Angry Birds Rio Golden Beachball Walkthrough Level #2

Our strategy for Golden Beachball level 2 is to fire the first Blue bird through the cardboard boxes atop the pyramid, just under the stone blocks. This should clear all cages except for the far-right and possibly far-left cages. Launch the next Blue bird into the center of the level, splitting early if you need to catch the left cage. The score in the video below is 61,470.

70,490 — 1 bird only.

Shot bird same as video only got it to go a bit deeper into the pile while still releasing the stone blocks.
The right fell leftward and the left fell rightward, almost total destruction.

From the looks of the scores for this level, there are quite a few people who have mastered this level with one bird only. I am curious is there is another method or if the one described by Loox in the above post is the only way to get this with 1 bird only? Any one else have any ideas? I’m thinking that a score of 70k or greater is all about luck and not so much about shooting the 1st bird just right. What does everyone else think? How bout you Bird Leader, Fuji Toast, AMslimfordy?

Well, I finally got lucky with 1 bird taking out the whole pyramid on this level! Here is what I did:

Toward the top of the pyramid, there are 2 boxes stacked directly on top of each other, protecting the larger bird cage near the top. I aimed for the LOWER of those 2 boxes. Just before hitting this lower box, I split the 1st bird so that it destroyed the lower of the 2 boxes AND the 2 boxes directly under it. If you split this correctly, you will avoid the yellow bird in the cage below these boxes, and your blue bird will break through destroying the boxes under the larger cage at the top. This will cause the “bottom to fall out” allowing the larger cage to fall, and bringing with it the two stone/metal blocks on top of it. This causes a chain reaction with those blocks falling to the bottom. The left side of the pyramid fell in first with the right side falling on it 2nd and then all cages were destroyed. I wont lie, there is alot of luck involved in this, and it took me more times than I care to count to get this, but this method did clear all but one cage about 20 times before I got it to work finally. I hope this helps others!!!

My score after one bird was 51350, 2 birds left gave 20k bonus, final score of 71350.

I found aiming for the yellow bird and having the blue go deep is easier. This will cause the stones to tip towards the left, hit the umbrella and bounce the rock back up, if they fall right it will take out all the cages

I had to play this level several times to trying above strats and get an above average score and found that if you aim for the box that looks like it’s turned sideways with a slit on the side, that sits right on top of box with cross and yellow bird cage and split right before impact it will be a one birder…for some reason this projectory causes the concrete blocks to hit umbrellas right so they bounce up and take out that pesky green and yellow bird cage on bottom right that never wants to break.

A great big THANKS to @lesleyg for helping with the 1-birder on this flinger’s Android phone. I think you & drmac77 were basically saying the same thing, however when my last caged birdie flew the coop it was because one stone had taken the “oh this is exactly what I need” bounce off an umbrella as you described.

With the extremely precise shot it appears each & every one of us needs for a 1-birder, all of the top & left side were destroyed just as a falling stone bounced perfectly off the umbrella, not too high, not too low & flew up & over to land in the middle of a mini pyramid still standing on the right. I could see the stone working its way through the top levels of boxes & was certain it would poof, whoosh, disappear into points oblivion before getting to release the birds in the cage. I had not come this close to a 1-birder before & gasped with disbelief as the stone held its own & didn’t disappear until releasing those birds. I don’t think I’ve ever worked so hard for a 1-birder…all for 71,950.

After finishing the new levels 16-30, I came back yesterday to improve most of my scores on these 1st 15 (so I could move up in overall rank on Golden Beachball), hence my return to this extremely frustrating level. It seems there’s only one way to get a 1-birder here & unlike some levels with a number of ways to get good scores, the difference in rankings here on #2 between a 1-birder & 2-birder is HUGE !!! With previous 2-birder of 64580 my rank on this level was #315 & with these additional 7k + points, I moved up almost 300 spots to #19.

I guess I am now forced to admit I am an Angry Birds Addict (is that ABA in the Glossary?), because despite my disdain for this level, I kept playing to get that 1-birder, but for now I’m going to ignore this addiction & move on to Beachball #3 where I need even more improvement:-(

Blues need to do good damage on the inside to get the stones to bounce in the correct direction to take out the last bird cage. Challenging level to obtain an above average score without the one bird solution.

There is another way to score a one birder than described previusly. I have only been successful once in an hour’s worth of play. But I never came close to scoring a one birder with the other ones. Usually with this one I can get everything but 2 cages. With the the other ones, there were usually 4 left.

I fire the blue bird on a high arc aiming for the cage just under the stone block. At the apex, I burst it to send the 3 birds into the cartons just to the left of the stone. All 3 land in about the same place if I shoot it properly. This starts the cascading effect of cages, stone blocks and cartons.

What I like about this way is that the impulse of the birds is directed downwards, not to the right hand side.

My own score was pure dumb luck after a lot of repeated shots. On top of that, the “elephant in the room” is that top score we are trying to beat. It is not validated by screen shot or details, and is very high considering the mechanics of this level. Perhaps the player accepted the pop-up offer for help, without realizing it was a power up? Whatever, I have a hard time believing it to be a legit score, but I hope I’m proved wrong.

I definitely remember this level. FWIW for those still playing, I was shooting more towards the top side of the box described by @lesleyg AngryAdvisor, splitting at almost the last minute. I was surprised when I got this score, but I’m pretty sure as I’ve been shooting I noticed that in addition taking out the boxes described by @drmac77 that the box between the purple & yellow caged birds must also be destroyed for the stone(s) to fall at the correct angle to hit umbrella & bounce right. I suggest experimenting with angles & splitting to get a feel for how these things impact the angle & timing of the stones falling keeping in mind the very late split.

I tried to get a pic before level closed but only got the final HighScore, however I can just about see the split & 3 lines are visible. Sometimes the very late split will have 1 large dot & not show the 3 lines, so this may help with timing if you snap a pic of your splits to get a better feel for when to release.

peejaydee27, I agree with the questionable score we’re chasing. I think I had 1 box left, but not sure. The top 3 scores are the only ones with 73k & there are no comments. Based on their other scores & ranks I’m wondering if they’re input errors, but as none of them have been around, we can’t ask
