Angry Birds Space Beak Impact Level 8-9 Walkthrough

Our strategy for Angry Birds Angry Birds Space Beak Impact level 8-9 is to send the Red bird directly into the lava. The resulting chain reaction should clear all the pigs. The strategy shown yields a score of 63,070.

@abintx, first of all I’d like to say Congrats on your great score; this is a pretty tough level. For the rest of us mere mortals, please share your strategy, not only is your 70510 #1, you’re the only one who’s been able to break 70k.

I wish I could remember if I did something different, but I didn’t realize how good of a score it was until I came here to enter it. I even doubted myself and went back to double-check my score, but that’s what it is. I think it was 100% luck. I played it the same or similar to the video every time (sometimes I hit the middle small boulder instead of the outside one). Wish I had some impressive intelligent strategy to share, but I don’t :(

Just a weird score-affecting note. On iPad, nearly every successful shot makes a wood ball get caught in the planet’s grav field, do a few orbits and break on the mountain right before score tally. On PC, it almost never does that. Unfortunate, since it’s worth a few points.

Rank: Sling God with 26030 points
By SweetP (@sweetp)Score: 65,180

That really is strange @kelani. The wood ball comes from the “arm” of the upper pig’s suit. You’d think that after the lava blows up, it would be propelled into the gravity field on your PC. I’ve played on both my Android tablet and phone and the result is always the same. Too bad the level times out too quickly, because that’s an additional 1K wasted.

@SweetP It is strange, but that’s the joy (sarcasm) of AB on PC. On mine, the ball just can’t stay in the gravity field. It always gets flung out to the Southeast. I got it to spiral on *once*, but 99% of the time, vaya con dios.

As far as PC-cursed levels go, this is minor. #38 has +200k top scores, but the highest PC score is 182k at #37th place. I’ve had near-total destruction and only gotten 188k. (My 193k score was on ipad. I’ve got more testing to do, but unless someone breaks 195k, it’ll be in my next email that Rovio will ignore :P

Another oddity on this level is that the ship with the arm will not go into the gravity field. A boulder pushed it a couple of times toward the planet and it started falling in the field but then some invisible force is making it just float just inside the gravity circle.

@fenikus I’ve had the ship fall a couple times not often.. usually like you said it just dangles along the gravity field.

I saw your whine @Kathy. Are you tired of shooting at the large upper left boulder? Try the two small boulder approach. I’ve seen a lot of potential there. Try shooting at the lower end of the rectangular boulder in the upper left group. Line up with the bottom of the large age spot on the boulder. Try moving up and down a pixel or two on that spot. A small change makes a big difference in the action. I even occasionally get the spaceship. Shoot at slightly reduced power (don’t move those dots). My current score could have been higher if the spaceship had not done a soft landing on the planet. Maybe you can get it to disintegrate upon impact. Good luck.

I agree, there is something strange here. I have witnessed the remains of ship being half inside, half outside the field, and oscillating vertically, i.e. along a perpendicular direction of the gravity field. It is not impossible to have it fall within the field, but the physics at work here is definitely non standard.

A similar thing happens in Beak2 #28 A fluxcap will fall to the planet surface, spin around a bit, and then fly back into space. It’s like there’s some dark matter scaffolding controlling these things.

btw, There is a strategy that will obliterate that little ship. I’ll post it when my brain works I get a free moment.

Ref: @Ollygod‘s statement “you still need to get lucky to get a big score”. Not so. I scored three 72k’s, two 75k’s and a 76k in the span of about thirty flings. You just need to find the sweet spot and the correct speed. I hesitate telling everybody the speed setting required because @Kelani will make fun of me. ha ha But for the rest of you flingers, shoot at reduced full power(*1).

*1. Reduced Full Power definition: Pull the sling back all the way and then lessen the pull until just before the dots on the targeting line start to move closer together/compress. If they start getting closer together, that’s what I call the medium power range.

I’d say “Good Luck” flingers, but you don’t need it. It’s a skill shot.

Top score proof:

https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/sglouk/album/picture/23280/

This level is very subtle, because the outcome of your shot, whichever your strat is, depend crucially on where the two barely moving pig “ships” (the upper and the rightmost ones) are, which in turn depends on not only where, but also *when* you shoot Red after reset. Finding the right timing + aiming combination is very difficult. For my top score, I reinvented @romo‘s strat, by shooting at lower lava+rock cluster, so that you barely touch it from below. If Red drifts almost exacly vertically down after impact, then you are on the right track. Cluster slowly rotates and gently hits lower pig “ship” (whatever it is), which makes it explodes. Subsequent outcome then depends on many, many factor and is highly chaotic wrt aiming and timing combination. When stars align, not only first cluster ignites second one, but some fiery debris bounce back to the right and obliterate upper pig. When stars align even better, one debris also obliterate middle pig. A less favourable situation (within the 72k-75k range) is when a fiery debris damages enough middle pig “ship” and gently pushes within gravitational field. That one is more repeatable once you have carefully found a good timing+aiming configuration, the best of which is probably one of the hardest one of the whole game.
