now that I seen that link, and went back 40 years in my dust closet known as memory.. I remember that info now! I only had PC version back then.. so didn’t really pay attention to it. :D

Space Races sort of sounds like Angry Birds Go?! Some sort of a teaser for new gameplay?
It looks like the achievements on the right picture have all something to do with a race, but what does ‘throw chrystals to the pigs’ mean?
That’s just the name of the achievement. To get it, you apparently have to destroy a hundred “crystal planets” (whatever those are).
I know it was already mentioned in it’s own thread, but there is also an update for Angry Birds Original (to make up for the disaster of Red’s Mighty Feathers IMO).
So that makes 3 upcoming updates!
So maybe Angry Birds Go is not a new game after all? Maybe it’s a new feature to be added in all apps?..
I honestly doubt it…the amount of hype about this, and the fact that it will take us closer to Piggy Island then ever before, makes me doubt it…

Wow, two updates. Life is good, great news.
If new levels can be added to Rio that is outstanding. Playing that game is all about fun. I suspect it may just be four additional levels added to the bottom of the screen like they did in all the previous areas of this game but hopeful for something more.
Maybe the new levels in AB Space will add a new planet after Pig Dipper. Looks like speed will be one factor from the concepts of races and going fast.
What ever it is, additional levels are great news.

Great news !!! So we are going to have 3 new updates in ABO, AB Space and AB Rio, and it seems the Space update will be a race theme.

Hm…….looks very interesting indeed! Personally, I’m more interested in the Space update, more specifically, the theme of the new update for space. Space races is a interesting concept, with AB GO coming soon, bad piggies having road hogs, I would really enjoy seeing racing in zero gravity indeed. :P

It said an achievement about ‘complete a level slower than Incredible terence’. So there is a chance that there might be race with other birds. And space getting an episode? nice :) Space update looks similar to crystal theme. Rio? I don’t know if there is an episode or anything new at all. I’m just interested in space. I just hope update(s) land for all platforms.
@Amslimfordy – You mentioned that it’s almost impossible nowadays to unlock the Golden Beachball. Just wanted to tell that I ordered the DVD not so long ago from a Finnish webstore and got the code too, I can check what webstore it was so maybe if they are taking orders from abroad too, people could use that if they don’t already have that episode unlocked :)
What comes to the Rio update, it would be awesome. Though it’s been some time since Market Mayhem came out for iOS & Android, but still not for PC so would be great to get that first. Maybe they’ll surprise all the PC users and launch Market Mayhem AND the new update at the same time :) I’ve been trying to keep my patience, but it’s getting pretty hard when new updates are coming, but not for PC. Haha, that’s it with the whining part, I’ll gather my patience and keep on flinging :D
Thanks for the info @Lisko. I’m sure that DVDs with the code exist, but they are becoming increasingly rare.
In the webstore they mentioned that the DVD includes the code so it was easy to order. I’m trying to find the store, but I checked several stores where the dvd wasn’t available before I found the one where I ordered it so I’ll keep on searching. I didn’t save the confirmation mail after I got my copy so I really don’t remember what store it was, haha, it looks like I’m getting old xD
I’m noticing a lot of people think that the next episode will be the race-themed one. Personally, I don’t think so. I think there will be TWO new themes in this update – a classic Space planet, as well as a separate, race-themed, one.
And personally, I think that in race-themed levels, you will be competing against the Birds. Each individual Bird may have a set time, and you’ll have to try to beat them. How this may all work out, I don’t know. This is just a guess based on the “Is this thing on” achievement.
I think each bird will have a new racing power– like ice bird with “time freeze” and lazer bird with “speed boost”. Whatever it is, I agree that it will have two new episodes.

Road Hogs like levels (Time Trial levels) in AB Space(?)
As we have seen, they released ‘Red’s Mighty Feathers’ with totally different gameplay. So we can expect new gameplay also in Space.
The second image, shows achievements –
‘Space Champion’ – ‘Win 9 Space Races’
‘Gotta Go Fast’ – ‘Complete a level with fastest time.’
‘Is This thing on’ – ‘Complete a level slower than incredible Terence.’
It means next update will be a new gameplay with Time Trial mode.
Or may be I’m wrong, they can release a racing theme episode, as there is a Score Addict achievement too.
Looks like this will be a double update including levels simalar to road hogs and a crystal planet episode

Yes @amslimfordy , the Rio update is out with 15 new summer levels and Bonus levels to unlock when you find the hidden “Golden Cherries” ;-) Sounds like lots of fun!!!
Actually…I should have said 15 MORE levels added to Golden Beachball! The Golden Cherries are part of the Awards room…like the pineapple, mango, etc…we now have Golden Cherries added! ;-)
They have also added a “progress” screen to each of the episodes!

I thought that we would have the Space update long ago. If they release it now it will be bumping up against SW2 although that wouldn’t bother me a bit. I wonder if they ran into a bug or glitch that they haven’t been able to fix.
Maybe ‘Space Races’ had the same gameplay as ‘Red’s Angry Feathers’ and, after the less than enthusiastic and very vocal response to that changed gameplay, Rovio decided to pull the update out of the release queue and create anther set of the tried and true gameplay. Hence the delay.
Are you aware that Several Card High-Low, the profitable player could be the one that supports often the best or highest card mix.
