Angry Birds Short Fuse Level 28-1 Walkthrough

One strategy for Angry Birds Short Fuse level 28-1 is to fling one Shockwave Black bird into the left stone tower and another into the base of the right. Along the way, the canisters should clear out the middle pillar. The score in the video below is 167,060.

If you have a different strategy feel free to leave a comment below; however, don't just post your score via the comments, as that's what the leaderboards are for.

Also, a screenshot for each new level, three stars each. Plenty of room for improvment though, I suspect :)

2-Bird Strategy: 1st bird on high arc through the slanted stone into the gap to the left of the pig in glasses. The resulting chain of destruction can produce a 1-birder. 2nd bird into the nearby debris pile of stones to kill remaining pig or to raise score.

It doesn’t seem to help to save any unused birds. Rapidy launch any unused birds into the largest pile of debris remaining. You are almost guaranteed to sore more than the 10k bonus.

It now happened three times, that the third bird got counted already while the second one still destroyed something.
It’s confusing, because you see the score and thinks there will be another 10000 for the unused bird, but it already counted.

191340 on Android phone … Just a few observations … Sending the 1st shot to right tower often causes the middle “rocket” to be launched left loosening up the left side before releasing 2nd shock wave bird. Launching the 3rd shock wave bird often results in more than the 10k for an in launched bonus bird.

I have to agree with you @justpast40 in that using the third bird can be well worth more than 10K ;-)
I played this level basically the same. Here’s a few tips that may help.

I sent first BB in a high arch to the right side so that he breaks through the bottom horizontal cement plank and explodes within the space where the little pig and notebook are. This is close enough to get the right stuff activated but also left enough to do some damage to the very bottom wooden triangle and cement area.

Meanwhile when he explodes, the middle canister thing goes left where it hits the fishing pole thing, slowing it down so that it can fly into the left structure and take a LOT of the top off for a first bird score of 146140! Here’s a screenshot:

http://angrybir.de/1gbiYbV

Then I sent second BB to just below the horizontal plank of the left structure…but this will depend on how the left structure looks after the first bird. I quickly threw in the third (before it times out)… to wherever the most debris remains. If you get most of the left structure with the first and second birds…it’s still worth throwing in the third because there’s a lot of points in the very bottom of the level where the wooden triangles and cement are.
I think that’s where my extra points came from.

Also here’s a screenshot I got from a one birdie for 192970:
http://angrybir.de/1caXW1d

Unfortunately the level timed out immediately after the dust settled and there was no time for me to throw in a second bird. I probably could of got a 102K score!

Then I threw in the second bird to the horizontal stone plank but this time…before he was even finished blowing stuff up…I sent in the third one right behind him and…Viola!!! 102660 :-) Cheers!

Thanks @lesleyg, & @vuelva for the extra detail. Great destruction of the top of the left structure from the 1st shot so I threw the 2nd straight ahead instead of a high lob.
The 3rd shot I had some trouble getting 10k+ sometimes. I found that landing it where the cart was to begin with, left of the rocket got me the best results for destroying what was left of the wooden triangles & stone – I think that’s the launch platform that vuelva describes. Even better if it breaks through the stone plank on the ground before activating.
Had several 1-birders but most were low-scoring; the best was 197k.

used that in 1, 2, and 3-birds version scoring 200k+ with each, with my current best of 203k being with 3 birds.
some details on the 3-bird strategy i have been using:
1st) to right tower. intended goals: destroy right structure. clear right side of ‘launch-platform’. make ‘rocket’ fly left and take off the top part of the left structure (if less is achieved i restart; if more is achieved a high-scoring 1-or 2-bird solution may be available);
2nd) steep high arc, through (possibly first the horizontal stone slab and next the) horizontal part of pipe, activate manually. intended goal: destroy left structure.
3rd) quickly, straight, low, through remaining debris of left structure, toward the left side of the ‘launch platform’, activate manually. intended goal: destroy the remainders of the ‘launch platform’ and any debris to its right by letting the small stones ride on the shock wave, pushing everything to the right and into destruction upon smashing into the right side. (btw the combination of the shockwave with the small stones is also effective in other levels).

you have to act quickly with the 2nd and 3rd (and activate manually) to keep things on the move, in order for the level to not shut you out (as already remarked in other comments).

more often than not you get a 195k+ score with this, but i think there’s not much more in it than 105-107k (as mentioned by ernor63). i guess you can get higher scores if you manage to get a good 2nd in in the 1-bird solution (shown in steviep147’s comment), but that’s rare in my experience (only once got a 180k score after the 1st, but the level already had timed out before i could get a 2nd in).

@Mlvn2
I mainly use ABN to benchmark my scores and use the leaderboards to sort out levels I need to work more and harder on. I normally don’t post on the walkthrough pages and there are three main reasons why I don’t.
First and main reason (especially when levels are fresh) is that I want to really learn the levels properly and understand the mechanics involved and best way for me is to not be influenced by others. I believe the best way to be a good flinger is to understand and control the details involved. If you follow others strats you miss a lot of details in my view.
I do eventually share with a few of my friends that have the same view of how to share and we do this on a small private forum that we cohosts. This is the 2nd reason and on ABN to many posts makes no sense at all when it comes to describing details. We have developed a way to describe and support each other that you don’t see here and that give me so much more feed-back and further develops my shots and skills.
But I did report the major glitch on SF 28-13 so I shouldn’t be the same fuss as on WtH 1-23. The debate there was so odd, @DonnMega posted it the same day he discovered it but we all got so much criticism for it so I have no feel to share that much anymore on this forum.
I will post here when I FEEL for it like I did with the repeatable self-collapse. But most of my strats and findings I’ll only share among my closest flinging buddies.
On this level I did 201K by lobbing 1st into the cavity of the rear stone tower where the small bearded pig is. I let black self-detonate. Often the rocket takes out most of front tower. 2nd if possible through a small cubic stone into the center of the remains of the front. A problem with this level is that it ends too early. If I could send a 3rd into debris it most times gives more than 10K This time level ended too soon for me.+205K or more is doable with 3 good shots.
SF 28-1 1st
SF 28-1 2nd

@ernor63, sorry for this being somewhat a public message, otherwise I would have sent this private. I understand you completely as far as strategies go. I generally play all levels on my own until I have three stars in all, which generally is not that difficult. After playing for a few years, you sort of see where you need to go to score high. Then I replay them to see where I can improve. Finally I come here to compare my scores and see if there are big gaps where maybe I missed something. Due to my job, I don’t really have time to always update my scores here, or to participate in the social aspect of the board. I do share strategies however when I can, and know I’m generally a top 10 player here once I enter all my scores.
I figured in the past that you and flingers like @DonnMega were discussing strategies together in the past, outside of this board, as we all have been around here for a long time, and you can notice how people interact. I just did not know the specifics, and did not want to impose and/or try to invite myself. There are levels sometimes though where I would like to know how you repeatedly can get a certain outcome, such as 27-11, where your comments seem to indicate you have multiple times achieved to get the two blue bottles to hit all to most of the 6 pigs. Would be nice if we could use private messages in instances like that.

Ernor –I had no idea you felt that way about ABN. I just assumed you might not realize you were still at the top.
