We saw the achievements arrive in Game Center yesterday, so we knew the update was coming soon. Angry Birds Rio v1.2.2 is now available for iOS devices, PC, and Android via the Amazon AppStore and the Android Marketplace (no word on other platforms yet). Our Carnival Upheaval 3 star and papaya walkthroughs will be updated very soon with the new levels. In the meantime the Angry Birds Rio Leaderboard is ready for your scores.
Here’s what to expect in the new update:
- 15 new levels in Chapter 8 of Carnival Upheaval
- A new boss fight where you battle the head Marmoset (shown in the video below)!
- The rest of the 15 hidden papayas
- Additional achievements to unlock.
Note, as of right now there may be a bug that is preventing achievements from appearing in Game Center. It has happened to me personally. What have you seen? Chime in here.This bug was fixed in the Airfield Chase v1.3.0 update. - Pro tip: Pop those pig balloons! If you’re looking to increase your score try popping (not just releasing them) the pig balloons, as they are worth 5,000 points each!

I had a huge problem getting the update to show up. I found it was a bug in the App store app. If you’re having the same issues do this: First uninstall the Amazon app store app. Then reinstall it. You’ll have to log on again but your games should be there, just hit the refresh option. The update should now show up :)
At first when I played this alone, I thought I’d had to butt heads with Nigel again, but then I had to duke it with an unidentified marmoset, but after looking at that Rio Clip, it appears to be Mauro. IMO Mauro’s much harder than Nigel, though it’s hard to say who’s harder at the moment.
I did everything while I had no wifi and now the achievements are not there. They won’t load or apper and it has been like 2 hours now. Please help!
This update contains a bug that is affecting Game Center achievements. You’ll likely have to wait for an update.

i have two versions on my PC
1) ‘Angry Birds’
2) ‘Angry Birds Rio’
In the 1st one there’s a 5th chapter called ‘Ham ’em High’ which still has an update to come and in the Rio game there only 3 chapters … there’s coming soon displayed for 3 more chapters. when do those updates come?
Also, do these updates cost extra money?
This update is currently not available for Mac / PC, but it will be soon. The two apps you have are up-to-date as you described them. You will be notified of updates in-game, I believe, as they become available.
And updates are always free.
When this new update will be available for Symbian ??

This is sooooo annoying…..updated Rio and now next level of Carnival are there but cannot load any levels…..the coming soon icon is gone but thats it…any ideas ????
Try restarting your device. Also verify that you have completed all previous levels.
Tried that and completed all previous levels. I installed thge update on the 15h then saw the new leevls but none of them load…just non responsive.
I am having the exact same problem. Did anyone give you any advice that has worked? I’d really like to play.
Yes..I figured it out!!!! Ok..go back to end of last level and repeat very last level….once you do that it opened up the new one….very very weird…but its all goood now :-)

Arrrggghh it really annoys me that they put the iphone updates out first why can’t they put the Android on out at the same time??
The update was released simultaneously for Android via the Amazon AppStore. The exclusivity contract with Amazon seems to only apply to Rio. I think you can expect the Android Market update in a few days.
When are the PC games going to be updated??????????? And when is Seasons coming to the PC??????

I just saw that my phone updated Rio. I dont know if its coincidental, but the update came after I completed the 3 star picnic basket in summer pignic.
I belies that’s merely a coincidence. World 8 came out last week for iOS and Amazon.

Anybody else on android lose all their fruit progress. I don’t think the last update caused it because I had already it happened several days after I downloaded it. I had all 15 fruits on all 4 Levels. when i went to play last night I noticed they were all gone

It happened to me I had all but one watermelon? Same thing with me they were there after I downloaded but disappeared today
HELP! Has anyone else updated to Rio Chapter 8 and realized that all Golden Fruit Achievements have been reset to zero? My scores and 3 stars are still there, but no Golden Fruits! Motorola Droid 1.
I have heard this a small handful of times. Do they reappear in levels? If so, then I agree it is an inconvenience but at least it is manageable. Otherwise you should contact Rovio support.

Depends where you downloaded Rio. Either the Android Marketplace or Amazon AppStore app is where you would need to update. You would update Angry Birds Seasons the same way.
I’m sorry, but mine is a Korean phone, and they are not like USA androids.
Even in Korea you should have an Android Market, correct? The update can be found therein.
I have updated Angry Birds Rio on my iPhone, however, cannot open anything from Carnival Upheaval 8. All the little boxes with the locks are there, visible, but when I tap on them, nothing happens. I’ve restored my phone, the whole nine yards, but cannot open up the new levels. Help?
You have to pass the first level before you can open the second level (and so on). I presume you know this, but I want to eliminate the obvious issues first. Have you passed level 8-1 with at least one star? If you have level 2 should open up.
There is also a thread a few comments above this one where they may be having the same issue.

I can’t even get 8-1 to load. I can see the level there on the screen, the box with the lock on it, but when I press it, nothing happens. I have passed all the previous levels with 3 stars. I am using an iPhone 3G…

completed with all 15 papayas… hint for users 2 papayas are in sky.. use yellow birds to find them (: btw to get golden beachball levels is a redeem code is necessary on the PC??
Thanks, we’ve got walkthrough videos that show you how to obtain all the hidden fruits, including the papaya. Yes, the code found in the DVD or Blu-ray is necessary for the PC and Mac. You can find more info on that in this post.

I don’t believe there is. I also saw a tweet from Rovio that said the Golden Beachballs are, “currently not available for Nook.”.
