Angry Birds Rio for Android will be an Amazon Appstore Exclusive

Amazon is “winning”! If you Android user who was planning on purchasing Angry Birds Rio it will ONLY be available via the Amazon AppStore, not the Android Marketplace. The Amazon AppStore hasn’t opened for business yet, but since Angry Birds Rio comes out on March, 22nd, I would only assume the AppStore will open a week or so before.

Thanks to RLZIII for pointing out that, “Rovio has said that Angry Birds Rio for Android will not be only available on the Amazon Appstore. Shortly after launch, there will be an ad-supported version on the Android Marketplace. And also, after Amazon’s exclusive contract is up (a yet-to-be announced time period), the paid version will also hit other appstores.”

Also, in case you missed it, check out the Official Angry Birds gameplay trailer here.

The angry birds Facebook page and the Amazon app store both say it will only be available from Amazon for Android. Aside from my petty satisfaction of finally getting something before the iOS, I am worried about how many bugs will come with an outside platform provider. It’s also going to be a shot wait for all the other platform users according to what I read.

Rovio has stated many times via Twitter that the game will get an ad-supported version, and later (again, after an unspecified time frame) it would come to other app stores.

Rovio has not stated that Android will get this before iOS. They have specifically stated that both versions will come out March 22nd.

Here is a straightforward answer to the question:

“don’t worry, will be in all [Android] app stores eventually”

So, Android gets Rio before iOS. I guess I can live with that….

How about PALM gets AB update 1.5.3 before anyone else???? WHAT?!?! UNFAIR!!!

I don’t think it’s leaked. I think it’s coming out at midnight local time, so in some locations it’s already available.

Got Angry Birds Rio tonight from the Amazon App Store by downloading that to my Droid X. It was FREE because Amazon is giving one paid app a day for their launch!!! I love this site…thanks for saving my sanity on some tough levels and helping me find golden eggs. :)

By Jashveer

dont you have to put in your credit card number?

By BizDevSue

I think you can get the app from your Amazon account too. I linked my Amazon Apps 1-Click to my main account and used the same cc on file but the total came out to zero. Hope that helps.

Not sure about the Amazon Appstore, but I believe Rio will be in the Android Marketplace pretty soon.

Hope you’re right. Can’t wait!

Feedback from amazon: presently amazon appstore only available for credit card holders with USA addresses. What about the rest of the world!!! Is that unfair or what!!

We’ve heard a rumor that Angry Birds Rio may be in the Android Marketplace as early as today.

By amek

As far as I know, still not available in android marketplace :(

Yeah, it was just a rumor. Hopefully it happens soon, I know there are a lot of anxious and frustrated people out there.
