The best strategy for Mooncake Festival level 1-9 is to launch Big Brother head-on into the hollow stone square in the top-left of the level. The results of this impact vary, but in general it is quite destructive. Either with a similar trajectory or with a lob shot, land the Black bird on the stone slabs in the middle of the structure. If necessary, repeat the second shot with Big Brother to pop the remaining pig in the middle. The score in the video below is 99,290.

I think the secret to higher scores is the fact that you can get the bomb bird down the left side of where the TNT block is. It breaks through the two perpendicular angled cement blocks and falls to the bottom taking everything but the upper left with it. I have had a lot of trouble repeating it though.

111,180 W/3 Birds (It’s kinda hard to explain this, but I’ll try my best.)
Bird 1(Big Brother): Hit the lower end of the hollow concrete square to destroy most of the left side of the board. The Bird should bounce back to drop the blocks on the far left. I had about 50k after this bird. This shot requires a lot of luck, but is certainly repeatable.
This is how the screen should look after the first bird.
Bird 2(Black Bird): Shoot this bird at the rectangular concrete block and try to open up a path for the next bird.
Bird 3(Big Brother): Shoot this bird into the area with concrete blocks where the TNT is located. Some blocks should detonate the TNT and most of them will be destroyed by it. Other concrete blocks will fall into the gap for extra points.
This method is pretty much similar to the video above, except that the blocks on the far left were dropped for around 7.5k-10k. These points make a huge difference when going for a good score.I didn’t break the bunny on the far right, so more points are possible. This method is pretty difficult to repeat, but it IS possible. I have repeated it for about 108k. Good luck trying to pass my score. :)

On level 1-9 in the moon festival if I use mighty eagle the golden moon cake shows up in the bottom left corner if the screen but I’m unable to repeat this with the three birds in that level. Does anyone know how to get it?

@mvnla2, I don’t really think there are a lot of options on this level. The shots in the walkthrough are the basic shots needed, I think, to even complete the level. Obviously, there are a few nuances that can help with higher scores, but I think this level also requires a high degree of luck in getting enough debris.
Kidguy’s tips are good, I think. Hitting the square block on the corner results in the best damage, and gives the possibility that Terence will take out the debris in front (though rarely, it seems). On the second shot, i have found that a high arching shot works best for me, but that is probably just personal preference. Third shot needs to be as low as possible to avoid hitting the wooden roof.
Finally, I’ve noticed that I have better results if I am able to destroy most/all of the wood pieces that might be in the path of my third shot, as you know, Terence doesn’t do well with wood.
Obviously, I don’t have a spectacular score here (104K as of this writing), but I’ll invest a little time today.
Thanks for tips @doctonynyc…I have only managed to improve to 99260 twice actually which is an oddity in itself since it seems unlikely to get the same score twice on this level. Your tip of keeping third shot low and missing the rook helped me to improve 4K points. btw..I would be happy with your 104K= score at this point, lol..This level is ridonkulous!!! It’s very frustrating to say the least with the low score outcomes when it seems I’ve cleared ALOT of debris!!!
Glad I could help, @lesleyg. One thing that can make a difference is getting rabbit (is that what that thing is?), but it’s tricky to get it with debris from the first shot (maybe the second?). That’s 3000 points right there.
I agree with you that this on this level, in particular, the visible damage doesn’t match what you might expect for a score.
Not my favorite level by a long shot!
@DocTonyNYC — Thanks for the tips. I am having a really hard time with this level, and no matter how many tips I try to follow, just don’t seem to be getting it. So I keep hoping for a “magic” tip, which doesn’t seem to exist. : ( Did your score improve since you wrote this. I would be totally happy with 107, hey, even 100 at this point. If someone else were whining like this their score would improve the next try. Doesn’t seem to work for me.
It’s all about the debris isn’t it. I’m starting at 104, & can’t for the life of me get close to that now. Even detonating the TNT is hard to do & I haven’t managed much destruction from it. Done this level with 2 birds without enough to get 3*. Tried to detonate TNT with 2nd shot to open up the bottom for debris to fall into,but it’s tough. Guess I’ll keep flinging with fingers crossed.
I agree, @karen68, this is a frustrating level. Getting the TNT is very tough. Were you ever able to successfully get the TNT in two shots? I have a few times, but still can’t manage enough debris (even after flinging a quick third shot after pigs were popped in two).
@doctonynyc I did occasionally get TNT in 2 shots but it never seemed to do much. I experimented with lobbing the 1st bird over to try & take out the 2nd stucture to clear a path for the bomb to hit TNT, it worked a few times but still the TNT did very lttle. I was thinking that blowing the TNT would destabilize the 1st structure & perhaps even collapse it down into the gap, leaving 1 bird left over but I couldn’t get it to work.
Thanks, @karen68. I tried the approach you described a few times, too. It seems like that TNT is particularly weak, doesn’t it? I was able to set it off on the second bird once, and the stone block to the left remained–holding up all of the debris on top! It was actually pretty funny to look at.

@mvnla I was trying to do kidguy’s method and got a super lucky one-birder instead. Terence just flew through everything all the way to the bottom, even setting off the tnt. I don’t know what got into him! There was more debris left than might be if you used 2 or 3 birds, but I was happy to have the extra 20k instead.
@mvnla2, the superb player itj83 created this video of one of the best strategies during our playthrough. The key though is @kidguy‘s first shot. Pay attention to the very front with the debris drop. The difference is probably just a pixel or two:

It’s quite similar to my own strat that I used. The only difference for me was for the second, I did a high arc through the two stone || diagonals so I had enough time to aim the quick third through. Otherwise, sometimes the level would end with a good second. I believe for my score, I used my good old buddy tsmmalkj’s strat in which if he had an alternative second to shoot it to the rear of the structure if the front had enough “damaged” stones so that big red can go right through. Both gave me good points but the shot to the back is what gave me the best.
I know there’s a 2 birder 120K+ but I haven’t seen any photos to show it or come close to it myself.

@mvnla2 I haven’t played this for a awhile, but I do remember it well. I got my score with two birds, like @daveprince13 described above. First bird like video and second bird up in a high arc. If you can get it down to the left of the Tnt, cross your fingers and hold your breath :). I like this level! I am going to see if I can do better today. Good luck!!
Thanks for tips @all, @wanda..I was able to do that once and second bird slid all the way down and ignited tnt but my score was still below par, lol..I was able to repeat this and threw in third bird with no more luck!!!..A BIG Bucket of Luck over this way please!!!
@mvnla2 I have been busy with a party at home for our little Maddy, so I am just now getting to this. I followed kidguy’s first shot. Then, I sent bomb on a high arc trajectory. I pulled him straight down and then pulled him to the left a little. There was about a wood block’s distance between his stomach and the sling base. If done right, this will end up falling through into the small gap on the left of the hole and taking everything out from the bottom. I got the second shot down about 50% of the time. You have to make sure the debris is cleared from that spot or you will not get Bomb to fall.
P.S. I never got the blocks on the front to slide down. Had I gotten those, I probably would’ve been closer to the top.
This level is driving me crazy, crazier than I already am !! Lol :)
That’s because the Big Brother in the video was pumped full of steroids before filming the episode.
