As the countdown to the launch of Angry Birds Star Wars II continues, now with only six days to go, Rovio wants to ensure that all Jedis have proper training before delving into the prequel trilogy. We first reported this forthcoming update two months ago via Sandbox mode in GameCenter. Today, Angry Birds Space Cosmic Crystals (v1.6.0) has for iOS, Mac, PC, and Android , with more platforms coming soon.
This update includes:
- 30 new levels in the Cosmic Crystals episode!
- One new Eggsteroid! For now, we will leave its location a mystery, but be sure to keep an eye out and check out our Complete Eggsteroids Guide, which will be updated soon.
- Three new Antenna Egg levels! As expected, there is one for levels 7-1 through 7-10, one for 7-11 through 7-20, and one for 7-21 through 7-30.
- One new Sardine Can level! This is unlocked by obtaining all 30 feathers using the Space Eagle. This walkthrough will take us a bit more time to get to, but please be patient.
- Four new iOS achievements!
- Pro Tip! Gems and jewels are worth 3,000 points!
- Second Tip! Crystal planets can explode, causing massive destruction! See the trailer above for a first look.
- Third Tip! Look for triggers and chain reactions, since they may be key in 3-starring some levels.
It’s significant to note that Space Races, which appeared in our “sleuth” post a couple months ago, seem to have been done away with. Whether this is good or bad, only Rovio can say. Perhaps their original plan was to use Space Races to tease Angry Birds Go, perhaps there was implementation issues on some platforms, who knows. Just noting here that it’s not here. Personally, I’m happy with the classics.

Pretty awesome, 2 major updates in 2 days, but it’s hard to come by, especially with original update and absw 2 to come within the next 6 days! a bit too much at once, I suppose especially for the guys doing the walkthroughs here at the nest :)
Got the update for the Mac…this is one hard episode, even more harder than Pig Dipper.

The breakable crystal planets are great. The levels are challenging & really fun to play. Even Level 1 is difficult to get One-Birder. :)
@AMslimfordy – I believe, “Raft and Anchor Glitch” in Pig Dipper S-15 is FIXED now. Now the Raft immediately fall straight on the planet and get destroyed. I play on PC. I didn’t try it on Android yet.
@iBird I can still reproduce the “beginning” of the glitch, i.e. the raft slowly floating down to the Northeast Planet. It’s something to watch for, though.
It may only work on other platforms, Not on PC ?
Before this update, Yesterday, I’ve played this level whole day, the “beginning” of glitch was consistent. Now it seems impossible.
I’ll try it on Android later.
Great update. I’m lovin’ it.
Again, they are able to freshen up a game with the need to develop new strategies. I may have to wait until tonight to play this though, I have a sore muscle in my forearm from way too many hours of play yesterday with the SW update.
I feel eggsteroid is not easy, need a luck.
I’m not a fan of those egg levels…they seem to be pretty hard for me.

I think compared to the low difficulty of Endor, it is nice to see Rovio can still challenge me here.
Actually, so far they seem easier than Endor to me. Only on 18, and I really, really cannot, must not, spend the whole day on this.
This one is really fun! I love figuring out the strategies, and I also love being able to play on my PC first so I can really see what I am doing!

I see the achievements in Game Center but the leadeboards don’t show the new episode, is this normal?
When will the leaderboard be available? I mean I can go to the leaderboard of this episode, but it won’t let me add scores. Is it a bug or sometrhing else? :)
I think it’s a bit weird that we did get this update for PC at the same time than other platforms, but we didn’t get that SW update that came out yesterday o.O Well, maybe we’ll be getting it later :)
So far I like this Space update, haven’t played much yet though, but looks good :)
@Lisko No bug. Since we were planning on being overloaded, we created the leaderboards a few days ago but disabled score entry. We will enable them in a little bit, once we’re done recording and such. If it was as fast as just flipping one switch, we’d do it now, but it’s not, so we won’t ;)
@AMslimfordy – Haha, okay no problem at all! :D I just wasn’t sure ’cause haven’t seen the leaderboard like that before. No need to hurry with it, I think I’ll survive :D

They did away with the Slash Theme music! :(
No. If you enter Pig Dipper you can still hear the Slash theme
I do not hear it on PC, so this will also only on mobile device.
Wow @Bad-piggies that’s quite a find. I did replicate that behavior on Android.
That’s weird. I just tapped Pig Dipper and it played Slash’s version of the AB Space theme. Why did Rovio decide to do that??
I was wondering the same thing. It seems kinda strange doing it that way, but there must be a reason for it.
Probably Slash likes Pig Dipper and Rovio decided to make Slash’s music the theme for it? I’m certainly GLAD to have the old music back, but I’m not saying I don’t like Slash.
I am not sad about this. I mean, I like Slash. He seems like an ok dude & when I was a kid he was totally awesome. But I just couldn’t deal with the theme music. I’d turn the volume off until I got to the levels.
Yeah, I like him but I liked the old music better. It just sort of fit it more.
If you’re a point chaser, you’re going to have a lot of fun with this update.
Love both new I updates, fun and different. Crystals are challenging but doable. My plan is going through all the levels to open them all and then going back to three star them. As always the nest is the best place for all thing Angry Birds. You guys are awesome.
Any ETA for first 10 walk throughs? Can’t 3 * 7-2 or 7-5 (Blush!)

If you aim to the north of the pig moon you will 3 star level 7-2. When you aim the bird it should barely miss the pig moon. It will “s” around all the moons and break the last one, causing all the stones to go back towards the pig moon and pop the pig. You will 3 star with one bird

7-7 Froze on iPad, probably just before I should have gotten 3*.
I had a freeze too, wasn’t 7-7 though, iPhone 4S. Had a few other hesitations on star tally screen.
It seems like both this update and yesterday’s Star Wars update are rougher on battery life than before.
So excited about the two updates. It’s like Christmas in September!

Crystal planets are worth 2000 points when they explode so it really helps to explode the planets to 3-star certain levels.
Alright everyone, I’m calling it a day. I know there’s plenty of “3-star minimum score” updating to do, both in Cosmic Crystals & Moon of Endor, but that will just have to wait.
If anyone comes across something missed in either update, please ping me here. Otherwise, until tomorrow, happy flinging!
Known “misses”:
• Star Wars Characters Page needs image updated.
• Cosmic Crystals icon not loaded (shows as Pig Bang by default).
• Feathers/Medals, but come on, really???
Wow slim, you get engaged and all of a sudden you no longer have time for us.
Sure would have liked if they would have included in level distinction of power up and non power up scores like in AB Star Wars.
@sparty83 The distinction exists, but they don’t display both scores simultaneously. I have it outlined in the forum.
I know, but just like the way they did it in Star Wars, shows both when playing the level. Not just when you select a power up.
I was hoping that now that they know how to do it, they would implement in all games (expect rio which, if I remember correctly, cant be done)
Whew! Now two days to relax & work on 3 stars before the next update.
Just got a message when loading Space saying “Danger Zone has successfully been restored”. Anyone else seen this?
There’s really no issue with such a message appearing, @andy2510. Something might have gone wrong in your files, causing the game to think that Danger Zone wasn’t purchased. The app has a function that allows you to restore non-consumable IAPs, which is exactly what Danger Zone is.
Thanks for the reply @amslimfordy – I had just backed up the files so something may have gone a bit flaky during the process this time round. Nice to know that the apps have a failsafe mechanism in place for situations like this as well.
Space Races was removed from the game. However, I still did see some things in the data files that seem to point toward this being added in a later update. For one thing, it mentioned a Time Attack and a Weekly Challenge mode.

Yes @rajpreetbgt Rovio regularly refines the graphics with new updates.
HELP! Downloaded update for Space and all data is gone. When I open now its asking for my activation key, which of course I have saved for every version of AB EXCEPT can’t find this one. I have back-up .lua files on desktop but didn’t seem to prevent this disaster. Anyone else having this problem?
@twylatime Don’t worry. If you’ve backed-up your progress. Then restore it. Especially, Settings.lua file, which may restore your activation key.
Thanks for the encouragment, @iBird, so how do I go about the restore? Keep in mind that the Twymeister is old and not real technically saavy!
