Angry Birds Rio High Dive Star Bonus Walkthrough Level 3

This is our walkthrough video for Angry Birds Rio High Dive Star Bonus Level #3. The level is unlocked by earning 50 stars in High Dive. One strategy is to snipe the rope on the far-right of the level, releasing the TNT from above. That shot is pretty tricky, but it’s smooth sailing after you make it. The score in the video below is 78,310.

Alernate strat but not as high scoring is to use 2 birds underwater to clear the platforms. You won’t get 3 stars all the time but was able to get 3 stars at 71k using this strat. 3 star score is likely 70k as 68k was 2 stars. Just another strat for those who don’t have the patience to try and get the tricky shot done.

You can actually hit the life saver “really hard” and it will trigger the fuse.

If you’re having difficulties sneaking by the inner tube, send the Yellow bird underwater at a shallow angle. He’ll resurface and give you better aim at the detonation cord.

You can also fire him at about a 20-25 degree angle and within about 1/4 to 1/2 second trigger speed burst. Birdie flies in a flatter trajectory than a late triggering, and makes it MUCH easier to hit. Video way I’m lucky to get 1 out of 10 detcord hits. My way, it’s more like half

Alright, not what I’d hoped for, but qualifies as a glitch / bug / whatever, and gives you no points. There is a little crooked piece of something, maybe seaweed, that started bouncing straight up and down off the surface of the water. Bounces would get higher and higher, then decrease, then start getting higher again. Finally piece sunk just below the surface, where it stays. I would guess it’s one of those pieces of seaweed that have an air-filled bubble in them, and if it hits the surface of the water just right it bounces. Does this happen in real life? Got a lousy score, but at least entertaining.

OK, on the top left corner of the two left-most stone platforms there is a little piece of seaweed. Both of these have a somewhat thicker section. I think it was the upper of these 2 that started bouncing.

Lucky outcome for me and could only repeat it a single time. What I did notice was that I wanted the 1st TNT not to blow the large big brown vase directly, but that it sunk a little bit lower to blow underneath. And my problem was not so much the most left dolphin, but the right most one. What I then needed was for the 2nd or 3rd TNT to blow the top above the right dolphin and then the 4th or 5th the bottom. The rest of the TNTwas spread all over.
I haven’t noticed the place where to cut the fuse cord, but I used a straight trajectory for the bird. He dove, by the time he was about to pass the big brown vase I speeded him up out of the water. My view is 100% zoomed in.
The luck on this level comes from the life saver the TNT bounces off, something I haven’t been able to figure out how to use to my advantage. You know, like the timing for when it goes up/down, or how thw TNT will roll.

By CC920

Skim the water with yellow bird, careful not to hit the vase. As it bounces back up into the air, accelerate bird to aim at the TNT cord. May take a few tried since the TNT May not fall in the right places. Score is 79,200.

Ok, I have hit that fuse every which way possible over and over and over, hundreds of flings for hours on end!
I used EStar straight hit method, I did the under water shot, hit the far right box with fuse, hit the greenery on the bottom edge, hit the fuse high/low/middle, tried every way possible to trigger the £¥€¥\%# fuse to see if it would do something different if hit in a different way…… No it doesn’t! When Chuck hits the fuse, it does the same thing each time when releasing the TNT, but when the TNT falls they can fall differently or explode at different times causing the results to vary…. I could not find a way to control how the TNT would fall (by skill). Each time it would do basically the same thing but different scores; and of course, missing the far left dophin about 98.999% of the time.

When I did get lucky and released the left dolphin I got 82k, that has been the highest score so far after many hours and hundreds of flings.. My score is within my goal and in the top 50 (at this time)……. but I know if I keep at it, I might get lucky for a higher score, but I give up (for now).

Finally, instead of aiming at the inner tube or the hanging fuse, aim at the lower left corner of the shotgun looking barrel. Yellow sometimes will bounce off and into fuse next to first TNT. This causes a much more random order of how the TNT barrels are disbursed. It’s a hard shot, but when it goes right, big score. It can be done with a water shot, a straight shot or a high shot. My best score came with high lobe about 45 degrees.

This level must habe been re-designed in one of the last updates. As far as I can remember it was impossible for me to get a one-birder using the standard method (directly or underwater into the fuse). The falling TNTs showed always the same pattern, two of them exploded in the air, no chance to get the left dolphin. Now the TNTs fall more randomly, one-birders are quite frequent. Easy improvement of my old score.
A good choice for the challenge!

Rank: Sling God with 27885 points

After writing this the typical pattern came back again. Whatever angle I choose, high or low, directly or underwater, it’s always the same: TNT #1 hits the vase, #2 and #3 collide and explode on the water surface, next two on the right side and the last one between the 2 middle dolphins, the left cage remains (almost) always untouched.

Here is a video: https://youtu.be/UzHzokpr6_o

No idea how to avoid this and get the randomness back again. This level is a mystery to me.
