The best bet to 3 star Year of the Dragon level 1-3 is to aim the Red bird right at the first pig. The goal is to pop the pig and while sending the firework into the lower part of the first structure, taking it down. You can then use the Black bird and Big Brother to finish things off. The score in the video below is 96,090.

110280… Three birds.
Bird1… Little Red: pull sling back hard and shoot the bird at the left wooden triangle on the roof of the first structure. Your goal here is to get some of the roof and or the bird to fall to the right, damaging the much larger rightmost structure. Note sometimes you will completely destroy the left tower, this is workable but for this strat you need all the stone blocks from the left tower.
Bird 2… Black Bomb: aim straight at first structure on the left. Your goal, get all the stone blocks to fly up and rightward… Detonate manually if you have to… Just keep the rightward momentum going and the whole right structure should fall into the pit, the same pit some of the stone cleared. You should have the upper right one or two pigs remaining. But sometimes they get taken out too, but usually at the expense of lower points or more debris in the pit. Your goal here is to clear the pit, let the rightmost structure fall into the pit, and have very little debris left. Otherwise reset.
Bird 3… Big Red: shoot to far side to destroy any remaining pigs and maybe get some extra points by falling to the righ or left… This shot depends on your particular board… Just make sure to get the pigs and as much collateral as possible.
First bird different but the key is in the 2nd bird, thanks for the tip Loox!

Up to 113140 with the same strategy (natureswrath’s version). I do wonder if it’s actually possible to get the fish on the far right using this set of shots, because Big Brother’s momentum is really broken by that small stone block. I’m not really convinced that a firework can actually hit the red wood piece or the fish itself, either. Has anyone observed this?

Here is my slight tweak to it and a little info that I got along the way;
Bird 1: flat shot straight into the firework and far left pig. This is a bit of a throw away shot but it doesn’t really matter what happens here, as long as you have a clear shot to the two horizontal thick stone blocks of the first (left) tower.
Bird 2: flat shot on almost the exact same trajectory as the first shot. You want the BB to strike as low as possible (but still with significant momentum, so not rolling) on the lowest of the two horizontal thick stone blocks that make up the left leg of the left tower. Activate the BB almost as soon as you strike the aforementioned block. This will topple the wood in the ditch that is holding up the two fish but should also give the same lift to the stone blocks as described above by loox to topple the right tower into the lower ditch. In essence I found that I could combine the first and second shots from loox’s strat into the BB with good reproducibility. At this point you should be somewhere close to 90K points if you are looking for a HS, a lot of the time I had around 80K but you really need most of the debris destroyed for a very high score.
Bird 3: high arc to take out the last 1-2 pigs up on the top right that will be left after the right tower collapses. I missed out on the right-hand fish but still ended up with 114.5K. You can get this fish with a lucky firework explosion or with a lucky block toppling off the edge that the fish is hanging off (the fish swings side to side after you start to smash stuff).
Thanks natureswrath and loox. These tips helped me add 10k to my score. One thing I noticed, using loox’s method of hitting the left tower near the top, is that that overhanging part of the tower will sometimes jump around, and then will sometimes open up the ditch in the center. It made the second shot easier. Of course I flubbed the big red bird and didn’t get the far right pig! Thanks again for these tips.

I had been stuck on 105K and been playing for HOURS without getting anything better. I read natureswrath’s guidance and BOOM! After about 20 mins of more play got to 108K, then 110K, then entered my score of 114990 and was pleasantly surprised to see Top Score! WOW! Thanks to natureswrath for the guidance. This score is thanks to you.
One other tip: I had been playing this level zoomed all they way out so I could see the entire board. By zooming all the way in it allowed me to make more accurate and consistent flings.
Finally, this score put me in the top 25 (21 for now) for “Year of the Dragon” on the iPad. If you are on iPad – check it out!
That said, I had 86K after the second bird. After the third bird the final right-most fish dropped, but did not break so clearly more points are possible. I’ll enjoy the top spot for this level briefly I am certain.

They are there for all the textual walkthrouhs I have done. That’s everything released since April 2011, except for YotD obviously (haven’t had a chance yet).

I went back to this level and I found shooting the first red bird onto the red plank of the right structure, weakening it for the second bird. Because the red plank is softend a bit, the bom bird has more chance of making the whole structure tumble down. I got 112100 at my revisit.
