Angry Birds Rio Blossom River Walkthrough Level #17

Our strategy for Blossom River Level #17 is to fling the Black bird underwater, allowing him to emerge at the extreme-right side of the level. Bomb between the two remaining structures with a White bird to finish the level with a great score. The score in the video below is 136,650.

A slightly different approach that will get you the three stars — bomb bird into the closest boat (I have been going through the vertical concrete rod), white bird under water releasing egg when the white bird is under the lily pad (a matter of good timing). The body of the white bird will shoot up and take out the right side (similar to bomb bird in video). The egg will float up and explode the TNT. Good luck!

From the late bloomer …. if you use this strat (I discovered it before coming here to look for tips) put the black bomber fairly flat right into the pot or just above so the detonation throws concrete blocks into the boxes holding marmie on the right. white bird barely missing the boat, under, time it so the egg bounces back up into the TNT on the raft and white bird sails up into the structure. very repeatable 3-star, but the original strat nets higher scores.

Did you know double-counted birds (henceforth: DCB) happen on PC? I didn’t! I just cleared the level with the video strat and got a 163,480 score! My previous 145k score (and @fenikus‘ 147k) left far too little debris for 163k to be possible. Test-clearing the level using 4 birds nets ~130k, so my best guess is I got 153,480 + 1 double-counted bird. I can say there was much less debris than my 145k attempt, so I doubt 143k+2 DCB happened.

163,480 Screenshot

Despite the River already having three DCB high scores, no way I’m posting this one. Anyone who knows me, knows I think it’s unfair to allow DCB scores on the boards. Using one to my advantage would be a crappy thing to do.

So, I’m going to defer to my fellow flingers. Whatever you guys think is fair, works for me. :)

I’d like to contribute a couple of items to @Kelani‘s post that might be helpful:

1. I also tried to clear the entire level with 4 birds. The highest score I got was 131,880 — here is the screenshot: http://angrybir.de/1uB6hS1. I paid particular attention to pieces falling into water or going off the screen. On this score, only 1 or 2 pieces went into water and none went off the screen. Roughly approximating debris piece value at 500 pts, 6 x 500 = 3,000 plus about 1K for the banana crate plus 1K for underwater pieces, yields a total of 5K. So if literally everything is cleared on this level, I approximate the max score at 157K. 163K just doesn’t seem possible.

2. I couldn’t help noticing on @Kelani‘s screenshot that his previous highscore was 143,480 which is exactly 20K under his new highscore of 163,480. It may be a coincidence, but @AMSlimFordy, are you aware of any reported glitches where bonus birds are not actually double counted but rather added to the previous highscore?

@bikkit @AMSlimFordy @Kelani

On another note, kudos @Kelani for being a true Nester and questioning your own score. If everyone was like you, integrity of the leaderboards would always be impeccable, even with all the bugs and glitches we encounter. Cheers!

@Kelani @fenikus

The double-bird count is extremely rare but theoretically should affect all platforms. Since mobile devices have more RAM, it’s more likely to occur there than on PCs.

The general policy has been that, if you can figure out what your score SHOULD be, that’s fair. So say you had 50k with one bird left, but it double-counts to give you 70k. Then 60k is an acceptable score to enter on our LB, since that’s what should have logged.

Unfortunately, there’s not really any way to track this. The data files don’t save too too much data about your best score. But if you’d like Kelani, feel free to PM me and we can arrange to have your data files sent to me. I’ll take a look and see what I can find out.

I mean does the graphic where remaining birds jump up and down in jubilation and 10,000 appears above them shows up twice, or the extra points are added on the Level Cleared screen, or is it something completely different?

@fenikus I’m interested in that as well. Nobody pays attention to the dancing birds, they’re too focused on that score :)

@AMSlimFordy After much-needed sleep, I realized the
only way 153k could happen is if only 1 of 2 bonus birds were double-counted. That seems unlikely. If you or anyone have encountered this, let me know and I’ll accept your offer to check my data files. Otherwise, I must assume that despite the unusual near-total destruction (6 pc. remain at left, and entire right side destroyed instead of sinking), I somehow got a DCB glitch while perfectly matching my poor-damage 143k score. That doesn’t really seem much more plausible, but I’m out of ideas. At least it’ll make @bikkit happy. :)

So, unless you know of this scenario happening, just forget it for now. If I ever find clear evidence it’s happened, I’ll let you know. But mark my words: the second I see another 150k+ score on the board, I’m posting that sucker! :)

Thanks for taking the time to help us sort out. Hopefully @fenikus observations will provide Rovio some direction so they can finally squash this bug.

@admins – Sorry to have to flag a score, but the recently entered top score of 152K+ seems way too high, especially considering previous posts above about scoring glitches. Also the player has no scores entered on any other level of any AB game, and is newly registered, so it’s highly unlikely to be a genuine high score. Possibly just a mistake, perhaps a PU or score glitch which he/she doesn’t realize is acceptable?

@justpast40 @rat9 – scoring on this level seems really strange – I just can’t figure it out. I tried a different approach by launching BB at a steeper angle, so that he just knocks the lower right corner of the barrel of the “raft” as he comes to the surface. With the right angle, he tips the raft over and then lands on the base of the 2 vertical supports of the right structure, collapsing it completely then blowing up the raft. It can often give 70K+. Here is a screen shot of this with a 74K score, and the boat intact for shot 2:

https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/peejaydee27/album/picture/13589/

With Matilda, I then got what I thought was a near-perfect shot, destroying most everything else, but the score only came to 140K. My 144K score was following the video, and was just lucky. I’ve used the same stat exactly countless times with omuch lower scores. Weird!

As justpast40 says, rat9’s score is safe I think, as the current high score is surely not valid. :))

@justpast40 I’m sorry that I just noticed your comment too late to be of value for the Challenge. But to comment on the record for use when this level comes up in the Challenge rotation the next time, I thought a response was warranted. That because my best score for the level of 147,050 entered earlier in the day may turn out to be best of this Challenge round should the 152k score be determined an invalid score.

In a nutshell ~ my 147K score was achieved using the walk-through method. It was definitely an outlier as most all of my other better scores were in the low 140K range. Unfortunately laying on the PC using the mouse, I wasn’t quick enough to grab the keyboard in time to capture a screenshot of the destruction. But it seemed to me that the extra 5K +/- worth of points from my typical best scores for the level must have come from having little of the stone debris remaining on the boats. Typically there are a pile of stones against the cabin of the boat on the right that were pretty much destroyed with the 147K shot, and few (if any – I don’t recall exactly now) remaining on the deck of the boat nearest the slingshot.

I also put in quite a number of shots using the two other posted methods by @MG516 and Bird Maniac (@earthbound), and had better success with Bird Maniac’s variation. However as @knichy observed in an earlier post, I found the walk-through strategy returned much higher scores than the alternate methods ~ for me, by a couple thousand points on average to the highest of my non-outlier scores.

All the Best,

Thank You @PeeJayDee27 ~ as I mentioned in my post above, after scoring it I was never able to come close to matching it a second time.

There is one tip I forgot to mention in my post above that is worthy of note:

On the 1st shot when Bomb Bird comes out of the water under the structure at the boat on the right, my original inclination was to cause the explosion to occur at it’s maximum height against the horizontal wood plank at the top of the cavity. But I found that most often tended to push more undamaged stone blocks and planks up against the cabin of the boat. It seemed more of those stone blocks and planks were destroyed, resulting in higher scores, when Bomb Bird was exploded against and below the midpoint of the double wood posts that are holding up the right-hand side of the structure.

I’m quite certain my outlier 147K score employed that strategy in clearing the stones from the deck of the right-hand boat.
