Angry Birds Poached Eggs 3 Star Walkthrough Level 3-17

Our strategy for Poached Eggs level 3-17 is to fire the first Black bird into the first thin horizontal stone block. The explosion should clear the entire left side. Launch the next Black bird into the damaged wood, as close to the bottom pig as possible. Detonate the bird and blow those pigs to smithereens! The score in the video below is 84,910.

First bird as in vid. 31K with more bricks on the right side. Second therefore similar as in vid, but manually activated which caused the wood to fly massivly to the right and break.

Increased the score by 8k using the video supplied by AMslimfordy of the ABN. Thank you.
After the first bird the debris on the right sometimes hinders getting the right bottom pig. Placement of the first bomb bird in the cavity appears to be key.

Line up the aiming of the first bird with green catus behind the sling aids in the accuracy of the fling.

I found this to be the case also. Seems like, a few pixels make the difference.

absolutely….a few pixels is all the difference. I struggled with this level a long time before figuring out the fine line.

Key point 1: the first bird must hit the long horizontal stone on the left without touching the stone below it and must crack (dont need to break) the furthest left wooden block behind the stones.

Key point 2: the second bird must hit the cracked block for the shock to penetrate deep enough to bust the bottom pig…..

that gets you 80 to 84k

You also don’t have to give up if the second bird fails to pop the bottom pig. As long as you get debris flying to the right as emider described, you can still get over 80k even if you need to use the yellow bird to finish.

First bird like video. Lobbed the second which opened up more completion opportunities.

I got a 2-Birder out of this one, did it just like video, but second bird destroyed almost everything, I was trying for about 90k so I’ll settle for what I got.

I got a two birdie here , I lobbed the first bomb bird landing it through the thin horizontal stone- like video except on the other side of the small “tower” atop the stone structure- between the stone and wood structures.I almost had a one birdie with this one lob- so its possible- used the second bomb bird for clean up … there was a fair bit of debris left so higher score clearly possible….

The best spot for the 2nd shot seems to be on the 3rd rectangular stone block up from the bottom. In the walkthrough video there is a straight ahead shot to that stone, but I’m rarely getting that much destruction from the 1st shot that the walkthrough shows.
I’ve had more success lobbing the 2nd bird to that stone, as the 1st shot can leave a bit of a pocket to drop the bomb down into. Line up the shot so the left side of the bomb is against the right side of the cactus thing behind the slingshot with just a tiny sliver between them (zoomed out). I’ve been manually detonating when it lands.
I’m thinking that if the bomb breaks through the 3rd stone to drop lower then it’s not as effective at destroying the pile of wood on the right, it seems to be too low. But I haven’t had that happen too often to really figure out. And watch out for the small brown step-shaped blocks, they have the ability to stop the bomb bird dead.

@karen68, Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your strategy at getting 91k! It took me forever to just get over average and today I finally gained 1k more to 84k. It is hard for me to see where any are getting so high on this one, especially the current top score of 93k. Your description helps to see the higher scores. It is till a matter of luck with some precision in the aiming too.

I did discover that easing up on the pull back a bit and not going full force, gets some better results when using the Bomb Bird against the bricks/stones. If using full force, the BB often bounces a bit and won’t dig in. I’ll still work on getting closet to 90k anyway. Just getting some extra points makes the challenges more fun. :-)

After hours of flinging and hoping, I’d managed to inch up to 87,000 and change. Just before the challenge ended I gave it one last try and got lucky. I was for the most part shooting like the video, but had never got the right side opened for the second shot like that. It finally happened and I find myself currently in 6th place for this level.

I still can’t believe it.

I got within 1k of my previous best score (92k) in less than 10 minutes. So I persevered…

The first bird is like in the video but a tad lower to finish its course like this.

Then the second bird is sent roughly along the same trajectory to, hopefully, end near the small square stone at the bottom of the pile.

Here is the trajectory and final result for my best score.

And the highscore screenshot.

Hope it helps.

Only now? I thought it was broken beyond repair since mid January or so. That is, I can only play the game with all network access disabled since that date, as otherwise it crashes shortly after startup, at about the point where it would connect to the Rovio account. (Rovio support told me then that the game was discontinued and that’s it.)

I got this score using Classics. Basically what you do is, 1st bird aim at the top horizontal piece of stone, just before it hits the vertical stone block. Then Bomb will go inside the stone area and blow that up causing a good amount of destruction for the start. Then you will have space to launch the next bird. The 2nd bird aim inside the wooden area by launching Bomb and hope it can break through a couple pieces of wood, which will then make Bomb have access to the wooden area. Then Bomb will go inside and explode causing a good amount of wood destruction inside the wooden area.

There’s a much better approach in Classics that won’t work in ABO. Send first bird low into the banked stones covered by the tough wood and explode manually on impact. It may take a few attempts but it’s possible to get up to about 27k. Second shot depends on the lie of the land but something similar to the first shot described by others can be good, although on the high score I went for the high lob which buried itself well into the middle bit where wood and stone meet.

There were rather a lot of unsubstantiated high scores on this level so I am glad to prove that they are all possible, although we don’t know how they were done – come on guys, if you get a high score, please do provide proof and strategy.

Hang on… proof to come.
